This is precisely why I love abstract painting, because it is pure, uncensored creative expression that has been liberated from any other consideration. For those ignorant souls who say "It doesn't look like anything" or "a five year-old could have done the same thing," go look at a photograph to see a specific person or thing rendered perfectly in a split second of time. Art is about feeling, not just technique or composition.

Art is about being defferent. What makes this different than any other painting? This could do every man and woman grab a brush and paint something. We would have 7 billions differet but very similiar paiting we would have 5 millions galleries. This is not why people are looking up art, this is not why art is inpirating. That's my point of view. But who am I to judge what is and what is not art? Anyways good job.
Art must be *ESTHETIC*, a rock is not esthetic. This painting looks quite decent. And really, some colors somehow random do not transmit a specific emotion, so everyone can feel what they want(or even don't even feel anything). That's wrong.
Feeling is subjective.
harshlight7 this is ridiculous. C'mon. At some point making fun of painting became a serous activity. A DIY project for bored people with a crafty streak. Picasso taught us so much but people-artists Started it- leaned towards interpretations that allowed for the least amount of work. Anything goes. It's about expression and blah blah blah. It's not. It's about respect for the oldest of the arts. The one that goes all the wAy back to the first mark on some cave wall. This is a mess begging for meaning that isn't there.
Isabelle you are a most glorious painter. So sure of your brush work and the vibrancy takes my breath away.
this is why i cannot hate abstract. i'm a landscape fanatic but i also love the infinity of abstract art. you got it.
Very inspiring! I love the softness of the orange and golds and contrasting sharpness of the black. I'd also like to note she is very brave for wearing a cream colored hoodie while doing this.
I think that your work is really admirable. My husband and I are both scientists, but I use art as an outlet and have for many many years. My paintings (regrettably, I think) are always carefully calculated and proportioned. I just started looking into abstract painting because it's something that I don't understand. After watching you paint I feel like there are many things that are in each of your paintings that are calculated also, albeit in a looser kind of way: balance, texture, colour choice and movement. While I think anyone could do abstract art, not everyone can properly. I admire your ability to make each painting unique and beautiful, and hope to learn more from watching your videos.
Sarah Loutfi Thank you very much Sarah. I think, and that is also my experience, that for scientists, mostly it is very difficult to give up the control and to NOT calculate... That's what you learned for a lot of years and you take care of it every day. So how loose the control for just a moment of painting? To believe, that it is possible, to control in a different way BY losing the calculation, how to believe, that you will get something balanced on the end. I Know how difficult this way is. But let me promise you: Also this is a question of learning and I am sure, that you will find YOUR personal moment. In my workshops, sometimes, I take the hand from my students, I ask them, to close their eyes, to trust me, to relax... I put a chalk in their hands and I feel how free and relaxed they are, and then, I move their hand with mine, big circles, a fast way, change of direction, free, powerful, to fast for control, to much surprise for control. And then, they open their eyes and they can see, what comes out and they start to believe in their own "losing control", to believe, that the result is true and authentic, unique......... It is a question of finding the right way to get, what you want. Maybe also remember you of your childhood, where you was not asking, if it is okay to paint a cow with 6 legs and 3 ears. It IS in you........ just a question to find it! You will get it! Trust in in your self! All the best for you and again thank you
Hi Sarah, Can anyone do abstract art as you said? I don't believe so. It is very subjective. Just as you can't chuck any sort of random ingredients in a pot and scorch it, then turn and call the inedible mess a meal or cooking. You made a mess, that's all.
@pip I didn't mean that anyone could do abstract. Just that I wanted to try. It obviously take skill to do what abstract painters do. I just hoped to learn from her videos. Or try to. Sorry about any confusion my comment may have caused.

Yes, I do mean video instructions, exactly your process of painting these wonderful pieces of art. I am just so amazed as to how you can make the acrylics flow so smooth. I try & I try, but even with water yours look just amazing.
I lurve it. Reminded me of smooth honey amber running down the canvas, in the beginning. The finished piece is wonderful!
All of these videos are like stressful rollercoasters because sometimes a line gets drawn and i think i dont like it and i stress out and then it ends up looking great and its constantly changing not how id expect it to but it ends up so good!

It's always about the emotions. I also paint images I see when I meditate...I try to convey them as they appeared, however, it's usually how "I felt" when the image comes forward that I end up painting...love it!

I do not care for abstract art normally but I really, really like this. I agree with Dakota. Do not pay attention to small minded people. Painting takes the desire to paint. Period. It is a painters own personal journey of expression. Beautiful job. :)

Thank you. Yes, in this case, the painting time was also a very funny time and you are right: All emotions of the moment are to find as visual in the work.
If I stop to love what I do, I think that would be the moment to close the studio.

Yes, that's what Picasso said. He spent the first 30 years of his life trying to be grown up and the last 30 years trying to be a child. If artists lose the spontaneous quality in their work, which is tarnished every year after childhood, it suffers. Best to paint like a child and die happy !

das sah die ganze zeit gut aus. weiß jetzt nicht wo das problem gelegen haben soll. das is als würde man in ne firma gehen wo bauteile für n auto gefräst werden und sagen "hmm naja also schön kann das auto ja nicht wirklich werden"
Jannick Bahl Der Unterschied ist ob man bereits exakte Pläne hat oder völlig spontan arbeitet. Glaub mir: ich bin professioneller Maler.

...na es gibt immer x Momente um aufzuhören oder weiterzumachen... Dafür sind wir alle verschiedene Menschen. Das mit den Autoteilen stimmt aber zB bei Portraits... Kommt da einer zur "Halbzeit" gucken, dann denkt er wahrscheinlich "oh Gott", weil ihm die Vorstellungskraft fehlt für das, was der daran arbeitende bereits als nächste Schritte im Kopf hat... Wie gesagt und ansonsten kann ein Bild nach einer Minute fertig sein, nach einer Stunde, nach einem Tag oder einem Monat. Jeder Mensch würde anders entscheiden und bewertet es natürlich auch anders. Und das ist gut so :) Lieben Dank Euch ♥

Danke! Immer weiter machen. Bei mir war das auch nicht so von Anfang an. Auch "Loslassen" will gelernt sein. Gib Dir Zeit und habe Spaß an der Farbe, den Rest bringt bestimmt die Zeit von allein, wenn Du ein wenig fleißig bist! Nur nicht aufgeben.
Im ersten Drittel der Entstehung des Bildes sehe ich lange ein Gesicht :) Tolle Kunst!!!
Leonard Busch Das ist ja das Schöne am Abstrakten... Oft sieht jedes Paar Augen etwas ganz Anderes... ;) Ich muss es mir jetzt direkt nochmal anschauen und versuchen zu finden,w as Du da gesehen hast.
Die beiden roten Bereiche im Bild könnten Augenhöhlen darstellen, die weiße Fläche dazwischen bildet die Nase, wie bei einem überbelichtetem Foto
