    Excellent step by step instructions! This is the best video on replacing the radiator. A lot of bad, dark and grainy videos out there, but yours is clear and easily understood. Thanks!

    Thanks for this video! Just bought a 2010 Frontier 4.0, automatic, runs great and no problems but started reading forums related to the faulty radiators destroying transmissions, so I am considering a pre-emptive replacement. So this is right on point.

      Very true. This was part of our transmission replacement for that very reason czcams.com/video/KuZER2tKj9Y/video.html

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage: Did you find that you needed to put on an external transmission cooler as well?

      I would suggest not only replacement but bypassing the radiator all together.

    Very nice, the best I've seen yet. I need to do my AC condenser so this helps.

    I don't know what I did differently than you but I haven't been able to remove the shroud. I'm hearing some cracking so I'm at a stopping point until I can figure out why it isn't coming out so that I don't break anything else. 2014 Xterra with auto transmission and air conditioning. UPDATE: turns out there are 2 transmission lines attached to the shroud and that's why I had so much trouble getting it off - one line is attached underneath. They just have to be pulled out the retainers that they were pushed into. Taking off the skid plate would make this job easier also.

      This radiator has been replaced before we put the new one in again for the new transmission waranty, so maybe it was just more loose than yours

    how much at fluid do you loose when removing?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 5 lety +2

      Terry Jackson It depends on how well you plug the lines, but it should be about 2-3 quarts. Make sure to use the matic s nissan fluid (link in the description).

    I baught a used nissan frontier with 134k miles 2005. How can I tell if my radiator has been replaced or not? Scared of the malfunction in the factory part.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 4 lety

      Devon J You’ll have to find a part number, but it can be hard to say.

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage the radiator looks newer and has a lever thats needs to be lifted to take the coolant cap off that I havnt seen on any videos or pictures. This makes me feel better but I am such a nooby. (First veehicle) perhaps when I have some extra money I'll take it in somewhere to have them look at it. Would a dealership be the best place to take it to? Thank you for your time

      @@devonj2044 A stealership...uh, I mean dealership will generally have a great knowledge base, but at a high expense. As a DIY channel my opinion is to get a quote and you'll see how expensive it is and possibly consider performing the repair on your own following the video, and with the help of a more experienced friend who can help you through it.

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage yeah they want 150 just to look at it. The radiator has 3 plastic circles on it that look like a clock but it shows 17 on one, 2 on other, and 25 on the 3rd. Could this be the date the part was made? It seems like its a date for something but I easily could be wrong. Thank you for your time
