An old metal head here. If you had asked me 4 years ago if I would deeply stan a “K-pop” group I would have fallen over laughing. But here I am. Their music is amazing. It’s deep, diverse, catchy as all get out, fun to sing, fun to dance to, it will make you laugh and cry and feel. More importantly, they are a group of 7 members who love each other and their fans wholeheartedly, are genuinely good people, who work hard and care about making sure they do their best for their fans, who have been through hell and come out stronger, and who make music about things that actually matter rather than sex and drugs and how cool someone is for being mean to others. They taught me to love music again and helped me want to live again. I hope you take the time to explore more of their music beyond the superficial, but also to enjoy it just because it is wonderful to listen to.

@@Dashomin Wow I can't imagine getting introduced to BTS through the RM mixtape. That's a heavy intro for a baby ARMY but I know if it was me I'd be so excited finding that first. I relate to this comment so hard. BTS make a lot of fun music, and that's part of what makes them so great (fun is an underrated part of life!!) but when you dig deeper there's so much depth to be found. I've genuinely had some transformative experiences (as a full-grown adult) reading their lyrics and connecting with the way they deliver those lyrics.

Just a little clarification, BTS isn't just one of the biggest Korean boy bands of all time- they are one of the biggest groups of all time period. They are at the same level as some of the biggest artists in the world. Currently all 7 members are serving in the Korean military as military service is mandatory for all able bodied men in South Korean for a minimum of 18 months, but they are still together as a group and all the members released solo music before enlisting. 2 members of BTS will be discharged this year (Jin will be discharged next month). And the other 5 members will be discharged June 2025. And trust me when they return in 2025 it's going to be huge.

About Snickers bar : Some of their music videos are constructed with a fictional storyline. In this fictional story, J-Hope (the guy from the Snickers bar scene) was taken to an amusement park as a child but was abandoned by his mother. His mother put a Snickers bar in his hand, saying she would be back soon, but she never returned. Therefore, the Snickers bar symbolizes "fake love" for him. In the storyline, the fire and water scenes also symbolize their personal traumas related to fake love. Their storyline spans years and is extensive, so you don't need to know it all right now, but I wanted to explain the parts used in this music video : )
Thank you for reaching BTS and your open mind. They did not become famous just for their good looks and cute appearances. There are reasonable reasons why they became the world's greatest band. Their musical prowess, haaard work, dance skills, brotherhood, passion, personalities, humility and positive good influence, combined everything to make them the most influential band in the world.
If you listen to their music without any prejudice against boy bands, even if their music may not be your cup of tea, you will admit that their music has the highest quality. For your next songs, I recommend "Black Swan" and "On (Kinetic Manifesto Film)" to experience their diverse musical artistry. Welcome to the BTS world!

I am a 65-year-old fan of BTS. ARMY as the fandom is called. I am a musician as well and I just want you to know that BTS has long since transcended the "boy band" label and is quite rightly the biggest music group in the world. In all the years I have followed other artists, I have never "met" any who were as hard-working, inherently talented, and humble as the members of BTS. They have done what no other Asian artists have ever done. They have conquered the world. Thanks for your reaction. More, please. I recommended Black Swan or On: Kinetic Manifesto; A Film. The breadth and depth of their catalog is astounding. I just subscribed and am looking forward to your journey. BTS cannot be compared to anything else you have come across. Not only does their discography rival that of the most prolific bands of all time it's quality is exceptional. They operate a tiny bit like a supergroup with individual solo projects running within the group albums but also totally separate projects. All 7 members have developed different musical tastes that inform the whole ...... Then if that is not enough if you are tone deaf there is their hilarious and huge catalogue of reality content. The only real way to begin to understand BTS is the HIGHLY entertaining TAYLOR MARI GUIDE TO THE BANGTAN 7. It looks long but feels short. Many reactors say they will split into two and end up watching the whole thing with us looking sad at it ending. Nothing better we ARMY love more than watching people fall in love with BTS. A guaranteed antidepressant for a rainy day! Though I did see a reactor cry. I think it's because it's that he did not realise what he missed and longed for. A true brotherhood that chose to live and laugh together 8 of the 11 years they have been together, and long after their rags to riches impossible rise as industry outsiders.

    @7Flowers1Dream Před měsícem +47

This song is from their Love Yourself era. The first album (Love Yourself: Her) focuses on the “giddy” side of love/relationships, particularly “new” love. Fake Love is the title track of the second album (LY: Tear)focusing on the darker/painful aspects of relationships (disillusion, keeping secrets, neglecting your needs, exhaustion, resentment, breakups). The last album (LY: Answer) conveys the message that in order to find/keep true love we must trust & love ourselves first. Their next two albums (Map Of The Soul-Persona & MOTS -7) focus on the “How” of loving ourselves by getting to know & accept ourselves.
The “fictional storyline” deals with growing up/coming of age, and touches on several common yet dark themes like domestic violence/abuse, child neglect & abandonment, poverty, trauma, even self harm and self-💀. Each group member plays a “character” with a different difficult personal story that they “escape” from through their friendship with the other 6. A Snickers bar is the object the character played by rapper J-hope remembers his mother giving to him before she abandoned him in an amusement park as a young boy. Here he’s “trapped” in his memories of that incident. The fictional storyline is not necessary to relate to the lyrics or to otherwise enjoy their music & content, it just gives another layer of context/meaning if one wants to dig deeper.

The thing about BTS, and a big reason why they're so popular, is their genuine sincerity and depth. As they write the majority of their music, they're able to express this in a way which translates and resonates to many people through this medium. They have several songs which touch on this depth like this, such as Black Swan, spring day, Tear, Tomorrow, Silver spoon and more. Oftentimes those new to BTS will see their more lighthearted songs such as Butter, Dynamite first, which don't fully demonstrate the layers and levels they're capable of. I'm so glad your first song of theirs was fake love; not only does the music video display visual symbolism surrounding their alternate universe, the lyrics are more ambiguous than is apparent at first, and are more open to interpretation. Black Swan is a good choice if you'd like to see more like this from them: it's a deeply personal song lyric-wise and the music video is stunning. From one metalhead to another. Enjoy!

I think that if you choose to continue reacting to BTS you will keep being surprised. While there are some songs that might fit what you might asume BTS' music is like, but what you will asumably llike and be pleasantly surprised by is the diversity of their music. ARMY often don't like when BTS is called "boy band" or "kpop", not because of the genre and what it is, but because of how it usually limits what people expect, locked in preconceived notions and boxed in and maybe not giving them a proper chance. So an amazing ARMY once wrote that "calling BTS a boyband is a little like calling a computer a 'typewriter. Not wrong, but also not the whole story". So thanks for this reaction and I hope you'll keep having an open mind a want to explore more. I would love to see more reactions to BTS that's something you want to do as well.

Just remember that a lot of our boys music generally isn’t about traditional romantic love. Like the intro you read. Take this song for example. One theory is that it’s about fake love with yourself. Another is not wanting to have fake love and being dolls for their fans. My fave theory tho is that this is about the music industry itself. Listen to the lyrics again and imagine they are singing about the industry. It fits! One request.

Calling it out as "fake love" and focusing on the realisation that it's wrong rather than making a sad heartbreak song of missing someone. Many people could benefit from it
But I do like the theory about the industry - it does fit well!

I'm a child of the 60s/70s with tastes around Woodstock music, Dylan, the Dead, folk & album rock (Pink Floyd etc). I don't care for k-pop in general or even pop. But BTS blew my mind! There's nobody like them and 40-60M fans can't be wrong. They first came on stage in 2013 with a strong hip hop song addressing the treatment of youth in Korea. Their 2022 sophisticated song Butter was nominated for a Grammy. Along the way you'll find all the genres you listed, plus sweet vocal ballads, heavy rap, meticulous choreo, deep lyrics, outstanding videos. Many fans no longer call them a "boy band". They are a vocal group, ages 26-31, currently in Korea's mandatory military service. On the way to military they each cut an album, with videos as well. There is tons of music! And all kinds of other entertainment as well. I hope you do fall into BTS because I see you know what you're talking about.

I'm 55 and I was definitely a classic rock junkie before I found BTS. I went deep down that rabbit hole, and I have never regretted it.
They do sooooo many genres. My favorites are B-sides. They've done a ton of hip-hop. Older stuff is less pop. Their all English songs are much more pop than the majority of their Korean songs. The all English songs were put out during the pandemic. Just fun, feel good songs. Their older stuff was more meaningful and edgy. I expect more of that when they reunite after completing their military service.

I appreciate that BTS loves music and it's one of the reasons they attract a wide audience. Individually, as you will see in their solo work, they have different musical tastes and influences with different experiences and strengths in writing lyrics and music, arranging, and producing. So, together they have a whole buffet of skills to work with. As an older Army, I have lived through decades of music history so their musical diversity and meaningful songs keep me coming back for more. Plus, they are all-around entertainers with a ton of video content to enjoy.

I have a very diverse taste in music. But Bubble gum pop or super mainstream pop is NOT part of my repertoire. I never in a million years thought I would like a “kpop boy band”. But here I am, stanning these 7 men. Buying their albums (I’ve never bought an album in my 42 years before bts), and waiting for their comeback so I can go bankrupt to see them in concert.
I first looked at them with prejudice. Made fun of those that stanned them. Mocked their early styles and just assumed they were like any other poppy boyband. It was their popularity that got me curious. Coming from a business perspective, I dove deeper to see what made them so big and special. To see if there was something there to inspire me to do better in my own business…after a few months of learning about them, I just fell in love and there’s no turning back.
As they have said, if you listen to their music with no prejudice, you will begin to enjoy their music and artistry. Please remember to pay attention to the lyrics, BTS usually has a message or a deeper meaning to their songs. There’s only a handful of songs that don’t have a super deep meaning, but there’s always a purpose for the song. It does take some getting used to though. I’m not used to 2-3 levels deep worth of messages. I’ve been used to surface level meaning so it took my mind some time to start opening up. Which is wild thinking back. How shut off my mind was. How brainwashed I was to not know how to think. Since all these social media and media outlets just train you to believe things at face value.
Hope you’ll keep going and give BTS a deep dive. 💜

Not to be presumptuous, but you guys would LOVE the Fake Love (Rocking vibe mix) that is used for the extended MV.
That alternative universe storyline that you read abt is called the BU (bangtan universe) and many MVs have it marked in their description as officially part of it, including the one you just watched. The visual elements of the rooms in which each member was are all connected to their characters, including the snickers bars hehehe, but I think it’s pretty early for you to dive into that, it’s better to get to know and familiarize yourself with the members and their music first.
RM (Kim Namjoon) leader, rapper and main songwriter
Jin pronounced with a J sound like in Jacob (Kim Seokjin) vocalist and visual
Suga pronounced sugar without the r (Min Yoongi) rapper and producer
J-Hope (Jung Hoseok) rapper, dancer and dance leader
Jimin (Park Jimin) vocalist and dancer
V (Kim Taehyung) vocalist and dancer
Jungkook (Jung Jungkook) vocalist and dancer
I recommend black swan next as many others are suggesting and also RUN BTS (doesn’t have an MV but has a really cool dance practice) and be sure to not confuse the song “run” with the song “RUN BTS”, they are 2 different songs. Some songs that will prob get you head banging are Ma City, Dionysus and Danger.

I was into slow type of music before I met them but now I love every single music they release and even all old hiphop songs they released. All of those music have something behind it, if not a story line, some thing we can relate on, or something to make us feel joy in bad times (Like during Pandemic they released BOP songs to enlighten us) and to help us sat in the corner sobbing if we need a good cry. Welcome to the BEST BAND EVER!

I noticed that you guys did not really talk about the lyrics so I'll try to break it down to the best of my ability.
This song talks about receiving fake love. They are saying they are sick of fake love.
Like the pre chorus said - mold a pretty lie for you, make me your doll.
It means that a lot of the time celebrities have to put out the most positive version or even pretend to be entirely good people hiding the negativity in themselves just so the public or fans would like them more. BTS States that if they do that, they even forget who they really are because it seems they are living a lie so they say They are tired of receiving love for who they are not. They prefer for people to know exactly who they are.
As namjoon the leader once said, he was confused if he should just be Rm the leader of BTS or be himself Kim Namjoon. I thinks it's an important topic both for singers and even actors. Some celebrities portray a particular image for so long that they forget who they really are. Do people love me for me or they love the image of me? Do I love myself or do I love what people think of me.
So that's just it long story short.

if you like the guitar on this, there's another version called "Fake Love (Rocking Vibe Mix)" that cuts back on the hip hop/trap beats and instead goes for a rock feel.
both are good, but it's interesting to notice how the feeling changes.
stumbled across this reaction vid by chance and subscribed to the channel.
i'm not really familiar with your music taste, but i would recommend "black swan" next; it talks about the fear of losing passion for what you love, which in their case is music, and there's also an orchestral version that fans are very fond of (myself included) with a performance from a dance company that really conveys the meaning of the song.
this was nice to watch, keep up the good work!

Soon to be 67 years young, and i became Army about 4 years ago!!!! My bias is Suga, because of his Agust D trilogy albums, and Jin because he is so underrated as one of the singers, especially with his signature triple high notes!!!!!
Given your comments, I highly recommend the BTS MV of Fire!!!! 🔥 It's a hard urban energy from 2015, abour 2 years after their debut in 2013! The synchronized choreography, which is why they're so good, was on point since day one! Look to their early dance practice videos, as some of their early mv were "cheesy" (that's okay to say) and didn't focus on the choreography! So Boy in Luv, Danger, Dope, NO and We Are Bulletproof pt 2! You can see their evolution from hard hip-hop to r&b to EMD to pop to classic!!!! There isn't any genre that BTS won't try, and that what makes them resonate with Armys across the world - their message of be yourself, love yourself, be fearless!

BTS and ARMY saved my life.
I have a very diverse love for music. Rock has always been my number one genre, Disturbed has been my number one for more than 22 years now. I never really gave KPOP second though.
In April 2022, I had not planned to continue in this world... however, April 19, 2022 something caught my attention on YT. Fans had been really upset about BTS and the Grammys'. I kept coming across this stuff and thought, "Why are people so upset about this" "whats the big deal? The Grammys' suck anyways." So, I wanted to know why people had been so obsessed with BTS. I looked up a bunch of there MVs' and watched / listened. I went though a lot and thought they are really good and entertaining, but didn't get hooked... until I came across "Save Me." This song is BTS asking for theirs fandoms help, because they had been close to not continuing back then. However, it hit me like a ton of bricks... not just the lyrics, but the feel of the song. When the song got to Sugas' part I began ti cry, than at J-Hopes part, I was bawling. I have been ARMY since that moment and a very PROUD Army at that. I binged BTS content that night. Learned their names, faces and voices with-in 24 hrs.
Just a yrs and a month later found love for their baby brother group, TXT, the day I went to their concert in San Antonio because my friend needed a ride and it was my first day hearing them. Now I am MOARMY... proud MORMY and get to got see TXT again in 8 days. I'm ARMY #1! FOREVER!
BUT! I have become a big KPOP fan in the past 11 months to wear the list is long and just keeps growing. I like to only really listen to the BOY GROUPS, but DREAMCATCHER is a girl group I can stan, they have a very ROCK vibe to their sound.
I tell people how I became a fan all the time. I'm still alive and have BTS / ARMY to thank for that. Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) has a special place in my heart.
Hope you guys get more into their stuff too.

wow! I discovered your channel when you started reacting to One OK Rock. As a massive Kpop and BTS fan so cool to see y'all enjoy your first BTS song! They are my favorite artist. I found BTS in early 2016 right around when I turned 21. Now I'm 29 and can definitively say they have been the soundtrack to my 20s and have been a massive positive influence on my life. They have helped me through my darkest times and have also brought me so much joy to watch how they grow to conquer the world.
Fun fact! this song was actually originally a lot more rock based, but they altered it to be able to perform to it better. There is also an extended version of the music where you can hear the rock mix!
BTS is one of the most prolific and versatile artists out there, doing all kinds of music with hip hop as their core foundation. (The 3 rappers are also the 3 main producers and songwriters) Ironically all their most "pop" or "boyband" tracks are actually the ones marketed to America. American media already has a certain image associated with the term Kpop and sadly seems to respond best when BTS fits into the mold already created for them... I'm so glad this was your first BTS song! It is much more representative of their discography! that said, even when BTS does go pure pop, like in their three English tracks, instead of being cheesy it's really just fun. They released those tracks during the pandemic because they thought the world had enough dark stuff going on they just wanted to make some music to cheer people up a bit
I'm sorry this comment is long as hell, but I also just wanted to add I really owe it to BTS for also really opening my mind ears to listening to music from around the world regardless of language. There is so so much music I would have never discovered if it weren't for them!
anways thank you again for watching! I understand if no one reads this whole book :P But I got really excited to see you guys react to BTS and it made me think again how proud I am of them!
