    In this video I will be painting the stock chrome headlight housings black, installing Diode Dynamics switchback C lights and re-sealing and installing them into my 2020 wrx. The process is the same on all wrxs from 2015+

    I’m trying to do the exact same thing as you. The wiring looks a bit confusing tho.

    they look great bro! i saw your custom tail lights as well and was wondering if i sent you a stock pair of headlights and tail lights if you could trick them out for me

    Curious why upgrade the c lights? OEM not bright? Will it be OK not upgrading them?

    What type of paint did you use to paint them? Did you mix a clear coat/protectant with the type of paint used as well?

    Was the paint a high temp paint or standard automotive body panel paint? Thinking of doing this in the coming week or so and don't want any issues with the paint after I've resealed them. Also like the idea of leaving part of the C-light chrome for more contrast.

      The paint i used was standard body paint. However I recently discovered that you can remove the factory chrome without painting the headlight by soaking them in zepp oven degreaser. It leaves behind a factory mirror finish black. But you could just use any spray paint will hold up just fine as long as you sand them down good.

      @@StreetInspired1 you brought up a good point with the supplied taps DD includes with the C-lights. How did you wire it on your car? Wish I knew about the zep method for blacking out the chrome... it would've saved me a few bucks buying paint lol

    Great job on the headlights, but for a first time watcher on a video that pops up when I search something of this nature, I didn't get a lot of effort from you when making this. Since this was 2020 and now its 2022 you probably do a better job but I just wanted to say for this specific video the more you record the easier it will be for someone to watch and understand that's never done it before.

    If I did this to my wrx limited with the moving headlights, would that take away the moving headlight function?

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  Před 2 lety

      Not as long as you don't damage them during the process. But the disassembly might be slightly different on them.

    I love the result. I plan to do the same soon. I have the c-lights installed. Do you think it would look good to paint the c-Light cover? did you consider it?

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  Před 2 lety +1

      Painting the C light cover would hide the clight and I didn't want to do that. I've seen people Tint the c light cover with a different color and I think it looks strange but to each their own!

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  Před 3 lety +2

      I used PPG Deltron Basecoat and shopline JC620 clearcoat. I recently found out though that you can soak the chrome peice in oven cleaner and the chrome peels right off leaving a mirror finish gloss black underneath! That's probably an easier option!

      @@speedxtc9236 as long as its some sort of headlight sealant you should be okay. I even reused the factory sealant on a set one time and it was okay. I just wouldn't recommend RTV silicone because I used that one time and it released harsh fumes after being sealed that hazed the inside of the lense.
