      Hi Megan,
      Thank you for watching! There is no specific spacing between the hooks. I add as many as needed to keep a stem in place and to make it stay on an angle I need it to.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi! Thank you!
      It is common for some roots to get attached to the wall/ceiling :) The plant in the video, for some reason, is not doing so. May be because it has enough support form the hooks...
      You may simple trim the roots that are sticking to the surface if you prefer them not to 🌱

    • @JM-ll6hd
      @JM-ll6hd Před rokem

      The rooting protrusions from pothos need to contact moisture to start rooting. Unless your wall stays wet pothos WILL NOT damage your walls.

    Hi there! I wondering what I can do about a root bound pothos that is not in a container like this? They're in an 8 inch pot and I really don't want to go any larger. How can I trim the roots and use the same size pots? Awesome video, thank you!

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi Dakota,
      Thank you for watching. 🌱
      Take the plant out of the pot and look at the root system.
      This plant does better in a tighter pot but, if you see nothing but roots, you need to either separate the plant and re-pot half of it back in your 8" pot (another half to a new pot) OR re-pot the whole plant in a deeper 8" pot (if you do not want to get a larger pot).
      You can prune the roots if they are sticking out from the bottom of the pot but, if there is no soil (1"-2") around the root system, the plant will not be too happy + you will end up watering the plant very often if there is not enough soil to hold the moisture.
      Green Luck!

    Hi. Really amazing video. I learned a lot. I had some questions. Would really appreciate your input (if you see this 🙈) or if someone else here could answer them. I’m a complete beginner.
    1) is it safe for the walls to let the ivy grow like that? Some people suggested getting trellis.
    2) I live in a rented house. When I move it is okay to trim down the plant so it’s easy enough to move in a box?
    Thanks.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi! Thank you for watching 🌱
      1. If using hooks, you do not need trellis. The hooks I am using in the video amzn.to/2VXIKix cab be easily removed when needed without damaging the wall.
      2. Yes, you can carefully pack it in a box when moving.
      Some minor stress and leaf damage are expected but the plant will recover and bounce back once it adjusts to its new location.

      Hi Anji,
      Thank you for watching 🌱
      Your Pothos plant might need a bigger pot + some nutrients.
      Once repotted and fed, it should start growing new stems and they will fill up the bottom of the arrangement.
      You should also prune your plant (spring is the best time) to force it to grow more and fuller stems.
      Indirect light is perfect for this plant.

      Pruning is the best and easiest way to get your Pothos plant back in shape.
      Prune it back - aggressively.
      Don't worry this plant grows very fast and you will see its stems getting long again soon + get it in fuller shape.
      It might also need to be repotted in a fresh soil or/and larger pot (if you have not done so in the past 2-3 years) + get some "vitamins".

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před rokem +1

      Hi!
      Self-watering pot does not mean - Pothos plant (or any other type of plant) is sitting in water all the time.
      The reservoir gets refilled not when all the water is used by the plant but when the soil is dry.

    Will the roots stick to the wall and damage the wall?

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 3 lety

      Hi Thi,
      Yes, the stems can attach themself to the wall for support.
      This plant does not do it. I think because it has plenty of support with hooks.

    How it can be washed , doesn't walls get water marks?

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Abeer,
      To prevent any water marks on the wall - do not spray leaves.
      Clean them with a moist paper towel when the plant needs a deep cleaning.
      Use Swiffer duster amzn.to/3iWPLuI to dust off leaves once every 2-3 weeks or as needed.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! I use this plant food mycityplants.com/collections/fertilizers/products/all-purpose-fertilizer
      Can be used every time you water the plant + any time of the year. Very gentle formula, all-natural, no root burn.
      Also, make sure the plant is getting enough light. Lower the light - slower the growth.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 2 lety

      Hi Harri,
      If you think the roots of your Pothos plant are rotting, it is best to take the plant out of the pot and examine the roots.
      Remove all rotting/dead roots and repot the plant in a fresh soil/ potting mix.

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi!
      You may add more hooks to support the stems and cut off those aerial roots that allow the plant to climb.

    This is the easiest plant to grow. It's awful how people make something so easy sound so complicated just to make a buck. It's this kind of information that scares people off owning plants. Shame on you.
