Thanks for the video. It has me thinking of a few other modifications. Re: your modification shown here... you could just purchase those nylon lined nuts, or you could use an acorn nut on the inside, or you could crush the nut on the end of the rod (if it's not round, it won't turn) and the outside nut doesn't really matter, or you can just crush or deform the threads on the inside end of the rod. That should be enough options to keep from searching out a welder. And thanks also for the joke. I plan to get some mileage out of that one.
Another trick I've used is drill a hole through the center of the rerod and bend a piece of wire around the rod it'll never go any further until you remove the wire. Welding really isn't a good idea, because then you can't modify it for different applications. Just a regular rod without threads will work to as long as a washer is holding the jaws together and drill holes on both sides, you want it loose and if there's ice buildup. Just something I've learned trapping when you could actually make a living trapping, before all of the liberals ruined the industry here in the United States.
Use locking screws so you can undo it easily if need be. I'm a little unconvinced just because I could see the animal not liking the sideways trigger tines, then butting the edge of the trap to get around and it rotating and them skittering by missing the trap as it rotates around the screw rod. You'd probably still want to fence it off and secure it with support sticks to keep it from spinning,
I did the exact same thing almost exact same thing with a very large nail and then I tack welded a washer on so it wouldn't fall out so that it would not fall out this was long before they came up with CZcams
Great mod. Fast and easy setup. Hope you never insulted any balding men with that joke.....there will be hell toupee. But seruously I tried to think of a good joke response, but I couldn't think of one even after combing the internet.
That is a great idea and lock nuts are available to avoid welding.
Good idea. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good idea
@@nealschebell7545 thanks!
That’s a nice setup Tom! Very smart! 😊👍
Can't take credit for the idea. I bought some from an older guy that did this. Works great!
Thats an old trick. i used to do that to a lot of my traps back in the 70's

That's a very good idea! I don't know why I didn't think of that. I think a welder would be overkill. Thanks for the view and input!
I don't have any but that looks pretty slick I would use nyloc nuts Then you probably wouldn't need a welder. Love the joke 🤣🤣🤣
Very true.
Great mod brother! If you don't have a welder you could use lock nuts to keep them from loosening! Loved the joke my friend lol!
Thanks Mark. These work really well for me

You should use a nylons type locking type nut it would make you installation much simpler.
I agree. Always room for improvement.

Thanks for the insight. The trap really doesn't rotate at all. I caught numerous muskrats using this method.
I think that is a great idea
Thanks. I can't take credit for it, but just passing along an idea.
Love the hack!
The top of my head is bald.😂
Thanks! Good thing for caps. Lol

I would like to bubble weld the top nut or use lock tight so it doesn't loosen up and fall apart. Thanks for watching.

All in good humor. Lol.
I really like this setup. This style is where I caught my first muskrat.
I just started setting these and that is the perfect idea..thanks for sharing.i have been interested in the pans also..do or have u used the pans ..
I'm glad you like it. I've seen the pan and never gave it a thought about using them at all.
👍
Whacha using 1/4" threaded rod?
Yes. I should've mentioned that.
Nice hack! 😂 good tip on checking state regulations
@@LiveMoreOutdoors thanks Jim, I thought I'd throw that in at the end
Try lock nuts
Yup will do that.
Why not just use a 120 that has the double spring, they’re pretty much the same price.
isnt the 120 harder to hand set tho? i cant set those sadly being a girl....
I prefer the 110 for this setup.
My grip isn't the strongest anymore.
