Phil Carman wasn't just another player; he was seen as a superstar in the making. But while fans might have thought of him as the most thrilling player they'd seen in decades, there was a major catch- he was prone to serious trouble, his temper tantrums nearly costing him his entire career!
He cost Collingwood the flag in 77!
For that alone we all love him.
They still should've won without him
I was at the game he head butted the umpire
Pure head case, saw him years after he retired at a club event at Vic Park, all he talked about was hitting people, his eyes would light up when talked about it, he seemed oblivious to the fact that it had cost him his career and a premiership.
Won more games and did more 400,s than the negative comments writers, was Dermott,s faverite player , DERM,s first game was fabulous phils last game, thanks for the excitement and the thrills phil Carmen, enjoyed the ride and watching you play, all the best, Go pies
Fabulous Phil. Oh and the pic at 0.47 is Max Richardson ( Pies captain in 77 )
He had white line fever😂
Angry and tough as Nails on field nice guy off the field
He good landscaper too
Superstar dermie Type maybe even better
The VFL in the seventies .
Should have stayed in SA😂
I didn't like Tom Hafey for getting rid of him at the end of 78 it cost us 79 80 81
Hafey had a big clear out at the end of '78, moved on Len Thompson & Max Richardson as well. They were great players who were ageing but often went missing in big finals matches.
Not securing Quinlan from footscray to replace Phil late 1978, was an even bigger fuck up from our inept board
Sigh...another clickbait headline, another AI narrator, another content creator blocked!
