    Thank you for sharing this information. My favorite of all of the pieces that I've seen you do on this channel is definitely the beautiful American Eskimo dog. Not only because I happen to be an American Eskimo mommy but because as someone who paints them and draws them the amount of detail that goes into making them look as beautiful as they are in life is very difficult. You achieve it with ease.

    Thank you for speaking in terms of inches. Metric/A sizes are completely alien to me and I have to keep looking it up.

      I still like inches for paintings. But it's good to provide both I think as some people never encounter inches these days!

    Hullo Emma, I have been trying to work in the 6x8 inch size to create studies. I have taken the Painterly Landscape Classes from Alain Picard and I still feel like a newbie and yet I have been working in soft pastels for 3 years now! Your such an inspiration and I thank you for being so FREE with your advice and instructions. I know the information is much more detailed over on Patreon and I hope to get back over there one day! Please take care, be safe and thank you for continuing to be the wonderful artist and person you are.

      I love Alain's work! I recommend him on my channel. Each time you learn a different approach or technique you can feel like a beginner. I still have many beginner days ahead of me haha! Thanks as always for the comment and hope you are well.

    For those of us on a budget or new to soft pastels need to either do close crop small or treat ourselves to work bigger...even if it is just for portfolio and not framed.

      Hullo Melanie, I found buying the less expensive sticks an alternative to Unison or Schmincke sticks which are some of the Best to use. I have even purchased some of the STREET pastels from Jerry's Artarama they are large sticks and have wonderful pigment loads. I tried them after getting one of the Jumbo Sennelier sticks of which I was given. Good Luck and good practice!

    Hey!
    You are an amazing artist. God bless you! 💕
    I have bought Hahnemuhle Velour paper and I have Stabilo Carbothello colored pencils, but I was so disappointed when I tried them on this paper.
    It doesn't look like what I saw on CZcams at.others, like oily and creamy. They look bad.and dont blend..
    Can you recommend me a better paper? In my country, I can't find Clairefontaine.
    Or what pastel chalk should i buy
    @EmmaColbertArt
    Edit : i used hahnemuhle velour and mungyo gallery /i buyed today/ and when i try to blend it the colour remains on the paper like stiff and doesent look creamy like in your painting..its verry weird..
    I dont understand why
    Can you please tell me why
    Also can you show us the painting process? 😊
