I'd be fuming if I was a Leeds fan listening to this. He properly took advantage of how desperate they were to offload him. No way would he spend the prime years of his career in the championship for an extra 25% in his wages if they were able to keep him on

Im not sure he really did - he was, like most players, treated like shit by multiple clubs and left in the lurch. Have you been made redundant or worked freelance before? So it was business, but also personal for him sfter the way he was treated..Anyway he took the payoff over 3 years which is standard in any job. This is the only story i think ive heard of a player who played in these times getting one over against clubs who treated and still treat playees like shit. Shouldnt we all be laughing with him, if we look at the bigger picture?! As its really a story of the small man getting one over the ‘man’ if you read between the lines...

Players have a very short career and are completely inclined to milk the contracts for as much as they possibly can. He didn’t break any laws.

Fantastic podcast. I'd love to know what the guys made of Mills. To me he comes across as extremely arrogant and doesn't seem to care about anyone as long as he gets what he wants.

@@shaunkirk5895 The lads just went silent for a while there. He didn’t cover himself in glory, talking about forcing a dying club to cover 25% of his wages, laughing at the prospect of him finishing them off and at one point stating he loved the club.
I do get the whole short career and the club wouldn’t give a shit about you arguments but this isn’t some lad just nudging 6 figures and an owner trying to penny pinch to get himself a new motor. Not a good look at all.

Not sure Chris knows what to say and because Mills is looking direct at Parkin for most of it I feel like Parkin forces a lot of laughs. I think Mills expected them all to be laughing their heads off and saying how class it was that he had 4 clubs paying him at once but I think they're shocked at how open he's being.
Whenever he talks about money he shows us that lovely smile that made his wife go weak at the knees. Nice guy.

When he started talking about the 25% Leeds would owe him knowing it would still break their backs, I switched off. He didn’t seem to have any remorse about his decision and seemed jokey when he said it. No wonder the man is living in such a nice house because all he ever seemed focused on was money
Thought he was good on Sky/BBC Radio etc. This interview has done him no favours. Sounds like a complete helmet. No problem with him earning it. Just don’t gloat about folding football clubs where cleaners, Receptionists, chefs, waiters & waitresses are earning £18,000 a year and you are laughing about benefiting from their loss.

Completely agree. Clubs fault. Danny could have more self awareness that due to The Club paying such ridiculous salaries to players had a knock on effect to people not as fortunate to earn the money he earns. People were made redundant and lost their livelihoods, Danny doesn’t seem to give a.....

Though Danny was sound at the 2002 WC. Excellent when considering that he’d never played for England before.
Mendieta went on loan to Barcelona the season after signing for Lazio, this was when they were way behind the pace in the league. Then he was on loan at Boro the season afterward - *then* he signed on a free transfer. Boro were paying high wages at the time and as most of you will recall, it was a regular thing to get a foreign star in that seemed to be above their level.
On paper boro had a great side apart from defence

Did well to get him as a guest. Decent career for a player of his talent and played at a time when I was into football more. Very single-minded as many have pointed out but many pros often are, with fewer tales to tell.

The best bit about this was we beat City to 7th place in the last minute as Fowler missed a pen. As for Leeds, I’m baffled how he can sit there laughing claiming he was helping the club while claiming wages spread across 3 seasons, which would limited any incomings which was the start of your long stay in the championship. A decent player and a great career but I don't think Danny came across very well in this interview. Not very humble, not funny and no self awareness whatsoever. Felt as though the hosts were uncomfortable in parts being in his company.

After watching the second episode she’s really not a likeable lad at all , the money talk and leaking stories to press to bump his own deal etc . Toss up between him and that muppet Leon knight for most u likeable guest the boys have had on the show . Love the podcast and the videos though lads , keep it up 👍

Every Leeds player you have had on so far has come across well. Even Duberry who many dislike. Mills on the other hand comes across as a self centered money obsessed thoroughly dislikeable man. '"Loves Leeds but laughs about them possibly going bust. And if he wasn't so worried about what people thought of him probably would have"sent them bust. All the Leeds United haters will no doubt love him. And for all those saying it was in his contract so he 100% deserves it, how about all the small businesses that got knocked when Leeds went into admin. All those creditors got nothing. Yet his 25% is more important.

🧐 I liked Danny Mills when he played for us but not sure about him now, as he didn’t come across very well like laughing at us and the situation we were in at the time, I know he was doing the best for himself and his family but could of dropped the Leeds pay if he was being paid by 4 different clubs which might of helped us? I think a lot of Leeds fans would agree and are disappointed. Great work though guys as you really do bring out the real person out of the player!

The absolute worst guest you've had on, he has no redeeming characteristics, all about the money, If i was a Leeds fan I'd be fuming, he showed great joy explaining how he could've killed your club
Surprised that he rated Pards over Curbs as best manager. Glad that Curbs/Murray held out for 4.1 mil as well. We bounced straight back up after the season we went down and won the championship. We only lost Mills and brought in a few decent signings with his transfer fee.
