I can't give much advice on the technique or how to play it. But I think you can find a tab on nickdraketabs. com if you need one. The chords should be there. As you can see, I used a capo on the fifth fret. The guitar was in Standard tuning.

I am a fan of good covers, but this, sir, is a GREAT cover. Wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did. I would gladly listen to you play any of Nick Drake's songs.
Determined pace and intricate weaving...but still you maintain the original Drake 'soft despair'. Truly worthy of praise. Tears can flow.
Thank you for listening! I'm not sure what you mean by sensibility. I use a full recording level and medium mic gain on the Zoom itself. Everything else handles my onboard sound, since I record through Garageband on a Macbook. There I make the adjustments according to the instrumental part alone.
I'm not Nick by the way, I'm just paying tribute to one of his songs here.

Nick Drake was just a young man when he wrote this song he had a dream of making music and being a poet. He was very poor and he rented a warehouse space in London there was no heat and he would sit and practice making his music all day long.. sadly he never achieved much success before he died.

I've only now just discovered Nick drake and have been almost obsessed with his music and finding out more about this kindred soul. I feel I have a mammoth task ahead of me as I'm only a guitar beginner but want so much to play like this. I cant afford lessons and will have to go it alone. I know I must practice but there must be some other help I can get to learn to play better.. I wonder how Nick did it?

Sad for not having Nick's live records, glad for you existence.
It depends. Regarding Nicks songs, back then it took me usually up to a week. He has such a wide variety of compositions and approaches. Now, I can't really assess the difficulty anymore. It's definitely overwhelming at first, but with time it became clear. I just kept at it. There comes a certain point when you recognize the individual patterns.

Where did you learn to play this song in its entirety I've only been able to find how to play the intro, also I've binge watched all your nick drake covers they are beautiful
Thanks! Lots of trial and error back then, listening to the recording. But the chords are quite easy and after a while the picking pattern just clicked.

Fantastic job mate- very inspiring.I've been learning guitar for about 2 1/2 years now-soon realised that fingerpicking was what I really loved and with the ultimate goal being to knock out Nick Drake songs like this.I'm just about at a point where I can attempt some of his easier stuff so I've been working on Joey cos it's one of my favs.Anyway, a couple of questions: How long have you been playing and do you have any advice in terms of your approach to practice / getting a song down perfectly?

Tone wise I would advise this.
Want hand in more classical position, and Pick over the sound hole.
Also use really "dead" and well used (like at least 6 months) nickel strings to get the warm low bass

You should put your videos all into a "tribute to nick drake" album. You are by far the most similar to him. It is very hard to match the emotion of this legend of a musician.
