Self harming can come in many forms. Attempting suecide (I know that’s spelled wrong, I am just worried it will flag me for it) is a form of self harming, along with cutting, burning, head banging (meaning slamming your head into things, even self malling (I didn’t know how to spell that one). I only know this because I used to be that way. The only thing is, I started when I was 6, and everyone around told me that it wasn’t enough. That hurting myself wasn’t good enough. I was in a very bad home for 5-6 years where they didn’t care if I lived or dyed. They knew that I was harming myself, how could they not. I never hid it from anyone. But they didn’t care. It took years of therapy to get me to stop. And even with that, sometimes, when I get really upset and I don’t know what else to do, I go back to my bad habits. People self harm for different reasons. Some do it for attention, others do it so they can feel something, and for me, they did it because they were so brainwashed that they believed that they needed to punish themselves. It’s a horrible thing, and all it leads to is more pain and suffering. If anyone has read this far (if this is on here that is), I want you to know that your body is a beautiful piece of art. Your prefect as you are. God made you perfectly. You may not see it, others may not either, but you are fine just as you are. You don not need approval of others. You don’t have to punish your self so harshly. There are other ways to be seen. You are an amazing human being. So, don’t destroy your body because of a situation or a person or a mind set. I know it’s hard. Trust me when I say that, I still struggle with it. Though, I just want you to know, you are beautiful/handsome. Also, to the person who made this video, thank you for bringing this to awareness. Not many people are brave enough to even touch this subject. So thank you 😊

(Her exact words in the show) However, she does eventually come around to the idea of therapists after her father has been taking her to therapist appointments and genuinely trying to understand and help Ginny. She's an amazing mother, loves her childre, would die and would literally kill for her children (I say literally because she has actually killed someone to protect Ginny in the show) but she.. has her flaws with her parenting.
This is so real. I was talking to my mom in her bedroom and my sleeve moved. She asked me what the scratches were. I told her. The line "No, it's not that simple" is the cold hard truth. There is no simple answer or reason. It's always a mixture of things and emotions and situations. It's incredibly difficult to face things like this, and it may feel hopeless and everything, and everything can turn to shit, but most times parents help.
This scene was so emotional, and heartbreaking. I love the representation of everything in here. I cried so hard during this scene, this is almost how my mum reacted when she found out That i SH. Except for the loving part lol. You were a great actor and Ginny and Georgia is such a good show.
I’m so sorry :( TO STOP SH TIP: Draw butterflies on where ever you do sh. Then, name the butterflies after a family member. If you do sh in the area, the butterfly dies. No scratching, peeling, or washing the butterfly off. You can also always ask for a therapist/ counselor, if therapist doesn’t work out or your parents say no, try going to a counselor at school. And a lot of people in my group of SH recoveries have the same story. They got helped bc they were forced to recieve it.

This literally made me cry because I’ve been dealing with SH also and this just spilled out all my emotions. My parents haven’t found out and I don’t know what to feel or do anymore
100% accurate. As a person who is in recovery from SH, this is exactly how it is. Years of therapy and learning different coping skills to SH in a less destructive way helped me. It's why I push myself in the gym and abuse my body there instead of cutting. Most people that go as hard-core as I do in the gym are usually in the same boat. Life is about navigating those peaks and valley's of emotions and know that when you are in the hard times, it won't last forever. We're all doing the best we can in this world. Hang in there!! 💜💜💜

as a person who does it myself, i never got a reaction from my mother like that, she just seemed disappointed, and told me its a nasty habit, and somehow that stopped me to do it anymore, all the cuts have healed and i feel much more healthy.

as a person who does it myself, i never got a reaction from my mother like that, she just seemed disappointed, and told me its a nasty habit, and somehow that stopped me to do it anymore, all the cuts have healed and i feel much more healthy.
