Trying to get my ring finger to watch this video.
Same.
Pinky for me
Omg same
Especially left one 😱
It’s so easy everybody😂😂😂
The fourth finger is the hardest to lift
You're right 😊
the pinky is the hardest to press
@@jacciejaccie383slightly rotate your wrist when pressing a key with the pinky :)👌
It’s because of the infrastructure of the hand. There is a ligament that connects both the middle and ring thus making it harder to move.
😂damn I gues I m not alone
My ring finger won't fucking listen to me
It’s not independent. It’s literally connected tot the 3rd finger by tendons. This exercise is pointless
I think what the uploader forgot to mention is that for this to work properly, you should be holding the notes down with the weight of your arm, not by pushing with the fingers. You can only lift the 4th finger independently by having a relaxed 3rd and 5th finger. In general, whenever you hit the bottom of the keys, you must be able to relax your fingers at the bottom and keep the keys held with gravity and arm weight rather than finger squeezing. Hope that helps!
Me: "Oh that's easy"
Ring and Middle Fingers: "Lol nah"
So true I just tried it is so hard
As a pianist I don’t understand this comment
@@Vazivthink it means that the ring finger will sometimes make the middle finger and pinky finger to move along
@@MarbleWinner578 he commented this everywhere under who said this, probably just being a little arrogant
@@PixlyPenguin ah ok
Yo, my pinky is up like I'm fancy as shit
😂 mine too! Too cocky to follow the orders.
I barely can move my ring finger😭🙏
Thank you that’s a good tip. I would also recommend going up and down those five notes to practice doing steps. What is teaching you is the basic fundamentals now if you are in advance for intermediate advance player, this might not help as much. For the beginner and intermediate level players; absolutely
Is the stiffness smth that betters with time ? Feels like my ring fingers have no power and keep pulling my middle finger down :|
It hard
I think at almost any level of proficiency this can still be quite testing, if you escalate to playing randomly chosen note sequences, sometimes repeating a particular note, with *any* upwards movement by any of the other fingers, or uneven tone, tempo or volume, considered a fail.
Using the left hand!
To get to that level, assuming you have nailed it in the right hand, then try with both hands simultaneously, mirroring about either D or Ab - for most people this is actually a very useful stepping stone to doing difficult passages with the left hand.
@@Gottenhimfella And that is the problem with Yanni compositions you have to be precise and consistent. If you have one slip up that is game over if you are just one half a note off or one finger placement off. As you know Yanni likes to use a lot of complex left handed inverted chords and Ont he right hand he likes to play a lot of double note octaves. These are advanced theories. I got to get good on the digital side. Tell me I got a Clavinova Yamaha 745. I got to download the Yamaha app to fully unlock its true potential. I am saving up for a Japanese U1 Yamaha btw. I am a Yamaha addict if there was a Yamaha anonymous 😂 Good points and I can tell you were classically trained like me. I am guessing perhaps Europe? I was in Vienna. I have family in 🇩🇪 🇷🇺 and 🇮🇹 so all the musical ,” and peaceful,@ counties lol and Side note my grandfather was Marshall Zhukov and I was a Colonel in the USMc. Trust me in that stressful job, music saved my life. It’s lone what Nietzsche said,@ without music, life would be a mistake.”
There is a study dedicated to finger independence and development, in Alfred Cortot’s Rational principles of pianoforte technique. The exercises included in the daily finger gymnastics section at the start are similar to the one shown here.
Liszt had a crazy exercise. (Right hand) hold g# (2) and b (4) and repeat an fmaj with the other three fingers
That is crazy, says a beginner😂
Lisztzy also used to do five finger attacks and then move the whole hand at incredible speed at the keyboard and make it sound like an even progression as opposed to three finger thumb under runs. Can't compare a lot of people to him especially beginning students who this video is good for.
@@geu6270 I think the exercise in this video (with some additional criteria) is very suitable for intermediate and even advanced students. I tried escalating it to playing randomly chosen note sequences, sometimes repeating a particular note. I chose to regard as a fail *any* upwards movement by any of the other fingers, or uneven tone, tempo or volume.
Using the left hand.
For me, that was almost as difficult as the very intersting Liszt exercise from Taisin (with which I was not familiar). I can do it with my right hand, but at present it eludes my left (mirroring the keys, in other words holding down F and Bb with 4 and 2, and playing an Emin triad intermittently with 5, 3 and 1. By tomorrow, that will be remedied!
This is a good idea. I will try this.
Sir you are best inspiration for me.I won piano award in my school
Thank you 💗
Congratulations!
how old are u
My teacher asked me to do that, both hands together, 3 reps of 4. He also told me to do finger 1-2-1-2-3-2-3-2-3-4-3-4... and descending. And the last one which is not easy, two finger at the same time and altering between 3-5 and 2-4 and mixing hand with 3-5 on one hand and 2-4 on the other... that one explode your brain. And finaly rythm 2 against 3 and 3 against 4 on two hands with that last fingering.
Looks like a Hannon exercise
@@dookoonu2741 I havn't seen them in Hannon. I think Hannon is made to get speed. These exercices are more to get fingers independence.
@@vergauwenmartial You're right, similar but not the same
@@dookoonu2741That’s Dohnanyi :)
That’s wild!
I can confirm that it does work. It worked great for me !
A lil trick is to lift the whole hand and let your fingers fall instead of pushing them down that will help with way more things too
Thank you
Super useful.
Crazy as it sounds, just tap on surfaces all day long. It’s nice having a piano to hear the “tune” but imagine you’re listening to drums, make your thumb the snare, ring the kick, or whatever. To start only use two parts of the “kit” so just practice doing a basic beat with your middle and ring finger.
Wait good idea but also don’t “lift” your fingers off the keys like that - as far as future habits go, the key to playing fast is a lot of efficiency of movement - your fingers do not need to leave the key for the sound to stop and it’s less wasted energy
I love using my fingers ...
Thanks, Jazer.
Indeed, Maestro 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
haha these challenges - love them!
This really helped me. Thanks
Gracias maestro, columbo said I am from south Africa
Thank you.
Great idea 💡💡💡
Love this thank you
Gracias Maestro :)
Saludos desde Colombia
Thanks Master :)
Greetings from Colombia
Never thought about this approach, wow. 👍 Got a workout on the finger independence ahead
Nice
I’m really glad I played finger style guitar before I started piano lol I like this exercise. Musician’s fingers are sacred.
Thankyou👌👌👌
Thanks
😮😮 This is so simple but dope! I didn’t realize how lacking some of my fingers are. Thanks! I subscribed!
Mesmerizing ❤❤❤
Just a note, it's much easier to do this on a regular piano than a keyboard. I've done it with both and it was very hard on the keyboard.
Do you have weighted keys?
@@HelloThere6043 in the keyboard? I think it does. I rarely play it now.
I got it to help my dad out with church services that he was doing at a local nursing home. They closed it down due to covid, and he was unable to do them when they opened back up due to his health.
My husband was diagnosed with cancer, and couldn't handle hearing the piano. So I practiced on the keyboard in another room with the volume turned way down.
They both passed away last year. So, unless I'm going away, I don't really play it now.
I thought it would have been the other way around.
@@stephenburnett458 my piano is old. It's a beautiful piano and has a very nice sound to it. The keys are very easy to press
But, it can't be worked on without having a domino effect.
It's in tune with itself but is a half tone off.
Saw this and immesdiately tired it on my keyboard it really is hard
It really helpt me🎉
thanks ❤!
Brings back memories!!!! Early training!!!!
Brilliant 😊
Good😊
Good idea I'll try this
I will try
My left ring finger has its own mind🥲
Try this on black keys also:)
Oh. Helpful. Thanks to make me focus on Black keys
The advice is timeless, and yes, I am a fan!
bro ur the best
Nailed it first try..
This is useful thanks I'm learning how to play interstellar it works well
Looked at my ring finger and sighed
Thats good
A step above this exercise could doing the same with multiple fingers, like pulling up the index and middle finger together, and then pressing them
Thanks, now I've got something to keep me practicing while I wait for my piano teacher
Can you do a vid about playing consistent basslines whiles vamping with the right hand
Ring finger is killing me 😭
Hi thanks for tip, just wondered would this tip help when playing sonatas by Beethoven and mozart, iam thinking specifically Mozart sonata A minor k 310 1st movement, and Sonata k 331 A major 1st movement variation 4 - 6, and Beethoven sonata pathetique 1st movement Allegro do molto di con brio, and the 3rd movement rondo allegro and do you please have any other tips for these sonatas I mentioned, thank you, greetings from wales uk.
My fingers were screaming while watching this
Thanks i actually a beginner in piano
Easy
yes but you have to say that the attention is not on the repetition but on the relax mode the other fingers have to develop. Repetition of this exercise without the right technique is not going to work
Not my ring finger being the only pain in the hand.
Good tip ❤
Glad you think so!
@@jazerleepianoHelp me this is so hard😢
Cortot❤️
Fourth finger: lmao bro thought
Good
It’s highlighted a weakness in my number 4 finger on each hand.
I think we all have it, mostly due to the structure of the hand and the tendons and muscles to that finger. I also find my mind-to-finger messages aren't that good either!
That’s just how the ring finger is, this exercise might damage your hand if you force your finger to lift. The best way to gain finger independence is by playing fugues in my opinion.
So this is very cool but in Indian music we have something called alankars. It’s first 1 key then double, triple and the quarter in one.
The ring finger is always the hardest to press 😂
My last finger sucks every time. I’ll practice this and let you know ❤
Used to do this while I went to sleep as a child tapping on my pillow making up melodies.
LOL thats a good way to practice and and good way to pass time lol
that was something even a beginner could think of
but its effective
There’s a book for this - Dohnanyi’s exercises
I think my ring finger and pinky finger are welded together 😂
Basically the first exercise in Cortot's manual.
My pinkie always wants to tag along when I lift my ring finger.
my hands are just too small xd
Yours is a derivative of Leschetizky's exercise. Leschetizkly was Czerny's pupil and taught many GOAT pianists, including Paderewsky and Schnabel, who then taught many of the 20th C. greats. John Perry teaches this exercise. But the classic version is not to slap the keys. Rather, you hold the 5 keys down using only the weight of the arm, then press each key down in a straight and slow rhythm pattern (2--2-2-2hold, 3-3-3-3hold, etc, ending on 1), allowing only the rebound mechanism of the key to push each finger up. This simultaneously builds strength and forces you to relax the fingers and hand after each action. This doesn't involve the arm. It's harder but really builds strength, independence, and a calm hand.
Sympa cet exo, je commence demain.
Didn't realize my Ring Finger is useless until I watched this clip 😅
I feel like I have to press the keys really hard for them to stay down, a strength workout also 😂
Hasn’t Jazer got lovely hands. Mine look like they belong to the corpse bride in comparison. 😂
naww jit insulted himself :(
Now suddenly I am Hans Zimmer.
I played on many left handed piano but was gave lesson for right so I now older and still left handed is so stiffened from right
the issue we all have with the ring finger is because our middle and ring finger share the same tendon and it's split in half!! that's is why it's hard to separate them THEY ARE CONNECTED with the same cord nerv
this was easy, i still need to learn hand independance tho
She liked it
I noticed my 4th finger was stiff 😂
Thank you.
My Ringfinger struggles 😂
The ringggg fingers 🤌🤌🤌🤌
👍👍👍
Schmidt method ❤
*for intermediate to advanced pianists plz*
Beginners and early intermediates should use other drills first. This is a very advanced technique and practice.
I kinda always play like this, I kinda dont need the pedal because i'm always holding the notes, but recently I discovered this is bad because it makes you tense and don't relax =/
My ring finger says no. Lol. Will practice!!
I kinda heard life could be dream
My fingers all got messed up😂
Yea, the fourth finger is slight problem. I'll go get a Schumann contraption to fix that.
Wow I just realized that compared to any other finger, my ring finger is almost dead okay
It went pain... pain. :)
My ring finger acting like it’s deadlifting… 🙄
