Inside the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya Thailand, what a place this is and well worth visiting!

  • The Sanctuary of Truth here in Pattaya was started in 1981 and is completely constructed out of wood. Held together with strategic wooden pins and joints and not a nail or screw in sight! Astonishingly impeccably intricate master carving at its best that I have ever seen. I give absolute credit to the masters who worked on the project.
This is one of the most amazing buildings not just here in pattaya, Thailand, but in the world!

Hi Trevor, thanks very much for this vlog. It’s taken me back, even when you climbed down those steep stairs and put on the protective hat it was like taking me there. I visited there every time when in Pattaya over an eight-year period and it’s a majestic place every visit. One particular detail that’s needed for anyone wishing to visit the Sanctuary of Truth: if you arrive for midday or 3pm tours you will be treated to traditional Thai dance and martial art demonstrations. In all it’s a truly spiritual place. By the way, the guide Lauren is from the Philippines. Her English diction is recognisable among the Tagalog-taught population. The tour is most recommended and thanks again for showing us around.

The sheer magnificent beauty & craftmanship is breathtaking. This will be one of those wonderful places as a first time visitor to Pattaya you will regret not seeing because you have woken up late everyday with a hangover, while laying in bed watching the young lady get dressed and leave as you sober up & realise she had rather a large Adams apple and very big hands 🥴...So you cry yourself back to sleep & miss visiting the museum.

@@Buzzinpattaya In hindsight I think you have to say to yourself: I'll pick 5 or 6 statues, study them closely and reflect on the workmanship (not for a video, but just for your soul). The boobs in the woodshed were plastic (must be "post-modern" style), but the boobs near the entrance look real.
In Paris there's a statue (a bust, oops) of Dalida, and you feel her breasts for good luck. You can Google it. No patina on them at all. 👍🇹🇭🇫🇷 🤣🤣.

One thing that instantly comes to mind...........with the complexity of the structure, there surely must be architectural plans somewhere but one doesn't see anything of the kind.
No obvious engineer, foreman, work site safety officer handing out fines.
Many commercial building sites I've worked on could do well to follow their examples.
Mind boggling example, thanks. I have seen similar example of carvings and timber buildings in Thailand but not to that large amount in one place.
I think one of the kings palaces was a large timber "house" but forget where it was now.

Lek’s sister had a car, and a couple of children, and we were on a day trip to Nong Nooch Gardens and then the Temple of Truth. We had lunch at the restaurant. Her family was saying they would wait in the restaurant because it was too expensive. I was having none of that and paid for everyone to enter. They really really loved it. If you have a chance to bring Thais, who would otherwise never be able to afford it, please do it. They will love you for it.

Your guide is a Filipina, I recognize her accent. Woodworking is a very rewarding accomplished skill. Love the smell of wood and the touch of my wood in my hands.

Awesome video Trevor, what a lot of work that has gone into the carvings and building of the Sanctuary of Truth. Oh and by the way that Helmet is a great improvement on the WW2 Japanese Helmet. Thanks for sharing.

Great walking tour Trev. It's been a while since I've been there. It truly has grown a lot! definitely worth another visit when I get back there. There is a sense of calm and peace when you visit there that you cannot feel anyplace else. A place to go when you need to recharge and find another perspective. Thanks Much!
