So I've connected to the app. And added her contacts but when she asked to call me, it said I was not on the contact list. Also we linked her fire TV. It will turn it on and off but will not change channels. It keeps saying to setup video and TV which we have. Can you help address this problem? We were both frustrated after 2 hours.

Thanks, I don’t know what the options are there but to change the voice, you need to download the Alexa app on your phone, select the echo dot and there is an option to change the voice
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, czcams.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

This is actually a 63-year-old disabled person who thought that the year of learning would be great. So we didn't turn off the child part. We just added her nickname as the child's name. After 2 hours of constant trying to get it to turn her TV channel! We gave up. Any help you could give us would really be appreciate it. She is in an assisted living and she wants to be more independent by being able to call her contacts and turn the TV on and off and change the channels to what she likes to watch. So now she's able to turn it on and off but not change her channels

It’s an option in the Alexa app on your phone. Or you can simply say “Alexa change your wake word to echo”
There are a few choices for wake words,

You can change each echo dots wake word. So one can be Alexa and another could be echo or computer, etc

Can these Amazon Alexa be used for adults too? As in can I pair my Apple Music to it so my mother can listen to her adult songs? Or are these strictly for kids?
Sure adults can use it. I don't think it supports Apple Music though since it's an Amazon device, you can get Amazon music for it. You can also use it as a bluetooth speaker.

Yes it will work, just won’t have those extra features you get with Amazon Kids+
So we HAVE to accept the Amazon Plus stuff to use a kid's echo dot? We don't want to use any of the kid parts, we just want to set up an Alexa spot that looks cute.
There's a part that says do you want it to be for a kid? Something like that that you can turn it off. My friend wanted it on so we left it on and she's an adult
