Arid lore has been canceled. Well, not really. There is still environmental lore, but Renaxon has gone on record saying that he won't be adding lore notes anymore. As disappointing as that is, it won't stop me. I'm here to tell you my theory about Arid, it's backstory, it's current story, and why it is actually set in the main Unturned universe. This is the story of Arid: The Hidden Nation.

Well since Arid is set in a somewhat somewhat identical Afghan environment, shouldn’t be one of the dialects spoken there like Farsi, Pashto, or Dari?

Maybe airdrops are being sent by scorpion 7 themselves? If they want to test something they'd want to make it last long. Maybe this is why airdrops in arid include food,water,and crafting supplies.

After seeing the video i think the airdrops can be probably sended for the pmc or u.s.a to because the heli looks like a Chinook and this 2 entities got acces to practically the same arsenal but i dont discard skorpion 7
Honestly this theory connects a lot of dots, it explains the “past bio weapon contract” and the fact there’s no special zombies, only defaults. Scorpion 7 really is this universes Umbrella Corporation.
Honestly everything mentioned here kind of makes sense, me and some friends had speculated the part about Arid being the original outbreak location because of the time differences too. We need to petition for Renaxon to add more notes so we have a trail to follow.

The existence of some modern firearms and systems, such as the ShAK-12 and the keymod rail systems imply that the map is actually set a lot later than the 90s.

I get what you are saying, my personal experience with problems like that is for example Black ops Cold War. But I digress, I really think that Arid is supposed to be set after the failed Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, a decade later.@@roadtrippin1753

Okay, so here's my list of my own schizo theories/opinions.
1: Arid is probably based on Afghanistan, or perhaps Iraq, because of the statue in the city, probably a reference to the Saddam statue.
2: The reason why the Soviets occupied Arid is because there were Insurgent presence throughout the map (based on the real events in the Soviet-Afghanistan invasion), so they need to settle it down.
3: Tamara is probably built for intel gathering, hence there's a large satellite in it.
4: Those PMC bases or the so called "Forward Operating Bases" were created to gather intel about the invasion in the territory.
5: Reason why there are zombies in this region is because not so long after the virus was created, the Turned began expanding into other countries, such as of course... Arid
6: Fort Knell, or perhaps, Embassy Knell, was probably surrounded by the Turned when it got to the country.
7: The tank driven straight through the fort is probably caused when the tank became out of control because of the crew getting eaten by zombies.
8: When the turned finally reached the abandoned bunker complex, they probably caused the meltdown of the submarine.
9: It would make sense that the Soviets would evacuate to the Airfield, because they would evacuate their remaining forces by planes or helos.
10: Fort Knell was here a long time ago, during the invasion of Arid as well.
11: The meeting inside Fort Knell was probably about the current situation of the zombie apocalypse.
12: The MLRS pointing at the F.O.B camps is just a coincidence.
13: Arid is an old country. It was once in the middle of WW2, hence why there are German equipment and the shipwreck of an old warship near the safezone.
14. It is unsure who or what nation funds the PMC, but it is most likely the Americans, considering the gear they have. PMCs are here in order to eradicate the Soviet influence and occupation in Arid.
Maybe these PMC's are not a part of a military branch and were hired by Scrpion 7 or some group attacked Fort Knell and probably during the attack stole the tank and drove it straight trough the building as for is being a deadzone well a vast majority of land the surrounds Fort knell is a deadzone my explanation for this is that Scorpion 7 probably released some sort of a special version of the infection that spread through fort knell and the surrounding area or some sort of invisible gas hence why you need a hazmat suit to go there

I would believe that Fort Knell possibly had a meltdown similar to AG-19, but the radiation wouldn’t be somewhat contained inside a submarine.

I always though Arid and Elver were in the same alternate earth and In arid there was either a direct war between the U.S. and Soviet Russia, or American PMCs and Soviet insurgents armed by Russia. And so when the ritual in elver was complete anyone who died worldwide would rise again. And war had a lot of death.

Nowadays it's safe to assume Buak was the place everything begun. From exploring the S7 deadzone, based on the calendars, it's 1979. It buak didn't have the first outbreak, but it is definitely the place that the infection was originally being studied to make the cure for death itself which we learn after killing 4th boss.
On Buak its 2018, because the spoiled antibiotics have the description that says: Spoiled nearly half a decade ago! And the model itself has a XX/XX/2013 mark.
I think, from what I could find with some brief research, Buak takes place 4 years after the outbreak, so 2020-2022. It's possible that the Scorpion-7 deadzone was a lab that was abandoned in the 70s, maybe due to whatever leak that created the deadzone.

the map is actually taking place in Afghanistan but due to common stereotypes (i think) the map has arabic names in it (im from Iran which is next to Afghanistan)

2:15 not really. Thats just how Modern American Military bases look. They have big civilian department. This also looks like a CIA outpost. I think that this base was made after the Soviet ones.
As for the tunnel, someone made a fun hard-core map called Adwire. It's honestly a fun map
Considering that arid doesn't have the fire, invis and spitter zombies it being a testing ground for the biological weapon makes alot of sense
Yo Knight, love your lore vids. I like your theory about Arid lore, but personally I don't think it is set in the 80s-90s. I believe that it is set after the main outbreak in 2016. I do still believe that it was a testing ground for Scorpion-7, and that they did infect the Afghanistan-like country of Arid while it was under Soviet rule. The PMC bases could be CIA camps that were investigating the Soviet occupation. However, if Arid was set in the 80s-90s, why are there modern weapons for sale (the Zolash Mod 1, WKM 12.7, TX-45, GP460S, etc) at the traders as well as spawning at Fort Knell? My personal lore, is that the survivor is connected to the traders in the safezone, who were sent to Arid to investigate the origins of the virus. Fort Knell, the deadzone in the top left of the map, was a US-backed coalition main base that was constructed to try and discover the origin of the virus in the reigion. During the operation of the base, something catastrophic happened there. A horde approached the base and threatened to destroy it. 2 missile trucks, loaded with missiles similar to the Thanato missiles used in Greece, were deployed to try and quell the horde. They were too late. The base was overrun, the missiles sabotaged by the US forces in a last ditch effort to destroy the area/horde, therefore irradiating the entire area around the base. Soon after contact with Fort Knell was lost, a small force was mustered to set up a safezone in the region. The force consisted of people from multiple countries, as suggested by the Norwegian patch on one of the traders. You are deployed into the area a while after the original group was sent in, which could by why there are so few zombies in the main city. This could also explain why there are so many more zombies in the airfield/radar base because they didn't have the manpower to advance that far. You are then tasked to find out what really happened here, as well as finish cleaning up the area and attempt rebuilding this once thriving country. But that's just my headcanon for Arid. Let me know what you think.

Even with the buak map drop with the LOREEE this theory still might be correct. As buak is the first scorpion seven lab and with their expansion to washington maybe in the 80s they could have found the alien ship and started the experiment for immortality. Producing anomalies and then finally the final version of the turned virus that they sent to arid for testing.
Those speakers gave me a metaphorical heart attack.
My theory is that the Soviet presence in Arid is from the late 1980s, because the jets at the airfield are MIG-21s (I am assuming) and the MIG-21 was put out of service from 1990 to 1992.
and the US presence shows that the US army came in the mid 2000s (because of the UCP camo which was adopted in 2005 and put out of service in 2019)
so the Soviet union had been in arid since possibly the late 1980s, and because they still have the USSR flag after the US came is because they are a rogue branch of the Soviet army that kept operating. I doubt that the PMC camps are against the US because in one of the camps you can find a key to one of the rooms in Fort knell and I checked and the MLRS rockets had been pointed at the big bunker tunnel entrance thing south west of the safezone. In fort knell is an Abrams tank crashed into the main building, I feel like that was taken by either some unknown army, against the US occupation, possibly by the force who owns those technicals scattered around the map, or a rogue US soldier, who decided to steal it when the infection reached Knell, or maybe it was just some survivors who went to knell days after the infection reached ( I will get to how they got there since knell is a deadzone) I believe that the US army had some presence north east of where knell is, where it had a large radiological threat, possibly some nuclear reactor meltdown. But when Knell got overrun with the infection, the survivors I mentioned, had tried to loot the fort but had a battle with the infected, explaining the damage to the Fort. this all possibly happened before the possible nuclear meltdown. I think that the infection had barely just reached arid at the time of playing the map because of the lack of special zombies (excluding mega zombies and the groundpounder at knell).
(A theory about the Airdrops)
The airdrops are carried out by the Coalition OR the airdrops are carried out by the US or any other NATO remnant operating in the area.
(A theory about the PMCs)
The PMCs in Arid were hired by the US government to protect scientists from Scorpion-7 from being infected while trying to release the infection in Abu Al-Kaba'er.
(A lot of the stuff I didn't mention is filled in with either from the video, like AG19 being irradiated or just I forgot to mention it.)
I thought that Arid was just Libya, I casually played and didn't know there was actual lore.
I really want to start a CZcams series about unturned and it's lore and I really like ur theory about arid bc it makes sense and I'll start from there and then Washington and then pei etc and I am watching you videos closely for the lore and stuff. I love your videos btw
i spoke with renaxon on a official server a while ago and he told me a few plans for arid including new vehicles and spawn point for the racer

Are we sure Arid takes place in the 90s? I mean, we have SSDs hard drives and USBs scattered around the map. I say the soviet zombies are soldiers of the country of Arid A country torn by fights between government that uses old soviet equipment and insurgents. America makes an appearance with it's PMCs (since they use ARs and stuff). All hell breaks loose, Submarine has a meltdown but it is partially contained in the submarine. Something similar happens at fort Knell but since it is open space, deadlier radiation. Anyway, this is headcannon. If there is lore in the game(aka notes) to disproove my thoery, feel free to comment.
How you can get into a bunker with camera and you dont have bunker effect ?

I have a speculation of why fort knell is a stage 2 deadzone. It couldve been scorpion-7 who released the diesease there so the pmc doesnt get the data from the server room thats why you dont see any zombies thrre.

1.) how did you view the AG19 Bunker? , without the dark area effect? And how did you get it to load in from a normal game, unless you used the editor?
2.) what buildings are you referring to at 2:30 , the entrances to ag-17/18? Where are the civilian spawns in said buildings?

Honestly, this may connect to the upcoming curated map by danaby in progress, since the next map is said it's going to be based off Norway. Or maybe it's just a small clue for it, like in Elver, there was a flag of Arid sonewhere at the time before Arid was launched.
I don't remember if you mentioned this in the Elver story video, but judging by the billboard (something like 2r 2020 hype hype), the whole world was infected after 2020?
And yes, I know that Elver is another universe, but why not assume
maybe the deadzone at knell was caused by the howitzer at the northern PMC camp firing chemical shells at knell since its pointed there, maybe they fired it after leaving to stop the americans reclaiming it
this also doesn't explain how there's Nvidia RTX type graphics cards which can be sold to the nomad

theres no way the map was taken in the 90's because of one small but big difference the american soldiers you see in fort knell are wearing UCP camo uniforms, the UCP camo was adopted by the US army in the early 2010's so yeah there was a chance that you could tweet out how you can help arid

Fort knell is a dz potentially from depleted uranium (basically radioactive) and depleted uranium is use for m1 Abrams tanks Wich are present at fort knell and yeah that basically my theory about fort knell
With the new Escaping Outlands update for Kuwait, there’s the Kuwait military officer named Snow. The scorpion7 takes place in 2016 while arid takes place in 1983. In the new outlands when you do the quests for it, all the npcs teleport away and you find snow in arid in the watchtower at safe zone. So my theory is when snow teleported away from Kuwait. She reappeared in arid years in the past. But the zombies were teleported with her. And if you do snows quest, she gives you a damaged version of the Arabic AK from the Kuwait map
Well, Snow's been there in Arid, log before the escaping outlands quest. In Snow's quest in Arid, she gave you the Al-Musaytir as a souvenir for her time in Kuwait.

So it could have been that the guy put snow in bc he know that Kuwait was gonna have that update, they’ve had all the outlands stuff in Kuwait, it was just never accessible. Aswell Kuwait and arid are connected by a lot of things like the musics and such

If we would take a look at in real life history and Kuwait, Operation Desert Storm happened in the 90's. This pretty much, affected Kuwait too. Snow was deployed in Desert Storm. This wasn't her first time in a warzone tho, she was also deployed in Arid too. But i guess your theory would make sense too
@@klaushauschen it can’t be in the 90s, the Soviet Union fell in 1990 and desert storm wasn’t a war against the Soviets. But in 1983 that was during the Soviet Afghan war. When the Soviets were fighting the local militias and the US was backing them up by providing support and weapons to use against the Soviets.
Also the arid page says it takes place in 1983 and Arid is Afghanistan. It’s just given a different name

I know Arid was in the period of the Soviet-Afghan war. Im just saying, that it may actually took place much later. Some remaining soviet forces are left behind, deserted or trapped in the country, unaware that the Soviet Union has fell. The newspaper that says 1983 written on the page may be an older news source.

i do wonder though, if the virus came from the alien ship were the aliens simply carrying a dormant virus/virus they had grown to be immune to. With this theory, is it possibly that the dormant virus was able to actually awaken in earths enviroment, or is it just due to humans not having an immunity to it the way the aliens did

Never knew Arid had much of a lore. I didn’t like arid as much because of how much it limited the creativity of the players when it came to building. But I’m watching excitedly to learn!
What about the car that somehow got onto the top of a building in the city with no reason to be there and also it being a deadzone that requires a full biohazard suit

the tank rushing on the inside could be either a extraction or a pilot that crush into the building cos was turning in a zed, that could be the reason that the air drops came in a chinook since i don't se either a hind or either soviet vehicle besides the ground ones

Well yeah... Elver, Kuwait and Arid are all connected because they're from the same map creator, Danaby. So that explains why there is Snow in every Danaby map.

The trucks with machine guns, aa guns and mounted rocket launcher are probably from the bandits or/and the freedom fighters

Your idea is very interesting and a great guesstimation, but unfortunately cant hold itself up over the simple fact of one of the weapons found in fort knell. The M32 grenade launcher was only designed in the late 90's, and only even field tested with only 200 made by like 2005. thus, with the fort having one on the field in a region like this, it has to be post 2000 when this is taking place 😭 guess its just not meant to fit in, i just wish people werent lazy and put time into making lore for their maps.
even if you want to argue with this fact, best you can get is maybe 1980-90 since it was an idea then... forget 1960.
I have since amended my theories because of anachronisms like this and I might make an update video in the future I'm not entirely sure. Also I agree I wish people would put more time into the lore of their maps cause more people care about it than they think

The thing that's wrong about this video is that Arid is set in probably not 1990, which is the last year when the soviet union wasnt completely falling apart. Everyone saw the downfall jn near sight as the Berlin wall went down, so this video cant be correct.
And the airdrop send by USA and Germany cus those loots and that helicopter we can know
