I’m a single mom, living on an acre with a lot of trees to maintain. This is my first chainsaw and I was a little nervous, despite this saw being quite straightforward and intuitive to put together. Thank you so much for your easy, fun video. You explained and demonstrated just like my Dad used to. Reminded me of him and I appreciate you taking the time to share this... thank you!
Thanks for your kind words! Please subscribe to my channel. More vids to come!
Hi Teri, I'm a single mom too. I see you wrote this around 11 months ago. My question is: how do you feel about it now? I just purchased a home with 0.80 acre and need to do a lot of tree cleaning. I bought the Sunjoe, but haven't assembled it yet. Your thoughts are appreciated!
@@winkingchick I have owned this chainsaw since Nov of 2017. I bought it on a black Friday deal week for $49 (a steal now) I am a single woman who has no kids but I do a lot of the tree pruning/yardwork myself. This chainsaw has been great and my sister and her husband even used it to chop down her huge old oak tree that was rotten in the center. It cut down some pretty huge logs. Its still going strong 4 years later. The only thing with chainsaws is that the chains do go dull after some time of using them. Just make sure you buy a good chainsaw chain sharpener kit from Amazon or buy chainsaw chains to have on hand if you need to swap them out quickly.
Thanks for sharing this video. My husband doesn’t want anything to do with the trees in our backyard, so it’s up to me 💪🏽!
Reminds me of Clint Eastwood doing yard work
Brilliant review. I’ve had an almost identical experience as yours. I was shopping for a standard pruning pole, and ran across the electric pole saw for nearly $20 more. I bought the same Sun Joe model as yours. Outstanding overview. I don’t know who you are, but I know genius when I see it.
_"...And I said, 'Why would I get one that I have to go like this when I could just plug this baby in'...?"_ HAHA! In plain English and with all sensibility-love it!
Thank you for posting.
Thanks for the post. Dont worry about all the critiquing and cant hear whiners. All i did was turn the VOLUME UP a little. I cant wait them to tell me if i spelled critiquing correctly. What a bunch of whimper whiners. Thanks again im gonna go buy one.
Mine just arrived and I'm about to take down some overgrowth and i wanted to see a video before i start choppin'. Thanks for this! I look forward to your other videos!
THANK YOU so much for sharing…I just got mine and can’t wait to try it…so much to do in my yard & I hate climbing ladders
That was nice!! I just bought one 2 weeks ago and this video was extremely helpful! Much appreciated!
Dennis Hopper Lives !!!!!!!
The guy has character😎. Good presentation on how it works👍
Great review! I could hear you fine. Thank you!
It uses Chain Saw oil for lubricating the chain. You can buy it at any hardware store or Home Depot Lowe’s, etc.
I just bought one and after seeing your demo I am so anxious to use it!
Just bought one using your link saved me $10 from the other one on Amazon same model. Thanks!
This is an utterly convincing review of the product. Thank you.
I just purchased both the trimmer and the pole chain pole saw ,can’t wait till I get it. I am 68 and do all my gardening keeps me in shape. 😂
Great to hear. Age doesn’t seem to be a barrier for us! We both love gardening and backyard warrior projects. I’m glad you want with son Joe great product. I’m sure you’re going to love your pole saw and trimmer. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t yet. Need the support. Thanks and good luck
I have a Sun Joe wood chipper. Works great once you get the hang of it.
This is my first electric chainsaw. I was stunned to see how this machine holds the chain with just two anchor points, one of which just barely raises above the chainsaw plate! On top of that, the entire chain saw assembly is protected with a clumsy thin plastic cover held by a single nut! Hopefully, it will not be as dangerous as I fear when I start using it. Coming to this video, thanks for sharing it. At least now I can rest assured that people use it and are still alive!
Don’t worry. Even gas chainsaws are designed like this. It will work fine.
Nice review and cool dog!
Great informative video. This tool is a must when you have trees. We have many various palms where some have large thorns and others have very thick prongs and a few trees including a giant Mango and Amazon Beauty Leaf. We moved up to a cordless 40 volt electric and never looked back. A little heavy for the ladies but with limited use they handle it just fine. The chain saw also detaches. I can vouch for the 10 inch 40-volt Electric Cordless 2-in-one adjustable pole chainsaw made by Earthwise.
Agreed Michael! Thanks for the informative comment! Cordless lithium IS the best way to go! Earthwise was a great choice and it shows you did your research! I went with an electric because at the time I was comparing it to a basic manual saw which is not much cheaper. Since I only use the pole saw a couple of times a year I wanted one on the cheaper side - But to those who want the most convenient and are willing to spend a bit more GO Cordless lithium battery as you wisely suggested!
My Sunjoe stripped its gears after hardly any use. I’ve had it for about four years but never hardly touched it. Any comments about Sunjoe sending me the fix? I hate throwing it away, it looks brand new, oh well.
I just bought this and it comes in later today, sprung for the red version! Your video is very informative and you make it look so easy to put together. Wish me luck, I got a large project ahead the next couple of days restoring the backyard to its former glory.
With this? It should be done in a single afternoon.
I just bought one, thank you…..
Just bought one. Can't wait to try it out. Thank you for the review. Happy new year.
You have me sold. Thank you
Great video thanks! Picked up this Sun Joe at Home Depot and can’t wait to use!
The 100 cord is the maximum , not a minimum. # 16 or #14 wire is not "heavy duty". Go to #12 for 200' of wire or you'll burn out the motor. (The higher the number, the smaller the wire) For 8 amps you can use 100' of #14 but #12 is recommended. For 200' you have to use #12. Also, the 8 amps is probably only the running amps. The starting amps are higher and may require a larger size (smaller number) wire. You need to do a bit of studying and/or consulting. Basically for 200' you need # 12 or larger wire (smaller #)
I used to sell both electric and gas powered chainsaws.
From time to time we'd have a customer come in with an electric chainsaw that was burnt out and even the plastic casing was warped from the heat.
In every case the customer had exceeded the 100 ft. maximum extension cord length using regular 14 gauge wire.
I bought the milwaukee m18, but that's because I'm already on the battery platform. Plug in stuff works great for me
Thank you for the demo and review!! Very helpful as I'm shopping for a pole chain saw.
Looks more like a maple. Just bought one of these to trim white pines .Good review.
I just bought SunJoe Pole Saw like yours except it is not electric, it has a battery pack!
I bought it at Sam's club for $99 and it comes with an extra chain 😀 . I'm a single woman too and didn't know how to use it so I watched your video and it really helped me. Thank you!
Are the Batteries Rechargeable?
Are the Batteries Rechargeable?
@@vaaviworld3787 yes they are
I believe this saw is the best answer to running a covid-safe nail salon. Simply extend the pole to the 6 foot length, and nails can be trimmed with ease while maintaining the proper social distance..
Some of your "dead branches" still have leaves ;-)
Great review. I just bought one of these yesterday, and I'm ready to let errr rip.
Thanks for spending the time
BTW: I agree on both electric tools, as well as funnels, but, considering I will only be using this once or twice a year, rolling out a cord won't be too bad
You sir, just sold me a chainsaw. Like you, I have a regular chain saw, but I have two ultra prolific trees and I cannot, rather will not, shell out $2k / year to keep the trees maintained. I have the sun joe chipper for the up to 1.5" branches - works like a little champ, it is most adequate, and now with this little pole saw, I'll do the trees.
Thank you. I bought a smaller version from HD. Great video and explanation. Be careful where you stand.
I just purchased this pole saw, l got some palms I need to trim. Only complaint I heard about this tool is the oil reservoir is too small. For the price, it's a great tool to have around, plus I'm getting a light duty chain saw (MODEL SWJ807E). thanks for the review.
Nice review.
Great video. Cool accent. Rhode Island? 'Sounds like my relatives back there. Thanks again.
Thank you very much! I just ordered one of these because of your video.
Thanks for letting me know Guy. I’m sure you will soon see that you made a great purchase! It’s so handy! Please subscribe to my channel lots more to come.
great review
Thank you.
i have one and i love it.
Thank you!! I'm buying one this weekend to attack those annoying branches.
Way
to go Mike. You will love it!
Great review
Nice video. liked it. i got to cut lot of branches i am thinking to buy it.
Have one..ages ago..pink camo…
Nice review. Thank you!!
Thanks for this demo. Two "silly" questions if you don't mind -- about storage, as I do not plan to use very frequently (maybe even years between use). 1) how do you drain the oil out since I would not want it go go bad? 2) Related question: if I keep the oil in it, can I store the chainsaw completely upright -- or will it leak? Thanks so much!
You do not have to drain the oil. It is just to lubricate the chain and will not go bad and will not leak.
Great review thank you.
Can I hook it up to a solar panel ??
Did you connect an extension cord with another extension cord? Are you using a 12 gauge extension cord?
I used a 100' long 14 gauge extension cord with mine, and had plenty of power. If you step down to smaller 16 gauge, you might end up with enough of a voltage drop that it cuts much slower though.
ultimate zombie defence weapon
Can I use a regular plug-in? I don't have 220 out back.
Hi Vee great question! All you need is a regular outlet 110 which I’m sure you do have. Good luck and please subscribe more new from me videos to come. Thanks
@@poundridgepete Thanks & Big Thumbs up! 👍🏼 I just Subscribed. - I have an overgrown backyard, and someone gave me a $2,000 Estimate, & it's not *that* bad! This really helped me. 𝓥𝓮𝓮 𝓯𝓻𝓸𝓶 𝓥𝓲𝓻𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓲𝓪
Does the volume get better?
Thank you 😊 I was wondering can you put an 18 inch blade on there from the chainsaw to the pole saw ?
No its a very dumb Idea. The motor is only 8amp so they say and in reality it is lucky if its truly 4amps. The thrust angle of a conventional cutting chain is made for much higher rpm cutting.
I bought this on your review and love it ! what is the wood splitter you have ?
What type of oil the saw use
The Amazon link you posted is for a 8 inch saw, not the 10 inch one you are reviewing.
I have a pole chain saw like the one shown. It works fine except that leaks oil all the time and almost since I got it. Any recommendations. I got the extended warranty, but do not have the receipt.
Call sunjoe and explain. Maybe they will help you. Tell them you saw my CZcams backyard warrior! Look at the extended warranty maybe help you figure out where and when u bought it.
My instructions say to empty the oil chamber between uses. I’m about to use mine for the first time today.
Can i use this to cut horizontally since i don't have a regular chainsaw? Thanks
It looks like your saw is telescoping farther than ours of the same make and model. Is it hard to pull it out farther than a couple of feet?
Would this work good for trimming the straight shooters of an apple tree? Can it cut horizontally?
Hi Alex it can cut horizontally but not plants or hedges. Meant for branches.
@@poundridgepete thank you
How do you tighten the chain?
I make sure the little silvery stud is in the hole on the bar.
Van this Electric SunJoe be used to trim palm trees??????
Well sometimes you dond have a plug available and a manual pole saw can come in handy.
Yes Doug. If no access to electricity than manual is the way to go!
Where did you buy yours? I’m having a hard time finding your model. It’s either a convertible 2in1 that the head doesn’t adjust to different angles or the head adjusts to different angles but it’s not a convertible 2in1.
Bought mine on amazon. My model is one unit. You can not detach the chainsaw from the pole. I have a Stihl chainsaw model MS250 gas so I did not need that feature.
How would it do with palm fronds?
Sorry not sure because no palm fronds in my yard.
New subscriber here. Great demo and review. Question: How do you like the tool now that you've had it for a while?
I still like it don’t need to use it too often but I did use it last week and It came in very handy
@@poundridgepete thanks for letting me know. I’m getting one this weekend at Lowe’s. I was skeptical because it’s being marketed as part of the Martha Stewart garden tool collection! 🤣
@@HillCountryPrepper I’m sure you’ll like it it comes in at a good price and it should serve you well. Good luck with it and thanks for subscribing to my channel.
you should close the barn door before the cows jump out haha
What kind of oils did you pour in it?
It is bar & chain lubricating oil. Same as you use on all chain saws.
@@poundridgepete thank you!! ☺️
Bar and chain oil makes a great undercoating for a car or truck. Ever seen a car that leaks oil have a rusty frame ..?

LOL...I can't believe it stepped up onto his wall and started cutting. Seems a tad dangerous. And this guy is no spring chicken.

Great review, I suggest getting an external mic, hard to hear you
I heard him fine.
@@georgiabigfoot Me too!
No ear or eye protection, very amateurish. Also, trim branches at the tree trunk. Just saying.
Won't tying a knot cut the power off for electricity
No just a loose knot.
Lets see , he can't hardly be heard , his zipper is down, and he doesn't know how to use the cord securely in the handle ? !
