  • Mitch Gallagher explores the RME Babyface Pro audio interface with his iPad. An updated version of the acclaimed Babyface, the Babyface Pro reduces the need for bulky breakout cables. The sound quality is top-notch as you'd expect from RME, and the rugged aluminum design means it's ready for reliable portable use - it even comes with a hardshell case.

    So glad that I bought one of these today from you guys! Been wanting a better audio interface that is portable and useful for PC, Mac and ipads after issues with my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4.

    Great review Mitch, always enjoy the enthusiasm. This iOS portion is a shortcoming in my studio

    Mitch is so good talking about gear that the fluidity of him speaking prevents me from watching his vids at any rate higher than 1x (normal)...

    Just figured it out , babyface pro and iPad Pro no more need a external power adapter for babyface pro, just need a apple USB3 camera adapter and a apple charging power adapter .then one adapter can charging iPad Pro and supply usb power for babyface pro

    The cables I use now for my main monitors use a XLR connector to go into my Fast Track unit and balanced connectors to go into my monitors. I don't see where I connect my XLR connectors here? Would the Babyface Pro or the MOTU Track 16 be a better or easier unit to work with?

    Does anyone know if you can use an iPad as a controller and record simultaneously to another computer?

    nice review , however disappointed that it does not work with the dsp dynamic section in total mix for a pro product, a feel abit short changed by RME regarding that issue.

    Great review. Question I just bought the babyface pro fs and I was thinking about buying the Rme ADI-2 Fs AD/DA converter for mixing and mastering purposes if I buy it is the quality going to improve or it will be the same?

      In theory or practical...? ;-)
      I guess you won't hear the difference. Just try it in a blind test and you'll know.

    My RME BBF PRO jumped up in volume. Send it to Thomann to service. They send me another unit, a used one, much older one, judging from the serial number, but the same problem. Send it to Thomann (the seller) and they sent me a replacement much older (judging by the serial number) and a used one. Never happened with my old unit on same usb port.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Před 8 lety +5

      +Josh Valentine Genge You cannot bypass the mic preamps on the Babyface Pro, however there are two additional line inputs that will accept signal from external preamps, without passing through an internal preamp circuit. Thanks! Mitch

    My RME BBF PRO jumped up in volume. Send it to Thomann to service. They send me another unit, a used one, much older one, judging from the serial number, but the same problem. When i started to record hoping i will capture the issue, i recorded in stead how the play back volume is not linear up and down when you rotate the volume knob likewise up and down. I will send the video to the RME and Thomann. Never happened with my old unit on same usb port.
