I put 2 wisks in mine to open it when drying and soapy water, but even a teeny bit of bleach in water would probably be better. I like the freezer idea too. I wish it came with things to clean both though.
I always put it in the freezer after use. Been doing it for years with no damage to the reservoir. And it doesn't freeze the reservoir either. Comes right out ready for use..
@@flextefitness4954 So have you had any issues with having water in there when you freeze it? I can't fully dry my thermobak and wanna know if it'll damage it!
I rinse the bladder and tube with hydrogen peroxide and bottled water blend, then final rinse with bottled water kills any and all bacteria. Then leave filler cap off and let air dry over night.
I think it is a huge rip-off that they are not selling the dryers with the bladders. I have an antidote cleaning kit and got myself a new crux reservoir. Now I need to rebuy the entire cleaning kit just to get the dryer.
Wish I saw this when I bought mine years ago. Mine went bad like he said. Should I just toss it out? I used some cleaning tablets and dish soap right after. But if it’s at the point of no return, please let me know
Dude, the freezer thing is BRILLIANT! Question, I have an old thermobak, and it's not really possible to get it super dry. If I put it into the freezer with some water in it, would it damage anything?
water expands if you Freeze it... And i mean if you Put water in a Pipe thats welded into a Freeze that will Blow up due to the Pressure being to Create. so act accordingly
The interviewer was clearly was not paying attention. He said clean it every couple months. Not sure why she had to ask as how often should you clean it. He then mentions again once every few months. Also if you will be using sugary drinks then cleaning it after each use should be common sense. A lot of people lack common sense.
LOL. Someone else needs to listen more closely- 1) the sugary beverage info is right at the end of the interview. 2) HE offered the info that you DEEP clean every few months with bleach cut with water or cleaning tabs. 3) I was summing up at the very end, asking for clarification about how often you would want to clean it -not necessarily deep clean it and the answer -every FEW months was the same.
I have a bladder I haven't used in about 7 years, dry stored and it looks as if I cleaned it well at last use. What do you think? Honestly it smells like new inside - plasticy smell. I thought I'll use a vinegar solution to clean it and try it out again.
That's what I do. I wipe off the mouthpiece but never cleaned the inside. I freeze mine with water in it so the ice keep it colder longer. Never understood the drying thing if it's going straight to the freezer.
I was a dumb ass in the Army and i used simple green to clean my camelbak and i thought i cleaned it and got all the simple green out when it was dry but during PT the next day i regretted it deeply i felt like dog shit probably was poisoned. I'm fine now... i think.
As long as you don't see mold or haven't gotten sick, sure. But there is some very cool tec in the bladders and tubes these days. You might want to consider upgrading. :)
You can get it clean. I used just under boiling degree water and Dawn. Scrubbed thoroughly, shook, repeated, massaged (squeezed/pinched with fingers) the tube with the hot soapy water and ran the solution through tube several times. Then did same with bleach solution a couple times. The mold will die and break loose. Also have used a regular kitchen sink scrub brush to get down in bladder to help scrub.
Is there somewhere you can find just the replacement seals for the bladder seals? Can only find replacement bladders. Would rather just buy a $2 seal than a $30 bag when bag is fine.

Vinegar kills bacteria and is what is suggested for my CPAP. Unlike Chlorine which can be toxic in high amounts.

Same thing man. I add a little water so I have some ice in there when I add my water for the next ride.

Lemon is a great idea!! Thank you, sir!

£14 for that crappy piece of plastic
Doug Stanhope has a doppelganger
OMG! He is!! LOL

White vinegar diluted with water? Or just lemon juice straight? Any reply appreciated cheers from Australia 👍
Lol you guys should probably teach every military unit this because I never did that lol.
Never cleaned it once lmao
Thanx for the info
I love camelbag ❤
Yes
Bleach? There is no way I would use diluted bleach. I know Americans like their chlorinated chicken but I think that’s a step too far.
Just what do you think water treatment plants are using to purify your drinking water? It’s not soap.
Dawn soap works too
@@Col_FraggShhhhh. Most people skip chemistry.
This guy sounded a little drunk or something lol..
Thank you for the recommendations!

can you use distilled vinegar with water to clean your reservoir?

Yes.

How did the vinegar solution work out? I wanted to try it but I didn't know if it could damage it
Great information, I was just wondering, how long can I keep it in the freezer without damaging the reservoir?
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, it´s good to know as we´re taking a break. Much appreciated.
Save money on those cleaning tablets by using denture tablets instead. Same stuff.
Vedy nice!
cant i just stick it in the freezer and prevents mold/mildew not even fully drying it.

Why not vinegar?

Glad you only felt like crap for a day!
Ive got one I bought over 15 years ago, never cleaned it once. Still good?

So what do i do of i thought it was airing out & fairly clean but it has mold in bladder &tube
Throw it out! OR at least replace the tube. You don't want to mess with mold.

I bet if you call Camelbak CS- www.camelbak.com/en/gyb/select-product.aspx- they can help you track one down. If not, there's always eBay!
Can I put beer in this
Vodka's better.
You would make a fine politician, took almost 4 minutes to explain something that could have taken 60 seconds
I could explain this for almost 8 minutes to some folks and they still wouldn’t grasp it.
How about hydrogen peroxide?
QUESTION 💥💥💥💥💥It smells like plastic does it shed plastic
Yes. Older technologies used inferior plastic chemistry, it's time to upgrade!
Is dish soap not recommended?
I use dish soap after every use and air dry, I use tongs to keep it open.
Sometimes @Ski Play Live - things happen, ya now? Don't be so judgy!
But it's my jam ;) Gotta put peeps on the spot to make sure you answer the questions the judgy ones might have in their heads.
Hi, why do bladders get mold etc. but bottled water last for years?
Bottled water is sealed until is used.
There is bacteria and mould naturally floating in the air.
Air.

I have two Cambelbak bottles and they're shit.
I have 2 podium bottles but I like them, the mouth piece gives plenty of water but doesn't leak when open.
Bro i love you but ease up the booze ;)
Bleach it every god damn time
Bleach degrades plastic and rubber. It makes them brittle and prone to cracking over time.
My mom uses bleach for everything, also cusses unnessicarily too. Wonder if it's correlated?
You just earned a sub my nigus
Just say NO to bleach!!
It's definitely not simple.
