"I'm not an artist."
Vinny you literally make songs lmao
A lot of people don’t consider musicians, or writers (like myself) “artists.” I’ve found this out first hand a lot.
It’s odd, but a lot of people think if you don’t draw (or do something similar), you aren’t an artist.
I'm an artist.
A performance artist.
@@ThierryWilliamson even more the case with actors, you almost never hear people call an actor an artist despite it being part of the "arts".
@@ThierryWilliamson I get that, semantically we have 'musician' and 'writer' as objectively TYPES 😮of artists. But for drawing we don't. Its just 'artist'.
'Painter' kinda fills that linguistic niche, but thats specifically brush and paint, you wouldnt call Toriyama a painter I dont think?
Look, what I'm saying is you shouldnt let the lack of nouns for visual artists stop you from callinf yourself an artist. We've been calling musicians artists for ages.
When people say "artist" the first thing that comes to mind for most is visual art, drawing, painting, etc. So there tends to be a bit of mental separation between them and other artforms. He probably wasn't even thinking about it when he said that.
realizing when vinny says "20 years ago" and he was still an adult then is wild. i can't believe i'm watching this withering old man

Well it _was_ eighteen years ago.
You can be 30 or 60, if you don't learn some drawing fundamentals it will always look that way.

As an artist it’s heartwarming to see someone else have a passion for creative stuff like this. I’m pretty sure some artists from vinebooru were partially the reason I started making art myself
One of the first pieces of digital art I ever did was a sky themed Vineshroom that I uploaded to the booru, and seeing Vinny and chat appreciate on stream it really motivated me to keep drawing!
I literally got into digital art because of the vinebooru. I was in high school at the time and I always scribbled like this on my assignments but that was the first time I actually took it seriously

Seeing this brings me so much joy. It doesn't matter that his stuff is "bad". A lot of it looks really cool and has great expressions or unique little gremlin characteristics. I love that sort of stuff, and knowing others doodled the same way I did gives me the confidence to keep pushing forward learning art even more.
The reveal of that final drawing was actually wild, turns out Vin's timing and prediction abilities are from birth.
He has seen as I have, the timelines that came before and will come again.
watching this just makes me think : it's amazing how people with talent always think they don't have talent, meanwhile people with complete lack of creativity insist they are the coolest people to ever exist and can do no wrong.

Drawing in school in a notebook was probably one of the best places to draw! I remember drawing on my assigements so much. One time in 8th Grade we had a writting paper to do in Science. I drew a faint picture of space with earth in the corner on the whole sheet of paper. Since it was faint, I could wrote my sentences on the blue lines of the notebook while still being able to see them!
I got an A+ on it but also the teacher gave me a note on the side that said "impressive drawing". I never stopped drawing since. If I had to describe the feeling, tranquility would be it!
Awww that's so wholesome! 💜
I hate myself for losing all of my highschool and middle school drawings, because not only is that such a magical moment when it came to drawing, but I would have loved to keep track of my progress by comparing my old art with my new art.
@Sporkyyyy Hey, I remember seeing you on one of my last comments. lol

My sense of humor needs an autopsy
37:29 It’s entirely possible the rather ominous drawing was just a case of your younger self, who as you mentioned earlier, loving to draw tanks and buildings. Drawing them blowing up because landmarks getting destroyed is a staple of big blockbusters like in Independence Day and Godzilla which maybe came out at around the same time as that drawing was likely made, then again I don’t know what you thought of those movies. You wouldn’t have enough fingers to count the number of times the Empire State Building or Golden Gate Bridge have been destroyed in movies. It was all just seen as fun.
Of course now it just has the unfortunate effect of aging extremely badly with the foresight of what we now know what happened to them.
Of course that’s just my theory
I agree, it scared me alot, I've always been nervous about conspiracy theories, and whether or not they are real, maybe I'm having a massive cope moment right, now but human brains are basically machines designed to pattern seek, and I guess if someone draws two rectangles next to each other with and explosion, especially if they were a young kid, people are gonna instinctively pattern match it to something, in this case 911.
Yeah and its very easy to come up with 2 buildings next to each other too.
Flip to the second page it just says "The second Plane hits the tower"

This unironically warms my heart lmao
2:17 That is the most 2000’s faux anime cloud strife drawing I’ve ever seen.
I love how vinny mentioned he doesn't get the birds in the 'He is trying to fly" picture but I'm pretty sure I made almost the exact same drawing in school. It's a little magnifying glass that shows the 2 dots on the shoulders are in fact, tiny birds (that are not as effective as a jetpack i guess)
Now I want to see some mass comparison of notebook doodles to see how many of us go through the same ideas as kids haha
Vinesauce Art Corner # 1573
In high school, I had a science class where every day a friend would "steal" my notebook and doodle in it. I don't have many regrets, but throwing that away is just about top of the list.

3:25 Jerma foreshadowing
Why do all 4 of them look like Jerma
Im 24 years old and i still draw like i used to back in high scool classes its therapeutical really sometimes i do it while listening to music or a random video. In a age where people use their art skills for monetary or fame straining themselves physically and mentally in search of perfection it feels great not worrying about such things like that and just drawing simple things just because it makes you feel good.
I think thats fair not everyone who plays basketball with friends wants to be on the NBA
This is such a based opinion. I once considered never drawing again because I was fed up with drawing fanart for an algorithm until I realized that I could just draw for fun and deleted my old art accounts, fanbase, and stopped caring about numbers or an audience. It's healthier, I think.
Artsauce
I’m watching this while in college animating a vomit fountain.
Even before I saw these, turns out Vinny’s always had an influence on my art.
Genuinely though, as a drawing artist myself, i think Vinny would've been absolutely great in abstract art. Like sure he never had proportions quite right, but his penmanship whenever he drew objects and abstract creatures, his art genuinely shined. He's just better at drawing objects more than people. I'm the opposite, I'm really bad at drawing animals and not super great at drawing objects, but i like drawing people a lot. That's my strength! Legit, if he got into abstract art in sure he would be great!
It's really cool that Vin's parents saved all this and he was able to go through it on stream. My parents also saved a lot of this stuff, but between their attic and my storage unit at my condo, it's all rotted with mold and had to be thrown out. Was actually traumatizing throwing all that out as someone who's cripplingly sentimental.

This is awesome to see. I still have notebooks from when I was in elementary here in mexico. I would use graph paper to draw rpg maps and have my friends walk through them and whenever they open a cheat I decided if they get an item or an enemy encounter so we would move to a different sheet and just role play a battle akin to those in monster hunter and Earthbound (btw at that time I had bo idea those 2 games existed) and it was all kinda just a tiny version of a DnD session. Did some for starwars themed stuff and zelda too. Probably still have em around. My sister then grabbed the notebook and began doing dragon doodles. All in all these got me interested in game design so I made rpg maker games but quickly gave up and instead started learning how to draw digitally and do character design which I have profited from but I've barely exploited. I enjoy art and having started with shitty graph paper doodles and drawing in class during english lessons here in mexico was peak.
So nostalgic.

I still regret throwing out all my old drawings from when I was in elementary school. I just wish I could regain those memories of a time when I had a huge sense of wonder and a passion for creativity.
I will always, ALWAYS regret leaving all of my drawings from 2012-early 2013 on the kitchen counter to have been eventually thrown away. If I just brought them upstairs like I was supposed maybe I would still have them...But there gone forever, never to seen again..... :'( I would give almost anything to have them back. 2012 was such a huge year in my life, but now with everything I made from that year gone....I don't think I can continue....I don't think I can.....

So nice for vinny to tell us the name of the release day of his DANTE playthrough, i can prepare for wednesday now
I love Joels Mario Paint series and just about every time his drawn anything. Him and Vinny should have an art stream one of these days.
As a guy who doodled and gamed and was inspired by games and anime, this feels like Vinny ripped stuff out my stuff outta my notebook. And as a person who went to art college, I really want to see a selection of Vinny's college stuff.
this stream brought me so much unbridled pure joy i love art & people creating && getting a glimpse into the minds of humans we r all so cute
i was a tiny boy when you drew these. mad
i used to doodle toads (of the mario variety) and animal crossing villagers in my notebooks back in middle school
I really enjoyed seeing Vinny’s Half-Life and other game level design sketches.
When I was in middle and high school I would draw hundreds and hundreds of video game level ideas, of anything and everything from Zelda dungeons to Mario Party boards.
39:00 EVERY kid did this, just draw all sorts of excessive surreal violence
I can relate about feeling bad about using your Metroid Prime sticker on a notebook.... When I was a bab, I got a huge sticker of Majora's Mask (my mom worked at Nintendo - really!) which I thoughtlessly pasted on... the inside of a side table I kept my games in. To my credit I did ask mom which was the right way up! But I wasn't interested in Zelda at that point so in hindsight I feel kind of bad about it.
Always love seeing old art! It's such a time capsule, and a reflection of who you are as a person. This is no exception! I definitely would love to see more and wish more people did this.

Some of these actually are pretty decent for notebook doodles, they remind me of punk band album art in a way
