How to Farm Frostweave Cloth - 1,250 Frostweave Per Hour in WoW

- In this guide we show you how to farm frostweave in World of Warcraft. These five are the best spots for farming frostweave and as you can tell, almost all of them are in Icecrown, so get used to the cold!

Frostweave Bags- 12 Infinite Dust+30 Cloth- Avg about 110g
Frostsavage Transmog set - 200g-800g
Workmans Shirts: 40g-300g
Lumberjack Shirts: 50g-350g
Frostweave Set: 200g - 400g
Black Duskweave Set: 220-500g
Glacial Robe: 450g-2500g
Spellweave Robe: 500g-5000g
The Routes
1. Converted Heroes-Icecrown Glacier 0:19
As you can tell, I actually don't like this spot for frostweave. farming. It's clunky, overfarmed, and the mobs even have a debuff on them that slows you down when you kill them. If you notice, most guides that recommend it for being the best spot in game, only test the area for 5 to 15 minutes, which means they don't have an opportunity to get competition (not suggesting they did this on purpose, just pointing out flaws in short tests for guides). Still, it's overfarmed because it's a good, eaily accessible spot with a ton of mobs.
Results: 472 Frostweave cloth per hour (max of 750 potential)
2. Chosen Zealot-Cathedral of Darkness 2:26
This was an old powerlevel spot at the start of lich king. While the respawn rate on these guys has been nerfed, (notice they don't insta spawn like most quest mobs) the good news is that these guys don't take the full five minutes that most mobs take and one pull drops 40 cloth. In short, this room yields 800 cloth per hour and you can watch a movie, youtube videos, or play hearthstone.
Results: 811 Frostweave cloth per hour
3. Cult Alchemists- Aldu'thar 3:49
This is part of the Taking Battle to the Enemy! quest of the Argent Tournament, and will yield you a whopping 1 champion seal. But because the quest requires 15 kills, a lot of these mobs need to be up at any given time. This is great for farmers, as killing off all of these alchemists insta spawns them. It is ideal for ranged classes that can instant cast from a distance.
Results: 846 Frostweave cloth per hour
4: Pit of Saron 5:09 ZOMG INTERLOPERS!
Unlike most guides which recommend clearing the entire instance to get the highest chance at the Battered Hilt, we're just going to kill the first pack, to get the highest efficiency possible. It's also common to get evade glitches and this method avoids that. See the video for a pull explanation.

5. Mjordin Combatants - Savage Lodge 7:20
Part of the ridiculously named "Crush Dem Vrykuls!" these quest mobs respawn instantly and die easily. They drop a ton of Frostweave and are a lot easier for melee classes to deal with than some of the other spots. Although feel free to farm here as a ranged.

Blizzard way back in BC put an instance limit on accounts, so you can only enter a max of 5 instances per hour. This was mostly to prevent rogues from stealth chest farming instances, but it also prevents mass cloth farming. This limit still exists and still has a max of 5 per hour.
Joe Parker 10 Per Hour patxh 5.4.7 made it 10 per hour. Blizz don't give a fuck about Gold Farmers in WoD
Pit of Saron got nerfed. I got a total of 3 Frostweave Cloth using that on 1 pull/run, I cleaned out the entire area.

Glad it helped! Cathedral of the darkness' spawn rate got nerfed on live. Found a really good place in SW Grizzly hills, in the logging camp PVP area. Should do a vid on that.

You didnt mention that you are a tailor i this video. Tailors get 50% more cloth drops from cloth scavenger.
Chazz vc Good point. A huge majority of the people searching for frostweave routes are tailors so this isn't a huge concern and it's mostly common knowledge, so I left it out of the video so as not to more the 90% of people watching, but a lot of newer player might not know, so thanks for sharing with everyone!
People are leveling alts like *crazy* for Warlords of Draenor! Sell them Frostweave Bags! Oh, and 1250 cloth per hour isn't too shabby either. ;P #WorldofWarcraft
I love this last place it takes me 2 minutes per run and i get so much cloth per run!
Tried doing pit. pulled like half the dungeon twoce and got like 10 cloth each time.

so for the naxx one i run the 2man one a few time before says I cnt, then I run the 10 man forever like a unlimited amount of times so many time I filled my 4 30slot bags full wit just frostweave cnt pick up greens so many frostweave @.@
#4.. you have to complete the quest given by her hotness, Lady Jaina, inside forge of souls to the left.. not just the dungeon, to gain access to pit of sauron..
10 runs at #4 on heroic.. 84 cloth :(.. i think its been nerfed.. I did score a battered hilt however

One other spot not mentioned, drops frostweave and lots of greens, Lev 100 hunter, easy. Goto the pirate ship with the elite for the quest line for the epic fishing pole, stand one spot and one shot the elite, he respawns in like a sec, after 4 or 5 kills loot.

Have you tried farming the trash leading up to Marrowgar in ICC? I get tons of cloth in maybe 3 minutes of time. Reset and repeat. Maybe between 60-70 every 3 minutes.
Mike S Last I tested there it was still a little tough for some classes to solo, so I didn't include it. But it's probably a breeze at this point with most characters being in some level for SoO gear. Good call.
actual amount of frostweave from naxx is not what you estimate... in an hour I get 400... and the amount steadily decreases over time.
Blizz nerfed NAXARAMAS as of a couple days ago. Raid is on cooldown now
A buddy of mine did this and got 4 battered hilts in an hour so yeah it's a good spot.

I am wondering what your opinion is on the best farming class for WoD? I am leaning towards a destro lock, but I can't decide. By farming, I mean a class that has some form of self-healing that can aoe a bunch of mobs down in older content to gather cloth and transmog stuff. That's why I thought of the destro lock, but I'd love to hear the opinion of someone who does this stuff all the time. Thanks!
As a blood DK I can vouch for good AoE damage, you'll also never die.
I should have mentioned, but I cannot stand the DK play style. I also would like mobility, as well. Which, I don't think DKs have a sprint or anything like that, do they? I do appreciate your answer, however, thank you.
Rajazen Personally I love playing blood dk, never tried the other specs. Anyway, they have prntscr.com/52nxft , nothing much else I suppose.
Seren1ty Both DKs and Locks are actually at the top of my list for mining and herbalism toons because they can walk on water and DKs have the 20% mount speed increase. For just constant aoe, in old content, its hard to beat lo beat locks but really at level 100 we'll over gear things so much it won't matter.

did pit of saron today they nerfed it good 15 cloth per run now if ur lucky even with scavenging
The Pit has been nerfed bad 2 run 36 cloth but did get a battered hilt.
Shofizzle d Does that character have tailoring? Cloth drop rates are about 1/2 if you don't have Northrend Cloth Scavengenging, the cloth drop buff.
WTBGold I have tailoring maxed and got very little. I ran heroic and got even less and no hilts.
There's a citadel on the far left of ICC i always loved farming cloth at.

cheeky bugger..lol seriously. They hate people farming too easy and videos make it easy for them to nerf stuff. Drives me nuts. All my best farming places are all gone.
bloodandcarnage lol, yah. Well, yes and no. As a developer, you'd want people to be able to grind materials, but you don't want any spot to be overwhelmingly better. Everything here was about the same except for the dungeon grind and the raid exploit, so while I was expecting those to be adjusted, it surprised me they nerfed things like the cathedral.
I'd love to hear their reasoning.
i'd like to hear it too. many of my fav spots are dead for everything cloth or "mote" related. There used to be an amazing frostweave place in sholazar basin. you never had to move. Mobs ran right at ya and spawned faster than your cooldowns could handle. And then of course... a video came out and WHAMO! nuh moe! But I have other stuff I have resorted to farming. Gold is slower but I am getting there! Got hacked a while back when I quit playing and came back to naked toons.
It's not so much the videos...ok yes the videos tell people where to go to farm and attracts more attention, but it's not like Blizzard is having devs check youtube all the time to nerf areas people say are good farming spots. It's down to the greedy people who farm the living shit out of the farming spots. When this is being done over and over and multiple people are doing it it triggers alarms that certain mobs are being killed at an excessively high rate. Blizzard checks it out and then tones down the drop rates it to prevent overfarming so that it gives a chance for people questing there to kill quest mobs instead of them being monopolized by gold farmers. The same is applied to lower level dungeons and raids to reduce excessive farming.
i think the naxxramas one is nerfed so that everyone knows, went to it today WITH cloth scavenging, and only got 35-40 per run
Emil Högstedt ok, good. So it's still decent, if you're running the raid, but it's not absurd. Ok.
WTBGold That's actually a really low estimation. I ran it 4 times taking maybe 15 minutes without movement boosts (expect blink) WITH the cloth scavenging and the highest drop i got was 95! with a average of 60-80! But it was only 4 runs so its not a very accurate estimation but, this place is definitely the best place to farm.

Farming cloth for my Priest atm and all of those places are absolute trash now...dungeon i got like 3 frost weave in 3 runs so thats a bus, (Didnt get a hilt either QQ ). only place i find worth it is... im not saying nothing....ITS MINE ALL MINE
With Northern Cloth Savenging its goes alot better! ;)
Jade Ovior♡ Oh yep yep. I didn't include that in the video because I think it's automatically learned with Warlords tailoring now, but definitely a must. All the numbers in this video are using that, but results can vary by class.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me. I have a 100 hunter but I feel it's not doing what I want it to do. I made the mistake of starting it at lvl 90 with an upgrade. I'll check out the priest & see how I go. Any tips as to which spec is best?
lol, never ask a priest what the best spec is. It's always their spec and everyone else is crap. Priest players are pretentious.

Peter Zimic Do the full 10 runs. Cloth drops are pretty variable. Also. Are you a tailor? Northrend cloth scavaging gives you 2x-3x the cloth drops and is what the numbers are based on in this video. Most people who farm cloth do it on tailors so I left that out of the guide.
WTBGold I just did the pit as a tailor with the guide, and got 7 cloth first time and 10 cloth the second. NERFED!!!
Other places are over farmed. This video is now out of date.
Greg Ouellette before you go all crazy throwing out the n word, run it a few more times. It has a pretty big range where 1 run can drop either 4 cloth or 60. Let me know what you get after your 15 minutes in there. :) If you keep getting low drops, I'll retest everything.

you're limited to 5 dungeons per hour so it won't be 1200 cloth/h
StudentOfTheHeart They changed it halfway through 5.4 to 10 dungeons per hour. :) It's been a while since I made the video but it's either based off the one dungeon or 10 runs for 30ish minutes + farming open world for the rest of the hour.

DarkParagon A lot of the embersilk spots like the troggs in Deepholm, the quest mobs in twilight highlands, and the Cata PVP island in the ghost area got nerfed, so dungeons with the potion of treasure finding are generally your best bet now. They nerfed all of them. And one that isn't on here. Most of them don't even drop single cloth and 2 drop nearly nothing at all. Blizz is seriously speaking when they say you have to GRIND for it as in GRIND yer teeth because you have to clear the entire map of northrend to get 4 frostweave.
