With Stage 5 youâre going to be dealing with a lot of memorization. Similar to what you dealt with in the last stage enemies come at you in distinct squads in all cases with no overlap forcing you to have to know whatâs coming ahead of time throughout the whole stage. There may not be a mid-boss but the gauntlet of fairies in the second half of the stage makes up for it.
The best advice I can give you for dealing with Clownpiece is to just accept youâre going to die going inâŠ
Iâm not even joking. With the nature of her hard and fast attacks, extreme precision, and spells that require you to be in just the right place at the right time your best bet is to always be expecting anything she throws at you to kill you dead. Prepare your bombs, but donât expect to rely on them (she packs two time out spells for just such an occasion), rather know that youâll probably need to use them to get out of numerous tight spots.

Lunarians are not the only ones you've caused trauma too XD
"The hell? A competent fairy? What madness is this?"
PURE MADNESS
Itâs Morbinâ time
imagine raiding area 51 and finding this:
"Welcome to madness world"
A pleasant surprise
I actually came from space as a hero to the galaxy, and I know if clownpiece is a secondary form of extraterrestrial life. She is real but in a parallel universe to ours.
I would just yell THATS IT BOIS PERSCISION MODE
Friend: Do you think hell exists?
Me: Her name is Clownpiece.
E X A T L Y
True bcuz clownpiece lives in hell
Indeed, a clown piece of shit.
-clownpiece my fav-
And that how i got PTSD
Even if itâs a literal hell stage, the stage music is, in my opinion, the best stage 5 music ever.
It really sounds youâre soaring across the surface of the moon, avoiding all the danmaku, like a big grand adventure, I love it so much.
Highly recommend listening to this while driving on an empty road at sunset, itâs amazing.
H3its just don't do that when you're driving with family and/or friends.
Or not, I'm not your dad.
Laura Santana one word:
Lasers.
For me it's just middle tier. Or at least it's not as memorable as stage 5 from MoF or SA.
*After a long stage mid-boss appears*
Clownpiece "Oh somethings going on here! Lets crank up the speed as I just prepare to ruin everyone's day :D"

Ah, Clownpiece.
The character I spent so long on I've developed Stockholm Symdrome towards her.
May you forever be the madness that haunts our nightmares
MegamanOmega's expert tip for beating Clownpiece:
"Just come in with all of the lives."
Say hi to the Pierrot of 99+ Tries!
Touhou players seeing jevil:
Oh i remember this one is a classic
Deltarune players: What do you mean
It's brand new
Honestly , itâs better they donât know.
i think my PTSD returns
Clownpiece: **appears**
Me: *[The sound of crashing and death]*
I downloaded this game thinking "This looks like a fun intro to Touhou games!" Now I'm stuck at Clownpiece realizing this game was made for sadistic mental torment and a test of the human spirit...fuuuuuck... I'll get her one day...
Out of every touhou games
You chose the hardest
Nice job, I believe that at the Time 18 wasn't out yet
So thats a 1/12 (not including PC-98 or spin-offs)
@@olixx1213 to be fair SA is definitely harder if youâre playing as Reisen
@@marcar9marcar972 u can't play reisen in SA .... , You mean LoLK?
@@marcar9marcar972 Eh, most of SA is manageable. You can safe-spot half of the s5 boss's spells, and s6 is nice and short. A bit hard, but doable. If you're looking at the difficulty of spellcards alone, this game is so far ahead of every other game in the series that it's not even funny.
@@marcar9marcar972 SA is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier than LoLK...even as MarisaA where you barely do damage when focused
Ahhhhh finally there she is my beloved Clownpiece. The character , I love , she is adorable, has a great theme (and stage theme) and a great addition to the fairy manga. The boss fight..... it represents what I don't like about this game's patterns (majority of them anyway) in that a lot of the patterns in this game are either too pixel perfect OR "gotcha" by that I mean if its your first run you will probably die. This starts with Doremy technically but Clownpiece is where the "gotcha" part is at its worst.
Obviously knowing something beforehand always helps but in general most Touhou patterns can be handled if your reflexes are good enough or hell most of the time they just built up and then go after you.
Also it shows this game didn't really had a lot of play testing done since well the lunatic mode of the first timeout is actually easier then the normal mode one.
AHAHAHA STAGE FIVE
literally the stage that nearly made me lose my mind. I entered without many bombs and used a few to escape some bad situations during the latter half of the stage.
You know your advice to carry bombs? Guess who ran out of bombs for the first timeout spell IN POINTDEVICE MODE
That 1/51 record will forever haunt me now.
Cosplaybuddygiraffes did you finish that run? I dont think anyone can beat junko's last spellcard without dying 100 times x)
I ran out in the second.
Still haven't beat lolk.
I actually don't find the timeout that bad. You basically just need to memorize a route within the red bullets, and dodge some falling stars.
The spell right after it, on the other hand... oh boy.
1/51? Pathetic 1/99 all the way
PointDevice is cowardly

"If I Am The President,America Must Be Great Again!"
Clownpiece: Kayahahahaha! Something real interesting is going on~! Hey, fairies! Letâs crank up the speed! Itâs lunatic tiiiime! Welcome to a world of madness.
Marisa: âLetâs review what we have so far. The Lunar Capitalâs been put in stasis.Either the lady from before or someone else did that for defense purpose...Also she said that thereâs someone else invading the Lunar Capital too. Anâ theyâre usinâ * a method that prevents the moon people from acting. So theyâre using me to save the Lunar Capital, I guess? In summary, it looks like Eirinâs (she) been takinâ me for a ride since the start...â
Clownpiece: âYou got past all the fairies bathed in my torchlight. You must really be something!
Marisa: âwhoâre you?â
Clownpiece: Iâm a fairy from hell, Clownpiece! Youâre the first visitor weâve had since masterâs friend gave us this land!
Marisa: A fairy...? Hah, canât believe those moon people would have their hands full with these guys.
Clownpiece: Hm, youâre not afraid of me? Oh, right. Masterâs friend told me something. âIf anyone comes from Lunar Capital, do anything you want to them!â
Marisa: Well, I get that youâre the â enemy â the moon people were talkinâ about. Better beat you quickly and report this, huh? Saving the Lunar Capital oughta save Gensokyo too, after all.
Clownpiece: Hmmm~. Am I really not that scary? Nah, no way. The Lunarians should all be scared of my presence. Well, itâs fine by me either way. Be stilled with impurity and fall to hell!
Clownpiece: Hah, hah, hah...Wh, why...? But I heard that as long as we fairies, symboled of life, controlled this place,....the Lunarians canât do anything, right? Thatâs what I heard.
Marisa: Well yâsee. Thatâs probably because Iâm not a moon person.
Clownpiece: Hey, you.... uh, madam... could you be an earthling?!
Marisa: Yup, Been squatting on the earth as long as I lived.
Clownpiece: Whatâs an earthling doing here...? Nobody told me this would happen.
Marisa: By the way, I donât get why the moon people canât do anythinâ against you fairies.
Clownpiece: Thatâs because the Lunarians reject life and death. Being born and dying both mean becoming impure. As lumps of life energy, the Lunarians wouldnât even think of touching us.
Marisa: But donât all humans die?
Clownpiece: Of course, they usually donât reject it completely. but now our life energy has been refined thanks to the power of our Masterâs friend. Wouldnât it be awful to get totally immure just by touching us? For the Lunarians, I mean.
Marisa: ...I still donât totally get it, but you at least donât seem like the true culprit behind the Lunar Capital Invasion. Itâs clear that someoneâs using you behind the scenes. ....much like mâself, really.
Good comment with 0 likes gonna ruin it into 1 like
(Clownpieceâs theme starts to play)
Me: WELCOME TO DEATH!
1. Mess with Clownpiece and you'll be seeing stars.
2. 11:55 - Moon Logic at its finest
3. Puns aside, is that really the only reason they aren't doing anything? Because they don't want to get "dirty?"
Technically speaking the amount of impurity these fairies were giving off thanks to Junko's refinement was strong enough that the Lunarian's couldn't even look outside the capital, so there's that going for them at least.
However, why they didn't send the moonbunnies to take care of it, or why they didn't dump Chang'e in Junko's lap, or why little miss OP Yorihime didn't just summon some crazy "anti-Clownpiece" god or something, etc, etc is beyond me.
Though Reisen's win quote against Miko in AoCF I think sums it up,
About Lady Sagume...
She is an influential politician in the Lunar Capital.
Reticent but bold, and also...
She can be a bit scatterbrained.
@@MegamanOmega184
Probably because they also have the most overpowered character in the entire series against them.
Personally, I feel like Junko isnât actually aware that Changâe drank the hourai elixir, or at least she doesnât fully understand how it works. Her entire plan is centered around trying to kill her, after all, and I donât get the impression that itâs a Kaguya-Mokou sort of thing... Changâe is pretty much kept away from everyone and everything, so itâs certainly plausible.
As for the other two? Moon bunnies are stronger than fairies, but purified fairies is another matter, and in sending them over to fight theyâd be letting the whole lunar society that something is going on. And Yorihime... probably just straight-up wouldnât wanna deal with all that, because again, purified fairies are gross and oh god ew ew keep it away from me.
"Hm, you're not afraid of me?"
*No, everyone is.*
Now that was interesting to watch. It also surprised me a lot that you consider Junko as not as big of a roadblock as Clownpiece. Clownpiece is absurd, yes, but Junko is just cruel at times. But I'm sure we'll hear your thoughts on that next week.
Junko's bad at at a couple times, but Clownpiece is consistently bad if not worse throughout the entire fight. Couple that with the fact that Junko doesn't pull any cheap stunts like Clownpiece's two "inta-gib" spells... Junko's no pushover, but if you have the skills to beat Clownpiece you've more than got the skills to beat Junko
Interesting to see how opinions differ. Clownpiece totally has Lunatic-level patterns in this game (I'd argue that some of her patterns on Lunatic are easier), but Junko requires high-level precision that Clownpiece doesn't necessarily need. But maybe I've just been looking at Lunatic Junko more than Normal Junko, because I forget quite how dense her patterns are on the difficulty you're playing.
excited for your 15.5!
Rin: "I cause gamer rage with my zombies."
Clownpiece: "Hold my stars and stripes."
mano, te amo, me has ayudado mucho con tus sexoriales, sigue asĂ.
Oh this is going to be greeeeaaat...
Well this made me feel a little better about going nuts trying to do bombless pointdevice at midnight.
I did discover that Flag and Stripe can be timed out by switching between left and right each wave; if you're in the right spot, you can duck under the bottom of the aimed star shots and reach the same height on the other side without ever having to go THROUGH, but you can't really rack up damage on her that way.
"Im fairy from hell"
Yeah sounds about right
Haven't watched the video, but am already looking forward to Clownpiece :D
so how was it?
@@kitzen1795 assuming he died
Holy hell, even though I've never played a danmaku game in my entire life, I was considering playing this one in the other mode you're not showcasing since it seemed a lot more forgiving, but after seeing what Clownpiece is capable of... I think I'll stick to the RPG/Platformer fangames for now haha
LoLK & forgiving are oxymorons asdfghj
If you want to try it Iâd recommend 8. A lot easier
"but munch on doughtnuts or something"
jellyfish doughtnuts? XD
8:09 I donât think ZUN even changed this one for Violet Detector
I made a mistake picking lolk as my first Touhou game ever
About last Spell Card. The fire that moon creates are amied at you. Well, they still spread, but they are aimed at you. You know what I mean, right.
I like how clownpiece in normal is harder than Remilia in Lunatic ._.
Even though Iâve only beat stage 5 once and it was on easy, it honestly made Touhou 15 my favorite in the series
How all items are collected without touching them?
You mean like when they all came up to me at around 0:20? That's the "Point of Collection". It varies from game to game what it takes to activate it (early games you had to be at max power, later onwards it was just always active). But if you go up to a certain horizontal point on the screen all items'll come towards you and be worth the max amount.
i literally canât get past the bit at 1:55
They didnt get hit once in this run
Then she showed up and almost kills them
It's kinda sad but true that the best advice I can give for Clownpice is "Just walk up to her with 8 lives. You've got this"
Sad part is, I didn't even expect to win this run... since I only had 6 lives here, and I _had_ walked up to her with 8 lives and still lost...
Nevermind tried it for myself in practice stage. Lost all my lives
*Clownpiece ga taosenai*
Clownpiece is far beyond Air Man tier. The only robot master with difficulty compareable to hers would be Quick Man.
Why the last spell ? She has 3 stars at the begining so she sould have 4 spells not 5 ?
I don't get it I notice it while I played and thought I misscount, but it's also here.
9:31 should have been the end.
See that little blue bar at the top of the life bar circle? That bar means that there's another "section" of the lifebar that starts after it. In this case, the section that comes after the blue bar is just extremely short so you can't really see it. This means that Clownpiece has a really tiny amount of health left for her final spell, which is fine since it's a survival card anyway
this first two attacked messed me up hard, that this entire fight was done at 2 power, which makes the whole thing even harder due to doing far less damage
Clownpiece: appears
Everyone: SCREAMING NOISES
That is entirely too many bullets.
hey man do you know where i can find the english patch for touhou 15?
You'll wanna download thcrap
www.thpatch.net/wiki/Touhou_Patch_Center:Download
Nowadays it's actually the program used for patching all Touhou games
Question, where do you get your touhou games? Is it through steam? Or somewhere like moriya shrine?
I used to through the Moriya Shrine (and that's still the easiest place to get the older games that aren't available for purchase). But for the newer ones I would start buying them on Steam
How was Clownpiece?
"I love you to the moon and back"
9:34
I am wondering , everytime you play the games abd record you 1cc , right? So has Clownpiece ruin recording before?
Too. Many. Times.
No lie, one run I actually walked into the Clownpiece fight with _MAX LIVES_ and still managed to lose them _ALL_ to her
MegamanOmega | Sounds like Clownpiece alright.
The first part just outright destroys you but the next parts aren't too bad
Nevermind, you need skills and strategy for the entire stage
I wish that Demetori's cover would play during the fight instead
I love your theory that clownpiece wears stars and stripes just to piss off the lunarians, lol
Actually itâs cannon
Could this item that removes impurities be the fan that Toyohime has? If so, I was also wondering why the Lunarians didn't just used it to wipe Clownpiece and the rest of the fairies from the moon.
Those items probably remove traces of impurity, and are probably too weak against Clownpiece, who was basically pure lifeforce.
The very reason you donât let ZUN play rage games
5:43 I see you moving to the song beat
this game on normal is harder than anything i've played. my head hurts
Koishi vs Clownpiece
Who will win?
Legacy Of American Kingdom
LoAK
clownpiece is the most broken boss of any game you can't change my mind
lunatic mode clownpiece seems easier than normal clownpiece holy fuck
Did he mov in beat during dialogue
Maybe Marisa is smartarse but the this player who can't even dodge first stage is giving you advice on how to play :D
Well, there is Easy Mode. Just don't play as Reisen if you don't want rabbits laugh at you.
"Sigh"
Not gonna lie she is insanely difficult
But I just figured out how to do her attacks properly and she becomes simple
Iâd say easier. Even after figuring out here attacks execution isnât the easiest
5:56
bring on the freedom
Just watched the vid, but I know that Clownpiece is just... No.
I mean, I haven't been able to beat the game BECAUSE she just locks me into reset, over and over...
Edit: Also, is it me, or Legacy has slightly less bullets than Pointdevice? I've been noticing that for a while now...
The best tip for any 1cc is to amass lives on the first stages and just bomb spam her toughest attacks. Feels pretty cheap, though.
Use Reisen. She's freaking OP in pointdevice.
Pointdevice lasts longer on each spell I think? Because in Legacy they end so fast, which is kinda unbalanced in Pointdevice mode.
Hawelo92 I'm in Pointdevice XD. I'm aware of that, trust me
Nguyen Quang
Easy modo
Reisen pointdevice
Dies 100 times to Clownpiece's second spell
This is where the challenge aspect of the game just stops being fun and I quit. It's a shame I probably would have loved the Junko fight, but if I'm not having fun with a challenge why bother?
Yo me paso esto en lunatic, con los ojos cerrados y sin manos đŒđŒ
Funny.. 3/5. one nonspell from the original format of final bosses.
What exactly makes Clownpiece absolute hell?
The bullet density and the percision required
@@inabaraisin4314 yeah, I manage to finally play the game (I didn't have a laptop or pc) and Clownpiece was a nightmare (but I am a masochist so I found her fun) Normal has an inconsistent chance for me to die in ALL of her attacks and for Lunatic? Forget about it
Good, now do it with Marisa.
*wait*
11:54 It's moments like these that make me question the continuity as far as Silent Sinner in Blue is concerned.
This game seems to lean more towards the idea that SSiB never happened than the idea that it did happen. Marisa acting like it's the first time she's even been to the Moon being one example of that. Sagume not recognizing Reimu at all when she probably would've at least heard of her is yet another.
Credit where it's due, Reisen did comment in 15.5 that Sagume's a bit of an airhead.
But she did recognize Reimu, in fact the whole plot of this game was Sagume _expecting_ Reimu, since the whole "Gensokyo Invasion" was just a ruse and the actual goal was to get Reimu & friends to come up to the moon and take care of Junko.
Similarly, it's less Marisa hasn't been to the moon, rather it's that of all the places she did go in SSiB, they were not the area's featured in this game.
@@MegamanOmega184 Actually, from reading the script on Touhou Wiki, only Ringo seems to recognize Reimu at all. Sagume's dialogue with Reimu isn't much different from what she says to Marisa. And she seems to have no idea who either of them is.
Not to mention that the whole thing makes me question if a certain pair of sisters even *EXIST* in the games.
After all, one of them has a pair of fans that could wipe out at least three quarters of the invading fairies.
The only thing that could even trouble them would be to have Hecatia bring all three of her bodies to fight time.
All in all, I think ZUN simply *CAN'T* write the Lunar Capital with consistence.
Next Moon based game and I bet Reimu will act as if she never summoned a God before and Marisa will state that she only met three moon rabbits in her entire life. While Patchouli will ask "what's a rocket".
How to gain that much lives in legacy mode?
I go over it in more detail in my Stage 1 video, but basically careful play and _a lot_ of grazing.
At the end of every "chapter" (the checkpoint-like things throughout the stage) you get a score based on how much you've grazed and the percentage of enemies you killed in said chapter (Graze x Shooting% x 50 = Finish Bonus). If that number is over 1,000,000 you get a life piece. Though to make the math easy, the bare minimum you need to do is kill 100% of the enemies in a chapter (good to keep in mind since every boss spell counts as a chapter, so that's 100% each time) and get 200 graze points and you get a life piece.
Grazing's a little different as well. Grazing itself is still normal however if you hang out by a bullet long enough it'll turn a shade of red and if you stay there for about a second it drops a small graze point counting as 5 graze instead of 1. With how hard and fast enemies are coming at you, you can't really make good use of of that here, but in Stage 1 and 2 you _definitely_ can, so much so you can walk into Stage 3 with max lives.
12 minutes jesus christ
To beat "Striped Abyss", you only need vertical movement.
That is true, but in practice I found it to be more inconsistent than moving around like this. Yes pure vertical movement involves less moving altogether, but if you do that you deal with much smaller gaps. This may involve more moving, but the gaps you dodge through are larger.
Huh, I didn't have any problems at all, personally. I was even able to get through using Reisen's enlarged hitbox. Different Danmaku will be at different difficulties for different people, I guess.

Fun fact: i think normal clownpiece is harder than lunatic clownpiece, especially spell cards
Angelo Jose I think so too. The easy/normal versions of her spells are just pure hell
Clownpiece is harder on Normal than on Hard, but Lunatic is still very difficult. It generally has less stars but more/faster lasers.
This boss made me skip to Touhou 16...
