A cartoon so iconic, it managed to appear in Looney Tunes: Back in Action as a running gag!... man was I caught off guard when I saw it in theaters.
It’s funny how the main character was going to appear in the Looney Tunes Show with his song. However he got scrapped, but Gossamer ended up singing the song.
Ah yes! Owl Jolson, one of the first legendary Looney Tune one shots! His singing is just untouchable!
This short is great
Now this one's a classic. It has a music number, but it's a damn catchy one and there's an actual plot linked to it. Tex Avery's classic touches helps make this one stand out from all the previous shorts done like this. My favorite gag is father owl wearing out the carpet from pacing back and forth, waiting for his children to hatch and the cops on the radio responding to mother owl "No we haven't, lady." When she wonders if they found him yet.
Also, what was up with that creepy telegraph delivery bird sexually harrassing the secretary? No one EVER mentions that part.
Yeah, I also thought like... why the hell was that part in the short? I really didn't understand this joke.
I saw this so often as a kid on a vhs of 101 animations from cracker barrel. First time i saw the dad wear a rut in the floor i tried myself for about 30 minutes.
As iconic as this one is, this makes me feel... Strange emotions... Its sappy in some parts, in my opinion, and it makes me think of life. Like, it gets me existential. I dont know why. I think its because of how perfect everything is in this short.
The trophy clip trough the mallet
And this is the cartoon that inspired South Park
Lmao
