He didn’t steal anything, someone gave him that contract to his agent which they both agreed. I’m not sure how you can be bitter when this is the best era of kings basketball in an almost two decades and we just got another dawg in DeMar. How are you not filled with positivity waking up this morning?

As a Thunder fan, I'm happy for Kings fans..It is amazing how the opening of this pod sounded exactly like Thunder Pods when we signed Hartenstein. The 1st time in OKC history, we signed a big-time UFA(3yr deal) "Our culture is changing & how we're respected around the league. He chose us over big market NY/L.A"..."This is one of the biggest days in our franchise history as we have not only added a major talent but proven we can land big names in free agency. "Though fanbase loves our GM, many were frustrated how slow he was moving in adding that final piece. But he had a plan the whole time"..."There are fair critiques whether DeRozan/Hartenstein fit our system of spacing out our offense with great shooters but our (Coach if the Year winner) will figure out how to integrate him "...We got Caruso/Hartenstein. You Monk/DeRozan. Both traded our 6'8 SF (Giddey/Barnes)who was expendable with his salary & below average D'. Both have lockdown 2way Guards Devin Carter & Cason Wallace. Team built w/ a superstar Kentucky Guard who tied for most steals in NBA & a Gonzaga Big. Both have a 2nd Kentucky Guard as 6th Man/possible starter. Both were criticized for drafting a 21yr old Wing(Keegan/JDub) in lottery & both look like emerging Stars. With Monk-DD/Caruso-iHart we both acquired a former Bulls Fan Favorite & a 6th Man, without giving up major assets. Clippers, Nuggets & Lakers are getting old & losing good players. The Thunder & Kings are on the rise & will battle with Min, Dal & Memphis to win the West.

My mom had season tickets 86-97. I grew up at both arenas. I moved to vegas in 2000. I missed the golden era but, watched very closely. Never been to golden 1. We now have consistent scoring we haven’t had since Mitch Richmond. It’s almost as big as the Webber trade (cwebb was younger) but, today was probably the best day I can remember in sac kings history. Extending brown, not letting anyone near monk is great news! The way last season fell apart with injuries in the final weeks was one of the worst. I had big expectations to at least do damage in playoffs. I think we do damage and then some. Stay healthy and light that beam often!!! I’m excited for this season!

Some say it’s the best move, outsiders not kings fans says it’s bad. All and all, at least we made a move, it’s better than not make a move, good pickup monte!
I’m a kings fan, and I don’t think this moves the needle much as is. I think the spurs clearly won this trade and derozan is a ball stopper. I think the positive is sac didn’t give up much and still has ammunition for 1 big move. If You thought we were wing deficient before the trade look at us now.
@nathanprentiss7578 I think it moves the needle enough to make us good and fun to watch. The kings aren't a fast team. As much as I liked them playing fast a couple seasons ago, it just didn't work enough. Last season we didn't even have that high of a pace. So having a ball stopper type of player isn't a bad thing. We actually got someone who can just get a bucket outside of fox, someone who can actually hit free throws, and someone who plays every game. Was a great move here.
@@nathanprentiss7578At the end of the day they traded Barnes for an all star level talent. No doubt they still need to add a wing or even two. They have no consistent scoring outside of Fox and Monk. It puts Heurter on the bench which is where he really should be. Markkanen would have been the best fit but God knows what Utah is asking for there.

This is a Top 4 seed type move. They can really do damage with this lineup. Yeah, he's 34, but he's still averaging 24!

I see Kings going to DeRozan to bail them out whenever they're struggling or whenever they need to break momentum OR when the games are close. It's a toss up between him, FOX and Sabonis...usually FOX but now we have DeRozan as another option which is nice.
Now, about the fit...I can see team sagging and not guarding him at the 3pt line and preventing FOX from penetrating, or doubling Sabonis. But he doesn't have to stand at the 3pt line...he can just position himself 15ft away from the basket and may get a lot of open looks as a result of Fox penetrating. But I can see him attacking the basket as well and causing chaos on the defense. I also see how the Kings can take advantage of when FOX and Sabonis are resting and simply go to him in the post while surrounding him with shooters like Keegan, Ellis, MONK, ect., let him be who he is...
He can also hit spot up 3s as well. Wouldn't mind him taking a couple corner 3s a game. But the biggest attribute will be the playmaking. We could potentially have 4 pretty damn good playmakers in fox, monk, dero, and domas in the starting lineup.
The spacing won't be an issue, this isn't a "weird" fit, it's a weirdly perfect fit.

I think the Kings vastly improve just having Alex Len as the backup to Sabonis from day 1. I have no idea why he's so underappreciated. He's one of my favorite players he plays hard, smart, and is a good defender.

Derozan easily be our #2 behind Fox and pushing Domas as our 3rd option ang Keegan as the 4th. Gonna missed Barnes and hopefully we can find a wing to replace Barnes. DeRozan however brings that vocal leadership that the Kings sorely lack. If we can sign or trade for a 4 (Kuzma, Grant, Markannen) this is a contender easily!
Fox, monk, derozan, keegan and domas about to be a crazy lineup. We got a clutch player that can create their own shot and score at will! And it doesn't have to always be foxy, monk, or domas now. Maybe even keegan eventually can become that guy too in his 3rd year!

There is an important reason I would like to Keon start at the 2 instead on Monk, is to not fall behind in the first quarter which changes the entire complexion of the game. Keon's defense will help keep the Kings close or allow them to build s lead after the first quarter!

You think that same package could get ingram? I think I'd rather have kuzma but not sure. I think kuzma is the easier target to get.

Guys, relax! This is part 1 of the BIG move. The Kings didn't give up much to get DeRozan and still have viable pieces to trade for Ingram. If that happens, we're definitely thinking not only playoffs but championship contenders.

Never a big fan of kuzmas game, Ingram is injury prone and could have left after one year I believe and demar has been an absolute tank for years. Best possible outcome imo.

I think this was such an unexpected move by the Kings and it is crazy how strangely good the fit looks like it is going to be. I know DeRozan isn't that good of a 3 point shooter or defender and he is getting old... but It is definitely a better upgrade over Harrison Barnes. To me Harrison Barnes and DeMar DeRozan aren't really that different defensively (ppl really be saying the Kings got worse defensively losing Barnes?) DeRozan is also clutch and a guy that can step up to the plate when the team needs him too, whereas Harrison Barnes sometimes disappears on the court statistically even though he played 30 minutes. The Kings didn't even really give up that much for DeRozan either, nor is his contract extremely bad. Like at a second glance this actually makes a lot of sense and could possibly work really well. Just a few more pieces and the Kings can make a deep run.

After a frustrating few offseasons and trade deadlines we gotta give flowers to Monte b/c this is a masterful job taking advantage of an opportunity that nobody saw coming. Monte has preached flexibility for awhile now and he really utlized it this offseason. I hope our next phone call is used to acquire Rob Williams to anchor us defensively

One extremely important thing to note! The first two years are 58m guaranteed but the last year is NOT! So if his age all of a sudden starts really kicking his ass thats an interesting wrinkle.
DeMar brings someone who can create shots for himself and others. Currently, only Fox and Monk have those skills, and we saw what happened late last season when Monk was injured.
Well, to be honest, I though we should've gotten another big man. But I'm not a DeRozan hater, he's a great scorer and a tough player who gets tough buckets. I just hope he can change his game a bit to fit our system and new defensive identity.

If Monk & Huerter dont get hurt this team makes the playoffs last season. With no disrespect to HB, DeRozan is an upgrade to him. This coming season, I wouldn't be surprised if this Kings team ends up as a Top 4 seed.

Well according to ESPN over the last 24 hours Harrison Barnes is on par with Jaden McDaniels so I don't know if Demar has the same defense

@@westrueblood8178 Well hopefully, Domas will work on his 3s to create more spacing. DeRozan is what he is, but, we saw Domas started taking a 3 or two this past season, so fingers crossed, I guess? In terms of D, I think DeRozan is like serviceable, right in the middle of rhe pack maybe?
Demar is an upgrade frm when we had buddy Barnes n huerter n the lineup. I think Demar will be great with help defense. Huerter couldn’t keep anybody n front of him causing the defense to collapse. That won’t happen with Ellis n Demar n the lineup. As far as spacing it’s gona be fine. Fox monk Murray Trey Lyles Ellis all shoot way too many 3s already. Demar will be that guy to get to the line kick it out or pull the midrange. As long as Demar is moving n cutting sabonis will find him or Demar will find Murray monk or fox. We still need size n the paint n rim protection ❤

@@TheSherdsPaul george 273m, Derozen 78m, nearly same age, the kicker? Derozen scored more ppg last season. They traded Barnes and a couple packs of chips. Barnes was meh on defense, Derozen is meh on defense, except derozen is light years more effective on offense.
