Hi. I washed my Uniqlo bag - put inside a lingerie bag on a regular cycle in cold water with my clothes and air dried overnight - it looks just like new! It's truly a workhorse that I carry to run errands. It's small enough to hide under a coat without being bulky.😊

Yeah, I get you, lol. I live in rural Nebraska, but love luxury.
I buy vintage because of the quality. I usually carry my Coach or Dooney bags when roaming around town because those are considered higher end bags here. Sometimes a Ferragamo or LV Epi bag. A more subtle designer bag because people here don't recognize those. I often save my monogram LV and Chanel for when i go out of town. I "get" you, lol!

My go-tos for everyday (work) has been the Longchamp City Tote in black, and for grocery or travel days I use the Longchamp City pouch in black and a light blush color (I bought separate straps for both). It feels luxe but simple, and doesn't break the bank.

oooh, I've been so tempted by the longchamp pouches, and the light blush color is so pretty!

it’s funny because i have dupes of both your number one and two (and in the same colors), and they’re probably also my most worn bags 😂
i bring the belt bag everywhere especially for travel because it’s so easy to have across my chest and not have to worry about it

Oh, I've spent some time in a midwestern college town (Bloomington), so I know what you mean. Yours sounds even more remote! Perhaps in the summer you can take evening strolls in the park with your fancy bags and feel fancy, lol. My favorite knock around bag for everyday life is my Sakroots flat crossbody, which is an extremely functional coated canvas bag that I got for under $30. However, it is starting to yellow, so just under 2 years in and I'm about to replace it. For Texas Roadhouse, I'd consider all but my fanciest bags acceptable. But also, your job is fancy (ish), so you can wear nice bags there too!

I am retired and my life is so much simpler than when I worked. I line in an Ivy college town, but the only places I go are doctors ( unfortunately,) gym, unglamorous restaurants with husbands or friends. None of these places call for Chanel or other expensive bags, however I do wear them. I also belong to a private club, the only place “appropriate” for luxury fashion. When I don’t wear luxury bags, I feel guilty of wasting money or even worse- unhappy with my retirement life. 😂

Wear your lux bags with pride - and yes to the supermarket! I make an effort to glam up my (completely unglamorous) life with my bags even if I just go out to grab a coffee. There is no use to save them for an illusional later time or to go for the cheap nylon bags due to comfort. And even when travelling wear your Halzan instead of a cheap bag. I'll just booked 3 trips around the world and plan on taking 2 lux bags along that will go well with e.g. sightseeing. And 99.9% of the people don't know a thing about bags, so wearing them is just for me.

I love how you called it an "illusional later time" - that's EXACTLY what that is! 😅 PS. what 2 bags do you plan on taking on your adventures???

TY. Not sure yet, perhaps my small bolide or triomphe for the cities and Dior tote for the plane.

My husband is active duty USAF and we are stationed in rural North Dakota. I work as a Nurse Practitioner and while there are some very fancy bags I would like to own, but honestly where am I going to wear them when it’s -20? I do have a vintage Speedy 25 in black epi leather that is a work horse for me during the winter months!
