@@FullValueDan I was approved and set up my account, and I thought I would share something that your viewer might want to consider, if they have holdings in their associated brokerage accounts. The overdraft of the checking by default will draw from the primary brokerage account. So if one has cash positions in the brokerage, it is subject to withdrawal for both the debit card and the checking. I have significantly more cash in my brokerage than my checking, so to limit potential fraud, I have the overdraft disabled.

I have the Charles Schwab Investor account. Schwab needs a MasterCard or Visa with a 2% cash back feature. The Amex card with Schwab is 1.5% cash back. No annual fee and no foreign transaction fee..

You mentioned opening and then cancelling, but it looks like they charge at least $50 if you cancel an account with them. Since it's 2 separate accounts; checking and brokerage, that's a $100 loss in itself right?

No fees for the Schwab Brokerage account. You can have $0 in it. Same for the Checking account, no fees or minimums
Ally Bank has the best apy for checking at 0.10% but still not the highest since newer banks have 0.50%
Schwab is currently 0.45
I just opened this combo checking brokerage account. Their website in 2023 could be more modern and HTML based coming from Merrill Lynch where there's really looks good. Other than that a good brokerage with good investment research. I guess they make their money on ACH deposit holds that they put where I do not see that at Merrill. But hey, nothing is free, they make their interest form our money somewhere.

Good question! Yes, the "brokerage account" and the checking account are a combo package. There's no fees for either and you can keep the balance $0 if you like.

Charles Schwab is a great broker and have them myself. The only thing is the cash sitting in a cash account. The rate has dropped like everywhere else.

Is your money insured in charles schwab brokerage account???
If you mean FDIC insured, it's not, but that's normal. There aren't any brokerage accounts that are FDIC insured due to the volatility of stocks. Only Checking and Savings accounts can be FDIC insured.
No brokerage account is FDIC insured but they do have SIPC insurance.
I keep my savings in the brokerage account since rates are low everywhere, might as well keep it in the brokerage ready to make a trade.

If you chose to do so. You can link any and all Schwab accounts so you can move money in and out of each account. You can also link your accounts to accounts outside Schwab and electronically transfers funds when needed. This is probably the same for all the major brokerage / banking firms. I keep one local banking account for convenience (safe deposit box, cash deposits) because I do not have a Schwab physical bank near me. I think there are only 300 Schwab banks scattered around the country.

It was not specifically mentioned that I should suppose to deposit the 1000 dollars in brokerage account and not in the checking account. I deposit it in checking and been there for over a month and the promo period has expired. Sadly, i haven't got the 100 dollar sign in bonues

You will be charged the ATM fee but Schwab will refund you that ATM fee when you get your monthly bank statement.
