- The cultural performance, “Hangzhou, A Living Poem”, which featured a symphony concert and gala on water, was staged alongside the West Lake. The show, put together by Chinese director Zhang Yimou, is a cultural fusion of the East and West, with traditional Chinese music blended with a touch of Western classics.

The Chinese sure know how to put on a show. The Olympics were by far the most impressive ever and this was also very beautiful. I guess no one can top the energy and creativity of over a billion people.
and faultless execution too by about a thousand performers on stage, counting all singers, symphony players, dancers.
India over a billion of peoples are possible to make it too

After watching the 2008 Olympic game show, i came to here. Man, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics totally changed my view on Japan.
The show, performers, set up, area, stage, background and presentation were spectacular!!! I am not Chinese but I feel proud. No country has ever put on such a outdoor show for world leaders. Such incredible planning and meticulous timing. China is really a rich cultural powerhouse. The leaders fortunate enough to attend really should be astounded. President Xi and First Lady and China really did such a good job to welcome everyone. Bravo to China!

Congratulations to Director Zhang Yimou, he should seriously be considered for an award of Lifetime Achievement from UNESCO ( Create one if it doesn't exist! ), Hollywood Oscar, Cannes & Golden Horse Motion Picture Awards, ... etc.

I have Polish roots, I am impressed, beautiful. Me and many Poles like the Chinease art, it's different from European. Especially I like the watercolor paintings - I like it very much. I have 3 small pictures after my dead Family (1 was in China).

Before G20， there has been another opera named the memory of west-lake. Different from this video, memory of west-lake is more related to the local culture with Chinese ancient dancers and songs. In my view, I like the memory of west-lake more than this opera on G20 summit. Welcome to hangzhou, and you can enjoy the memory of west lake any day.

I am so proud for my hometown, some of sections in this gale are perfect mach Hangzhou's feature. The first perform was a dance to imitated the movement of people who were picking green tea's leaf from tree plants. Because Hangzhou product a famous green tea which called LongJing Tea.The second perform was YUE opera which also originated in ZheJiang province.
I love Hangzhou too. Been there 2 times. there's something about that place that seems to be calling me back. Im a foreigner working in Shanghai.

Long time ago a Chinese teacher said to me, it was hard to put on The Swan Lake, because though one or two good dancers were easy to find, it was hard to find 4 dancers for the group dances. Now we have two dozen swans, plus 50 fake ones. What a spectacle.

We witnessed it in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Now he did it again for 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea and 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia

He also directed the closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games. Recently received special award from Venice Film Festival for his contributions to Chinese and world cinema. His upcoming movie, Shadow, will hit Chinese cinemas this September.
听到《梁祝》时浑身起了鸡皮疙瘩，记得曾经推荐给外国友人听此曲，友人说这首曲子就是他印象里的中国音乐，柔曼而隽永，美丽并忧伤。之后看到字幕介绍了伯牙和钟子期之间的故事，才想起这才是我真正喜爱的中国意境。最后，请楼下那些喷子能否不要在这里开骂，玷污了美轮美奂的表演。还有，表演虽好，但也没必要和里约比较，真正的美不是通过贬低别人来凸显自己，拿出你的胸襟和度量。

This absolutely awesome performance was the result of meticulous planning and punishing schedule. The Chinese have gone to great lengths, the extra mile, to welcome the world to the ancestral homeland of Chinese everywhere. Entire swathes of residential properties were purchased at above market prices just to make way for the reinvention of Hangzhou. I salute the government of Xi Jin Ping because she has done a great job and brought awareness to the culture of the Chinese while honouring the beauty of the international communities around us. This show was played at a thousand years old lake -- West Lake（XiHu）. At the beginning, it was a part of story about the 1st emperor of Qin, then it was used to dredge canals in Song Dynasty. Today, this lake met important people from all over the world. As if you can see and touch the development of two thousand years. This makes me very touched and proud of being a Chinese young people.
The Belt & Road Forum evening gala r spectacular! This is a world class performance! So powerful & uplifting. The Orchestra, the Instruments & Choreography is really brilliant. The background.landscape, it was magnificent. The "Except From Swan Lake" ballet is breath-taking. The show brings back the rich culture & traditions of China & different stories of Legends "MoonLit Night on Spring River," "Picking Tea," and "Beautiful Love Story" between Zhu Yintai & Liang Shanbo is fascinating! It's the first time I ever watch a ballet ensemble dancing Swan Lake in water. The choreographer focuses too much on the visual effect with the Corps de Ballet, which makes the performance unique. I would have loved to watch the whole piece with the leading ballerina dancing solo both as Odile, the white swan and Odette the Black Swan - very challenging roles.
I would like it too.
It is about visual effect, very pleasing to the eye.
Do you know how scary that is? Dance on the water is nothing new, ballet and en pointe is hard to be done with the slippery surface.
Apparently they had plenty practice, and performed extremly well.
A Lynn I think they have done something to the surface of the stage as well. If it were that slippery, some music instrument may fall down or move when the stage is moving.
