I think that they should change this again.
Same upside as now, teleport from spawn to exit at will is sweet. However the downside of the slower repair and upgrade make engineer SO BORING. So, how bout' if instead of the slower build/repair stats and instead of a lack of building moment it *costs metal* to move your sentry.

Maybe instead of a static cost to pick up and move a building, it would cost a certain amount per second or so. Maybe even per second on top of an initial cost.

I remember a few days ago Jerma came on to the server I was playing on. It was LazyPurple's 2nd Silly Server. We were on a map called koth_trainsawlaser (don't ask) and we did a Heavy conga through a barrage of falling trains. It was so much fun and I was reminded of this when I saw his name in this video is "Grumble", which was his name on the server. Jerma, if you are reading this, thank you for such a good time!

There was a time, a time before something called the mini-sentry was added and hated by all. It was a time of agressive engineering. There were those who were hated as much as combat medics but then there are those who were feared and inspired the creation of the Mini-sentry due to their game play. The Eureka Effect harks back to those days. It is meant to be played in that way. You build fast and keep moving, Set up an exit for ambushes, Nothing you have is past level 2 unless some other engie does it that way. If there is a second engie, they upgrade your stuff while you push and deny, keeping the ground your team has captured. This is the Eureka engie... and most people do not know how to play it.

People these days are just too stupid too understand the gameplay behind the Eureka Effect.
They clearly upgrade at the speed of drying paint, why are they still upgrading? The penalty is to discourage taking care of your sentry, yet they still do it.
I swear, back then, humans had common sense.

I've heard Grant Goodeve, the voice actor of the Engineer, retired and passed the role to Nolan North, who voiced him (and a few Soldier lines) in the Expiration Date video. Nolan North must be a pretty busy guy though, doing voice roles for fucking every video game ever, and I wonder if Valve would like to find somebody a little more permanent. Imagine Jerma taking over for Engie after this opening!
Actually, speaking of Expiration Date, it was co-wrote and voice-acted by CZcamsr Ashley Burch. How fucking cool would it be if Jerma and STAR were allowed to write and voice act in their own game-changing official TF2 shorts? I mean, they both are pretty iconic and well loved by the community. Not to disparage Ashley Burch but both Jerms and Ster have done so much more for the community to earn an official short. I mean, obviously there are way more factors at play then how "fair" it is, but still...would that be so goddamn cool?

These changes really ruined the Eureka Effect. I was totally prepared for the no carrying buildings, when you big sentry, you don't move much anyway, then had to run back or teleport to your gear if you escaped or went back for metal. But now there is no benefit to use this. Teleporting around but not having time to build your gear isn't worth it. Taking a bad weapon and making it worse while the Frying Pan is STILL the most OP broken weapon in the game. Come on Valve, plz fix pan
Okay, I respect your argument and I agree with you. The EE is now like the Cozy Camper of Engi items, or an item that's good in theory but not effective in practice. I love the teleporting part of it, being able to zoom from point A to point B back to point A in 6 seconds is really handy for refilling ammo and health, but the reduced repair and upgrade rated enforce more babysitting for your sentry.
However, what I do not agree with is your claim that "the Frying Pan is the most broken OP weapon in the game." I don't know if that was a joke or not, but in the case of it being serious, the Pan is identical to all default melees except for the fact that it's louder. Just because Star has made videos talking about how crazy the Pan and the Ham are does not mean it's true; All default melee weps and reskins function identically. It's like saying the Staff or the Memory Maker are broken and OP.
yes Pan OP is a running joke of the TF2 community, though people do swear that it hits and crits more often than the stock melee weapons.
I'd say the REAL most broken weapon in the game right now is the new rocket launcher. A player rocket jumps out of nowhere and takes out an entire team and sentry nest with a barrage of rockets. Even considering things like the Sticky Launcher, that thing is seriously OP.
Very good point. The Air Strike is based around rocket jumping and blasting everyone. But I find disappointing. To be fair it has all the downsides when one first spawns. Reduced starting clip, explosion radius, and damage make it difficult to get the full 8 rocket clip size. I find it more of a chip weapon: a weapon made more for assists than kills. But I respect your opinion and hold it as valid.

The eureka effect is actually quite useful on offense. Whenever your spawn updates, you teleport to spawn, put down a new entrance, and then teleport back to your nest.
With how slow it builds, a good spy will laugh at the engie.

Here's my thought: You ever have someone destroy the entrance, but need to stay with your sentry or the spy will sap the hell out of it? Now you can quickly go to spawn, place a new entrance, quickly teleport back to the nest and fend off the spy.

On the contrary, the Eureka Effect allows you to use the exit tele, regardless if there is a entrance or not, and that will have no cooldown either. Suprised that no one has figured that out yet

This is amazing. You could make a great combat engie loadout with this. Put an exit in some out of the way spot near the enemies, and when you die teleport back to the exit

How in the world are you not dying constantly to Spies and Snipers? I NEVER stand still or face the same direction for more than two Wrench swings, and even that's never enough.
Jerma you can use the eureka effect to store and move sentrys from place to place because you never have to destroy buildings you just tele to spawn with a building and store it there then go back and bring it with you after
