    OMG! This video is dead on on all points. After working at losing 25 pounds for 20 years with NO results, not snacking between meals has finally budged my stagnant weight loss. I thought I was a deficient not functioning bad unit all these years! It's IMPOSSIBLE to lose weight when your insulin is up. It takes 2 hours after eating for your insulin to normalize and level out. So if you graze all day long, you will NEVER lose weight. You have to let your body rest after working hard on digestion, so that it can then get on to detoxing and cleansing (ie. losing weight). So eat huge veggie and fruit laden meals to be full, and don't snack. Am down 12 pounds - 13 to go.

      @mjolnir9855 Před rokem

      If you spread out 1000 calories of pure starch over 8 meals, you'll still lose weight because Calories are limited. More calories will drive up your insulin longer and harder. Calories matter in the end. This is why Roux en Y recepients all get over type 2 diabetes, despite eating carbohydrates after surgery - it's because they are eating far less calories. Less insulin output, and less esterfication (fat absorption).
      In the end, a calorie, is a calorie, is a calorie - when it comes to weight loss. You can lose weight eating 1000 calories of pure carbs, pure fats, or pure protein...because the calories are what will make you fat. Eat low(er) fat, or exercise, or just eat slightly less food overall and you will take off weight.

    Good points! I do find, however, that if I don’t eat much fat, and I over-do it on carbs, I’m ALWAYS hungry or craving more carbs. We’re all different, but I lost weight and felt satisfied and didn’t suffer eating a low carb, medium fat diet. We’re all different! It really does come down to calories in/calories out. We just have to pay attention to what works for our own bodies!

I used to go to the gym every day at 5:00 AM but then the gyms shut down so my exercise routine changed and not in a good way. I still run and cycle but not as regularly as going to the gym daily rain or shine. I move less now yet consume the same as when I worked out more. Also working from home I swapped out my daily salad for lunch for more snacks throughout the day. I keep tweaking my diet and Im not giving up ! As you say the main thing is eating healthy and boy do I ever eat healthy now due to covid . I used to go out to eat a couple times a week but I have not gone out for a year now . I figured it was a great opportunity to eat super healthy from home since I dont go out . Very occassionally I will have a tofurky sausage with dinner ( but just one now instead of two ) and everything else is organic whole plant foods . I dont even drink smoothies anymore . No oil , no sugar ! I started intermittent fasting at the beginning of february as well . I finish eating for the day by 6 or latest 7pm on occassion . Then I drink herb teas in the evening to take my mind off food . First calories I take in are the next day at 10 am I have a coffee with oat milk I make myself with a half cup of organic oats and a tablespoon of hemp hearts blended with water . I used to strain in but I find now that I love the thick creaminess and of course I dont lose the fiber that way . It really fills me up and then in a couple hours later I have my lunch and then 4 hours after that I have dinner , always with a big salad and I make my own sauces in the blender with tumeric , cayenne , a bean base , a medjool date , raw garlic or other healthy ingredients so I dont have to feel guilty eating my dressing because it is a nutritious part of the meal . I dont have a scale so I dont know for sure but I dont seem to be losing my belly fat ! The intermittent fasting makes my belly feel much better because before ( I assume because of the fiber abd constantly eating ) my belly would get so distended and Id be so gassy . Im amazed that with all Im doing that I am not losing weight fast but I think it is a whole new ball game when you are post menopausal . Somebody told me that after you finish having periods your ovaries dont make you any estrogen anymore but the belly fat actually produces estrogen for you . Maybe thats why many women my age have bellies . Anyways I am not giving up because generally I do feel good eating this way and hopefully over time my belly will shrink . Ive been hiking quite strenuously 1 hour a day since the pandemic began as well which youd think would produce good results but again , even if Im not losing weight I feel much stronger and healthier . Now I am adding high intensity interval exercising as well . Wish me luck ! Maybe if you have any ideas about the challenges of losing weight after menopause you could do a video on that topic . I subscribed , thanks .

    Very helpful. I've given up on impossible products (hopefully for good). Yesterday my sister in law had dinner at Cheesecake Factory I had an impossible burger wrapped in lettuce. I wasn't tempted to indulge in the basket full of warm bread and soft butter. I was so proud of myself. I do eat perhaps a few more nuts than I should. I justify it since they're raw sun flower and pumpkin seeds. I've been a vegetarian for over 30 years but still struggled with my weight. I truly see improvements with my weight since becoming oil, salt and dairy free. I'm 5'3 164 pds down from 176 in 5 1/2 weeks. I really appreciate your presentation. I'll be watching.😊

I weighed my self this pass Monday which I always do on Mondays and Fridays and I had gained 2 pounds I could not believe it, how well I had been eating so I had to backtrack what I had been eating to much of 🤔and it came to mind that I had not been mindful of how many calories I was taking in. I realized it had to be the avocados every day, the dates in my smoothies and salads every day, to many fruits every day I was eating 2 mangos and about 2 cups of grapes everyday, and I was using plenty of olive oil to make my cabbage or cauliflower steaks, the only process food is the meatballs and the ground crumbles, I will eventually get off those. I said to myself I still must always remember everything has calories except water 😂. My MASSIVE weakness is letting myself go on my period. ‘I feel crap, I need extra calories, I deserve this...’ I can put back on 6lb in one week! That’s all of the hard work over the month gone in 7 days!!!
    Any advice on treating yourself on period days please?!?

    • @HealthyVeganMama
      @HealthyVeganMama  Před 3 lety +8

      Yes...treat yourself...but just don’t crazy If I ever have feelings of wanting let’s say chocolate, I’ll have it, but it’s not “extra.” So let’s say I am dying for chocolate...I’ll make my favorite chocolate mug cake and have that for lunch...I’ll then have a big side of broccoli after and that’s my lunch. I’m satisfied, full and happy. And all of that was only about 300 calories. I choose to not have snacks like a mug cake in between meals. Instead I make it part of my meal so I’m not eating an access amount of calories for the day. I will say though, the longer I’ve been eating this way, the less and less I have any type of period cravings.
      Also it’s almost impossible to gain 6lbs of fat in one week. You would need to eat an extra 21,000 calories that week (since 1 lb of fat equals 3500 calories). It’s most likely water weight, fluid you’re retaining and possibly your glycogen stores filling up from extra carbs or salt. This happens. Every month I am 3-5 lbs more on the scale the week after my period. So don’t fret too much about that. Just stay consistent and I say do what you have to (in moderation) to help those cravings.

    When I first went vegan in 2013 I slowly but surely dropped 92lbs
    I also cured my anemia.
    Then a few tragedies happened in my life and I became worn down and started reaching for vegan convenience junk foods:
    Oreos, pizza by the boat load, fries, drive-thru veggie burgers with fries and soda. I started living on this stuff and put it all back on.
    Now mind you, I'm absolutely not saying a vegan diet made me gain weight bc after all I dropped 92lbs going vegan.
    Most obese people aren't vegan.
    It comes down to the choices we make. So thank you for arming us with better choices ❤

    This is a wonderful video! General rule to remember is that if you’re overweight, you’re just eating too many carbs. All carbs convert to sugar in the body which spikes your insulin. Without insulin, the body cannot store the sugar as fat.
    You can eat as much fat as you want and it won’t contribute to any weight gain. However- stick to good fats (Avocado oil, Salmon, Nuts, etc)
    Bad fats in snacks, canola oil, etc won’t make you gain weight but will give you a stroke or heart attack. This is because bad fats are hydrogenated/trans fats, which increase your bad cholesterol- which builds nasty plaque in your arteries.
    Good fats kill bad fat. Do not be afraid of calories or fats.
    DEATH to carbohydrates! Lol
    For weight loss, stay under 150g of carbs a day.
    To switch your body’s system from using carbs as it’s main energy source to using fat, stay under 50g (Ketosis)
    Before changing your diet, create at least 3 go-to ways ways to manage your emotions and stress or it won’t work. You’ll default to carbs like a drug when your angry, upset, or need to feel good.
    Wish you all the best! ☺️ I did it, you can too!

    I have been trying different ways to lose weight since Christmas. I am just the same as I was.
    I'll try your tips as I do eat the plant based burgers sometimes and use oil.
    Love your accent.

    most vegan foods are extremely high in calories and you need to eat a ton of calories to get enough protein to function/workout. Also, you need to work out and incorporate cardio to offset the high caloric intake. Supplementing protein with powder is also necessary.

      Vegan “processed” foods are high in calories. Whole plant foods are not, minus nuts and seeds and avocados. Exercise is not needed for weight loss, but can certainly help. Exercise is also is needed for great health. However, I lost 50 lbs barely exercising and eating only vegan whole plant foods.

    I just signed up with healthy emmie because I recognised my issue was with my mindset, so seeing your video gave me an extra level of confidence that it was the right move.
