    I’ve been using the garage door openers for about 1.5 years and have had them go unresponsive only once, quick unplug and replug fixed. Love their smart plugs and have a couple switches and lamps too. Definitely an affordable solution to get stuff that works in Apple Home. Didn’t know about the leak sensors, so thanks for that.

    Just a quick kudos: we are moving in a new flat in 6 months in germany and are currently prepping our transition from alexa to homekit.
    And you are such a help on our journey, can't say thanks enough!
    Keep up the great Job!

    The Meross garage door opener has been one of those surprising value adds to my Apple Home setup, status in CarPlay saves driving around the block to see if I left the door open. Their indoor and outdoor plug made for a pretty inexpensive Christmas lighting setup. I often recommend them to someone starting out.

      I like the garage door opener too, it is extremely helpful. My truck doesn’t have wireless CarPlay so I don’t use CarPlay as much as I would like. How do you CarPlay with the opener?

    I have the Meross garage door opener and I think you’re going to be very pleased with it. Two years now and only one issue. (It can interfere with the controller that came with the door. ) Meross had me move their device away from the door opener motor assembly via extra wires and no more issues. It apparently only effects some models of Liftmaster brand. I would buy it in a second! No batteries to replace, no stupid hubs (I hate those) and reliable operation with my HomeKit (remember when Apple called it that? ) Also a reasonable price to boot!

    Just got my first smart plug from them and loving it so far, much more responsive than my yeelight bulb which is also decent for what I paid so no complains for both for my cheap smart room

    I’ve been using a Meross Smart Power Strip for 5 months now. Rock solid for the most part. Only went No Response once and speed is almost matching my Aqara plugs.

    Great expansive video, Brad! I love when I open one of your videos and it’s 15+ minutes. The one Meross product I use is their 3-socket outdoor SmartPlug (and I have two of them). Similar to your experience with their other products, I do need to reset this about every four months - a simply need to unplug it for about 15 seconds and plug it back in. It automatically reconnects and all of my automations are maintained.
    I love that with your being in Canada, you basically have a SmartHome accessory proving ground! Hearing that your Meross outdoor plugs can even withstand your winters gives me high confidence that they will withstand the “slightly” less ferocious Los Angeles winters 😅.

      Thanks for this! I try to mix things up to tailor content to the different preferences and often wonder if 15+ is too long but glad to hear you specifically like longer content!
      Yes, the winters can be brutal but this year it’s been oddly warm one week and then ice/snow storm the next. Can’t wait for April! I agree it’s helpful in Canada to test out in conditions from all the seasons!

    Great video Brad! I use meross bulbs and plugs and they are solid except for a bulb outside on my porch that randomly turns off at night and it’s not in any automation

    I hvae installed two of the MSG100 garage door openers. They work really well for me. I also use several of the Smart Plugs. In particular, I use them with my Home Pod Minis. Since they are Wifi, I can access them from outside the house even if my Home Pods are not working. In fact, that is why I have them installed on the Home Pods - to reboot them if they stop responding. I learned the hard way that the Eve Smart Plug is not suitable for this use case as they require the Home Pod to communicate with the outside world. Thanksfully I only bought one of them - nice plugs, but not compatible with this application.

    • @TheBradLloyd
      @TheBradLloyd  Před rokem

      Hi Steve, smart idea using the smart plugs to reboot HomePods. I’ve done this for other devices as well.

  • @Joebnx1

    Thanks Brad. Great video. I have several Meross products and only just added the out door plugs with 2 more on the way. Like you every once in a while, one of the devices goes unresponsive. The other really odd thing is that some of the plugs or light switches randomly switch off then back on again. I don’t know if that is a Homekit or Meross thing. We will be sitting in a room and one of the lights will just switch off then on. I have not seen the reverse where one switches on then off. I did change from MyQ to Meross garage door opener a few years ago as the myQ kept giving me false reports of open or closed status. It happened so often I had to put a camera in the garage so I could confirm it. No such problem with Meross.

    This video made me realise how many meross products I own. I rarely think about them because they’re so reliable. Also they make some of the neatest smart plugs for Irish (uk) plugs. Would definitely recommend

    I’m impressed with Meross. I do prefer eve for switches. I wish both manufacturers would create a in wall smart switch with the soon to be standard usb-c plugs. In fact you could plug in a 100inch television and power it , your cable box, and your sound system with just 1 cord going into the wall. with less of a mess of power cabling around your home.
    I have seen smart wall plugs for $79.99 but if you are going to charge that much you Midas well have a usb a and c option.

    Good vid. The MSL 320 pro light strip has been unavailable in the USA for many months now for some reason. And on the meross website, it looks like they only sell it in the UK and the EU. I have two of them, and I wish I had a few more. Damn shame.

    I don’t know why I didn’t know Meross had a double outlet plug, I need to look into this. I do have the power strip and the outdoor plugs. I love them, especially during the holidays! I have a lot of their wall switches, I love the dimmer switch that has the second Bluetooth switch. I was able to make a single pole into a faux 3-way with it. However, I am slowly starting to phase them out and replace them with Lutron. I like the idea of having my switches on a hub so I don’t have so many connected to my Wi-Fi. I also recently found out that the Meross light switch does not work with VOCOlinc light bulbs =/

  • @EDGtech
    @EDGtech Před rokem +1

    Meross is what got me started on my smart home when I was living the apartment life. Now that I’ve purchased a newly remodeled home I’ve been switching them out for Lutron’s new claro and diva switches. They look and feel so much more premium but also don’t fill up my network

    • @TheBradLloyd
      @TheBradLloyd  Před rokem

      Totally get that, I definitely agree Lutron is second to none in reliability and are a premium product. I invest in Lutron in several places around the house! It’s always interesting to hear about the different preferences, depending on your smart home goals and budget!

    I think all Meross products are great, one you didn’t mention which is a winner is the floor lamp, got it for my wife when she asked for something to use when we’re watching tv. It works great in HomeKit, also has a remote and has many options of brightness and cool and warm whites! The flexible neck is great also!

    Every Meross device I have tried has been junk. Not reliable. Lose connection or just failed. It’s been a while and maybe newer stuff is better but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. So if you go with budget HomeKit devices don’t expect them to perform like the “premium” products and by premium I mean mostly Eve thread. In my opinion the gold standard HK devices.

    • @nicholas790
      @nicholas790 Před rokem

      @@TheBradLloyd Brad I was so hopeful because I really liked the idea of being able to control the plugs themselves separately. But they seemed to lose their connection every couple of days. Got tired of unplugging and re-plugging in outdoor plugs to try and get them to reset. Meross support was terrible. Finally gave up in disgust. I really wished they had worked !!
