Wiper Arm Removal Tool
amzn.to/3TeTKnU
A _factory_ upgrade that’s compatible with all JLs and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg: amazing! Kudos to Jeep!
It’s awesome!
I added these right after this video was posted. They are a great idea and they work well when they work. Oddly, both of my wiper arm tubes failed at the same time. The failure is with the underhood side of the tube joint. It’s clear by looking at the failure mode that the hose gets twisted every time the wiper moves. I was able to cut off about an inch of the broken hose and then reinstall the plastic piece, using some heat shrink tubing to retain it. Sadly they only lasted about 14 months. But it is a pretty easy fix as long as the hose is long enough to keep cutting off an inch I think next time I’ll just go back to the stock system
.
Same experience here. I went back to the factory setup today.
I really enjoy your channel and thank you for the detailed video! Just installed mine and this helped a ton!
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
Thanx for great video !!
Watching your videos and showing what Jeep has to offer is like a kid at Christmas day
I appreciate the kind words!
Just installed these on my jeep with help from your video. Thank you!
Glad this helped!
I ordered a set of these. Finally got them installed today and they rock! Thanks for the video
Glad this could help!
Great video made for an easy install! Thank you Dirt Road Cred!!!!!!
Glad to help!
Thanks for the video. Definitely a must for the JL.
Thanks for commenting!
The wipers look real good. Thanks for posting. I am enjoying your channel. 👍
Thanks for commenting!!
been waiting this this install video so I can install mine! thanks Matt!
Thanks for watching!!
Yesssss I was waiting for this! I have them sitting on my dresser all week.
Hopefully this helps!
Those are great- nice video! Thanks guys
Thanks!!!
Installed mine. They work great!!
Great to hear!
Looks like a fun and useful "upgrade" - thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Another great video. Thanks Matt, I was wondering how they install. I think I'll order them now.
Thanks for watching Tim!
I get so much bug splats during my road trips that I am super excited to get this upgrade for my Gladiator. Seem reasonable to me. Thanks for this!
Thanks for watching!
Very very useful video!! Just completed mine! Thank you! One small advice for a bit older Jeep owners (mine is 2020 Rubicon), please be careful while removing that panel. The clips might break easily. Broke two of mine but managed without it while putting it back.
Interesting! Good call!
Cool review and they look sweet.
I’d like to see your review on these in the PA winters. Usually you have engine heat to thaw out the frozen windshield cleaner.
We’ll have to see how they perform!
I own these because I have a quad row 360 LED light bar mounted across my 2023 High Velocity JLUR.
Love them!!! It doesn’t use that much fluid as I thought.
Thats a great point!
Thanks!! Ordered!!
Awesome!
This is how the wipers on my Volvo V60 work. I am SUPER picky regarding a clean windshield. I LOVE this set up. awesome and the blades are like $28 for a set and mine are way bigger than the tiny size on the Wrangler.
That’s good to hear!
Had to order some after the video. Living in the PNW,they will come in handy in the winter.
I’m excited to see how they do this winter!
Ok, These are cool. Didn't even realize I needed something until I saw this video.
They are awesome!
Just put a set on my Jeep today. Pretty easy install.
Yes not that bad!
Wow that's awesome 😎 easy install that anyone can do thanks Matt
Thanks for watching!!!
@@DIRTROADCRED you welcome Matt
Ment to ask will this work on JK?
Looks awesome.
Thank you!
Can’t wait to see how well they hold up on the snow and ice
Time will tell!
I’ve been looking for a video on how to remove the cowl panel. Thank you.
No problem! Glad I could help!
Add that to the list
👍👍👍
These remind me of the wipers on a 1987 K5 blazer
Lololol
This is going to be so nice! Had to pullover the highway the other day cause I didn’t properly remove the snow/ice from the sprayers and so they didn’t work and I couldn’t see!! 🤦🏻♀️
Nice!!
I can never get my wiper arm off. I will be getting that removal tool. Thanks a bunch.
No problem!!!
This is a game changer on a road trip with all the bugs.
Absolutely!
I’m excited to test these this weekend in the mud. My luck is there will not be enough though.
My other thought is after about two years I will probably be replacing the whole kit since it’s all plastic and will not hold up for a lifetime. So a year on each blade set seems fairly reasonable
Great point, they are pretty simple to install!
I see you have a new? or your own channel now. That cool, congrats on that.
As for this wiper upgrade, I'm not convinced. I've never been driving in my jeep and thought, 'these wipers suck, I wish Jeep would do something about it'.
In fact, I think the JL sprayers off the hood are one of the best I've ever had in an offroad vehicle. They cover the windshield left to right and put down a lot of fluid.
I won't be buying these. but Thanks for showing them. Still helped me make a decision.
Yup this is my own channel! Time will tell on these wipers!
Looks good. I have a 2022 JT and there is actually a delay so the fluid hits the windshield before the wipers start to move or scrub
I’ve noticed that on my 22 JL as well!
It would be nice when at highway speeds for more than the lower half of the windshield to get washer fluid on it. Thats the biggest benefit for these IMO.
Definitely going to see how it performs in the next few weeks!
I installed mine this past weekend.
Some tips for 1st time removers, loosen the nut for the wiper arms, bring it to the top of the bold, pull up on the blade arm and tap the nut at the same time lightly with a hammer.
Some initial concerns are the hose braids already frayed after teh first few wipes, and the quick disconnects rub the plastic when in motion.
However, if it does fail, or freezes in michigan winters (that's why I have -20* fluid) it's simple to just pop the hood, and plug back in the stock wiper nozzles.
Good tips!
How are you liking the performance over the winter so far? Did the issues you mention with the fit and finish get worse?
@@mikeanthony5125 the hose at the driver side wiper blade had broken twice so far. I cut it back and reinserted it, but since theres. Kink in the hose it eventually breaks.
I love it when it works. But when it breaks I have to pop the hood and plug back in the old hood hose until i get a chance to fix it.
Ooooo might have to get these soon 😍 my windshield is a mess 😂
I’m happy with them!
Love them. Great install!
Thank you!
Those are pretty cool wipers. I want to get them, but I need to see how they are in the winter. Will you be doing a follow up/long term review in a few months?
Yes I will be!
100% Very interested in their winter performance of if they just freeze up.
I’m curious as well!
These will be on my JK this weekend.
Awesome!!
@@DIRTROADCRED installed these on the JK and they work perfect. Was even surprised to see a spare set of blades in the box.
My suburban had similar, the water jet was on the arm
Ahhh that’s neat!
Damn, this look sweet!
They’re awesome!
Thanks for the video. It made installation of my set a breeze. You should get a commission from Jeep. I would not have purchased them had I not seen them in your channel.
Thanks so much, maybe jeep will one day!
Did you ever get the part number for the replacement blades?
Good luck to the next owner of the vehicle who will probably try to replace the whole blade LOL. This looks great... would buy
Lol hopefully they watch this video!
Do they sell the blades separately? I'd love to install these on my big rig... you know what size they are?
Have you seen the EZ Flares CL Foam Rubber 2 in extenders. My husband and I just bought the Jl sport with a package already installed from the manufacturer. We were thinking about having these flares installed, but are not sure 🤔 We purchased them from Amazon. We can’t find fender flares from mopar that we like. Any ideas. My hubby wants the flare to run along side the whole fender.
The ez flares would probably be the best bet for full fender coverage!
Is there a part number for the replacement blades yet? I looked at the website, but the only blades they have are the replacement for the whole blade hand, not the rubber itself
man that crzy ca that fit on JK AS WELL
I think they will!
@@DIRTROADCRED where i can find it
I wonder if there will be a way to remove the hood sprayers and plug the hole with something
I’m sure you could!
Hey Matt, was there a single part number for replacement blades? Was thinking since these are not offered for the millions of no JL wranglers out there I'd try fitting the blade into my current arms. (2007 JKU)
Nothing yet! I will have a jk test subject coming soon!
If I can find out if these will work on a JK I will have a set. So any info would be helpful.
I’m going to try them on my neighbors jk hopefully this weekend and see if it will work!
Already placed order. What was motor under cowl? After dealer oil change AC makes loud thump in dash when above lvl 5.
That’s the wiper motor, not sure why that would be affected, definitely get it looked at!
New jeep owner here, do they make them for a Jk?
My question is it worth it, it's only windshield wipers.
The factory installed ones near as I can tell work fine.
One other point given the bulk of the washer supply line is under a vented cowell will they be more prone to freezing here in the northeast and will snow freeze up the blades with snow.
I’m debating the worth it part at this point, I’m going wheeling this weekend and on longer trips this fall so we will see!
Can you do a video of the aux wires under the dash? Plenty of CZcams videos of the wires under the hood but not under the dash.
Coming soon!
Do you have a 6 month update on these? I'm interested on how they have been performing and holding up.
Not a bad idea. I have a few thoughts
Have a part number on the replacement blades yet?
I actually do not yet, I thought I saw one someplace however I can't find the post now!
Wonder if these would work on a JKU?
Hopefully checking soon!
Aloha and good 👍 evening 🌚 Matt. Very thorough on your video 📼 instructions for this product installation. Great video 📼 Matt.🤜🤛🤓💰😇🤠😎😄⛅🏡👍🎓📼🔍🔅🌟🙌👐🤲👀💪🐶🐕🤙
Love this comment ! Thank you!
I just asked my dealer to order mine - $264.60 Canadian Dollars!
Hopefully they’re worth it!
I found the wipers on my 2021 Sahara was ALWAYS freezing - hopefully for $300 Cdn these are worthy! 😂😂
That’s more than in the states, I’m very happy with mine!
@@DIRTROADCRED I actually searched “Mopar Parts Canada” and found it for 161.41 Canadian!!! (Plus tax)…..still cheaper than dealer’s price!!
That’s awesome!
Do these come stock on any new jeeps?
They do not at this time!
Do you think those wipers would fit on a Jk?
I’m thinking so, I want to double check!
I bet there is a way to make these work on the JK.
I’m thinking so!
Think they'll have one for the rear window too? Would that be as useful?
That would be interesting! Not sure if it would fit as the rear is a different blade!
@@DIRTROADCRED Yeah, I'm not sure either. Would be helpful when you have mud all up on the read window. But not as much as on the windscreen. . Great tutorial! Learned a lot about my JLUR from you! Appreciate it! 😎
Thanks for watching!! Glad to have you here!
Very cool mod. Does Mopar have a trademark on this design? Wonder if other companies will start making similar for other brands/models.
I’m not sure at this point, that’s a good question !
Mercedes were doing this years ago so I doubt it.
Interesting
@@lukewalker5111 coincidence that Mercedes and Daimler had prior affiliation? I saw a patent that maybe mentioned Mercedes after remembering their “Magic Vision Control” wipers.
My hole broke at the wiper blade right where it comes out of the Jeep. Installed it 6 months ago.
👍👍
Does it work with 2013 jk?
Going to check soon!
The way the hose comes up through the plastic trim looks a little wonky. Is it pinching or rubbing at all? It makes me think that the plastic trim would wear a groove into the hose over time.
Not pinching at all!
Will these be made for older Jeeps?
I’m going to see if they fit a jk!
Can I add these to a wj?
Possibly! Might have to work on some plumbing!
Did you ever find a part number for those replacements?
I did not!
Wow, I just came back here looking for an answer to this again.
Did you ever have any luck?
So do you just get rid of the OEM hose or just leave it there??
It’s still there in case I ever change back
@@DIRTROADCRED got em and installed them. The connector for the wiper fluid was too small so I had to swap the connector ends from the stock to the new system.
I ordered these right when they came out and the hose that goes through the shroud tore because of the sharp plastic edge. (The main reason I came to this video to see if I installed wrong in some way). Mine were all rubber hoses, no braided.
I like them!
@@DIRTROADCRED I wonder why mine weren’t braided. I loved them when they worked.
Is the 140 for one or both wipers?
The entire kit!
You think they'll work on a JK?
Going to try soon!
Anyone find replacement blades yet?
Do you still use the performance blades ?
Short answer is yes, but we have some thoughts
We talk about them in this video
czcams.com/video/CNFXam3qTUY/video.html
You at OCMD Jeep week?
Not this year! I’ve been there for the past 5 or 6!
I think this was one of the top 10 mods I did to my Jeep - BUT - the hose on the driver side rubs up against the cowling when the wiper is on and eventually will cut the line in half. This totally disables your washer system (no pressure to passenger side because of the tee) and can be dangerous. I've replaced the hose twice, and I REALLY LIKE THESE wipers. Any ideas on how to route/ keep the hose from getting cut over time?
Mine cut through also looking for the same answer, did you figure out a better way to route the drivers side?
@@richwm8975 I have not. The passenger side routes around where it doesn't cause an issue. I can't figure out a way to do the driver's side. I may try some heat-shrink tubing, but I don't think it will last.
I have two jeeps and just finished the 2nd one today with this mod. I did the first Jeep 7 months ago and it’s exactly like the one in this video part wise. The new version has much smaller hose running to the blades. I live in Utah so we don’t get a lot rain. Which version do you guys gave? Is the kit exactly like the one shown here or does it have smaller hoses going to the blades without a quick disconnect?
I bought the 2nd set yesterday and the parts guy at the Jeep dealership took my parts out of the package to check for any part numbers but found none. They have tried to call their people but got no answer. Looks like 4 replacement blades will cost us 150 buckaroos unless Jeep gets their shite together.
@@JohnSmith-sh1zgMine has a quick-connect at the wiper arm. I'll order another, or just buy new hose and figure out a better way to route/protect the hose.
@@geoexchange12 yeah it seems the newer version has a slimmer hose that is a bitch attaching to the blade side but doesn’t have a fat quick disconnect to rub.
Any idea why the dealer parts departments state that these new wiper blades don't fit a 2020 Sahara JLU 2.0? I'm thinking it's just because they don't come equipped with them. Can anybody chime in before I twist the wiper knob.
They will fit fine
@@DIRTROADCRED Thanks, order's in. Keep 'em coming brother.! 👍
Has anyone had these long enough to see if the water line at the arm bolt area rubs on the cowling too much and causes a leak?
Good question
How long is the blade..? Thinking JK RETRO-FIT…….great video. We should get the neighbor kids to line up with mud pies to throw at you as you drive by…. Then we can test those wipers..!!
LOL that would be great, I think this weekend we should see if they fit yours, they are the same sized blade as the jk!
I just want the wipers lol that say jeep
They are awesome!
I have never dropped my windshield because of that very issue
Never had that issue before suprisingly!
I have order a set to in Canada $180. Bucks
They’re nice!
Only for the jl n jt right now no jk
Correct!
노출되는 고무 부분이 블레이드 회전시 플라스틱에 간섭되 터지는 현상이 발생합니다.
😎
@@DIRTROADCRED The exposed rubber hose part interferes with the plastic when the wiper rotates.
Would these fit a JK ?😆
Going to see!
@@DIRTROADCRED it seems it should fit, if it does I will order them.
Does Susquehanna Automotive have a site where these could be ordered?
They do not at this time, if you are local you could pick up!
The replacement blades don’t have the Jeep insignia the original ones have. 🤦♂️
You’re right
@@DIRTROADCRED I installed a pair just yesterday and I can see some potential rubbing issues between the connectors at the base where you connect the hose to the lower arm. I’m thinking there maybe some trimming needed to make it more optimal. We will see with me living in a rain limited area in Utah. I have two JL wranglers but I have to wait for more stock to be available for the 2nd Jeep. 🤷♂️
So just an FYI, this kit will fit a JK no prob. Add that to the list of JK and JL parts comparability. m.czcams.com/video/ehTpntXx-iA/video.html
That's awesome news! I think we are going to try a set on my friends JK soon, maybe a video!
@@DIRTROADCRED that would be an awesome Idea! I just shot the aftermath of the install, if I'm being honest it felt like to me easier on the JK but I'm bias to the platform. Love your work currently and with previous companies keep up that fire to build and wheel Matt! You got this!
The white Jeep logo on the blades, yuck
You can barely notice them further than 5 feet away
