I can respect your opinion saying sometimes he sounds like Em or Slim. He does, cause he was one of Nate's biggest inspirations. The only issue comes when people say he's just an Eminem knockoff. Then the fans start swinging

In Mansion he said he's trapped inside, that God told him he's not locked in but that he chose to lock the door due to his fear. The theme of the keys in the Perception album is representing him realizing that he is in control and not his fear.

My interpretation of multiple keys … multiple keys for different “rooms” in his mind 🤷♀️ because as you realized, the cage is his mind. He’s gone from a Mansion to a Cage … this is also important to remember going into The Search.

There is a scene on the show The Chosen where Mathew and Phillip are having a discussion. Mathew draws a circle, he says this is the world and everything that’s ever been. He then draws a small circle outside of the world. And says this is me, this is how I feel. Phillip says Good for you, I too feel the same way. Of course I’m paraphrasing but what’s awesome about that scene is how to people view their place in the world with different perspectives. Mathew feels like he’s not apart of the world cause he feels like the world rejects him. Like he’s not accepted. While Phillip chooses to live outside of the world, an outcast. Jesus many times tells us to not be that of the world.
I think the cage represents the circle outside of the world. He chooses to live there, he has the keys to leave, but would rather stay safe from the world and be an outcast. It’s not a prison, it’s his refuge. And only a certain few are allowed in his circle.

Feedback: I dont like the new camera angle personally. The old one had it so that you looked at were the video was being portrayed. The new one doesnt and I and most humans can feel a little awkward when directly faced like this in a video (very serious). Other than that nice vid. keep it up and I hope you dont mind some feedback here and there and ofcourse please dont feel offended by this.

FINALLY!!!!!............Not offensive to say NF gives Em vibes, as long as peeps don't call him an Em clone/knock-off, because Em was huge influence to Nate. Em and NF only 2 rappers that can give me goosebumps so often; both are incredible story tellers and can bring you in. Em was my fave for 20 years......until I heard The Search and found rest of NF. NF at the top for me, silver to Em. LOVING the journey!!! #nfrealmusic

I'd LOVE to see him react to Been About It by Mineo & Lecrae. It's a bop.
The cage is the prison in the mind that is his mansion. You say it all the time, "he only lets you see what he wants you to see." In this one, he's beginning to let people into his mind by airing out his garbage (burdens) he wears.
See, he holds the keys to unlocking his mental progress in therapy, yet he's still stuck in the battles of his mind in the prison he created. This is his perception, but in "The Search" album, he literally turns this cage into a mobile prison (a shopping cart in his other videos), though he is still dragging his burdens (black balloons) with him, afraid to fully let them go out of fear of no longer being himself, or no longer being relevant and real to the concepts that made him click with others. You see people clawing at him through the prison on the outside, at concerts, they are in the cage with him cheering him on and taking pics with him when he lets them in for a short period. At the end, everyone is in the cage with him, because he let them in via the making of his music and they all embrace him for it. We are the true fans.
He didn’t open the door because he’s staying in the cage (the fear, the serious things he discusses, the pain etc) for the fans that are surrounding it.

I don’t react to songs I’ve heard before & I’ve never heard this song before. I listen & break em down so that they make sense to me. That’s why I go back so much, I actually try to understand the lyrics. I’ll take this as a compliment for understanding what NF is conveying.

My bad if someone already left this comment, but I just want to point out something that you night not of caught. The cage in this video was the same one in the background in the beginning of The Search video. I never looked up To see if my interpretation of the meaning behind the symbolism is accurate or not, but I took it a him finally leaving the box that himself and others put him in so that he can do some soul searching to find out who he really is a person, artist, or both...
Like I said though, that's just my interpretation.

You do them all in chronological order, which he is not doing. Go look through his videos, they are not in order. You are very wrong :)
