Nice vid, I've used these on older truck doors, not sure why I didn't think to do it here.
Very well done video. My only suggestion would be to tap in into the original harness a little differently that would not cause corrosion issues down the road. Looking forward to more content from you.
If you can get there proper pins you could use the connector and run the wires from there to the actuator😊

I did this mod today and it works great! My only note is that 20 inches on the wires really didn't leave me room to work - I'd recommend going longer and then trimming any excess. Stellar tutorial, and I look forward to your next one!
Great budget upgrade! but can anyone explain why tapping the camera wire can get the signal of lock/unlock??
It's using the harness that goes to the camera which has the 2 wires that would go to the lock if it was factory equipped. The body side of the connector has the wires there. The tailgate end is missing the 2 pins and corresponding wires back to the lock. Seems crazy they would source and inventory a separate harness to save 2 feet of 16ga wire. But I'm not a business genious

yes. you can continue to use the key manually to lock unlock the tailgate.
