Thank you for the information, I've watched a few of your videos around your surgery. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis w/a large multinodular goiter and have a surgery consult in a few days and am really hoping to be able to schedule my surgery pretty soon as I've been really uncomfortable/in pain at times and exhausted most of the time (I'm a dogwalker/petsitter so that's been really tough this summer). I had a partial thyroidectomy (& removal of goiter) in 2000 and I will be having the rest of my thyroid removed along with the multinodular goiter.

Yay, I’m so happy you created this video! I remember being terrified. I did not want to relive the tape but knowing doing the right things will help with the scar appearance makes me feel better 😊 I would love to hear tips on hair loss. I can’t find any helpful Videos that I can relate to. Thank you!! 🤍

Hi Jenny! To be honest, I found that hair loss just corrected itself after time (it took me 6 - 12 months) after getting your thyroid levels to normal. I hope that's helpful, sorry I don't have more information!

Thank you very much for this. I was looking for advice like this and your video is very helpful. Do you remember, by any chance, how you washed and showered after the surgery? I've been trying to do some research on the best practice and it's a bit confusing, and I am worried about doing something wrong and getting the wound infected.

Hello Reachel, I was wondering how was your mental clarity before and after operation? I am waiting for operation and I am really struggling with focusing on tasks and even remembering what I am doing. Like I can't hold all of the info in my head. I don't know if I need digital detox or a surgery 😅

Omg I love your all videos!!! I just had thyroid removed 2 weeks ago, and I was looking for a video who had same experience. Thank you sooo much for all informative you shared. I would definitely go for same steps that you had and I hope I get a light scare mark after a year. I started with applying scare gel and vitamin E lotion couple times a day and I see some good reaction with it so far but hopefully reduce later on that is what I’m hoping !!! Also thank you for giving all those nutrients tip because doctors not mentions what type of foods helps for skin care or increasing collagen intake…

Hello and thank you for your advice. I am 64 years old and I just had the Lyft side goiter 9 cm removed two weeks ago, that was about the size of a navel orange. my surgeon never told me about what I should focus on eating and they said that I do not need any medication after surgery, but I need to have my lab work in about a month after the surgery. I’m new to this, but now that two weeks has passed. I still have a lump on the bottom of my throat pretty much right by my five inches incision. Is it too early for that lump to go away? Is it normal to have that lump? I am not sure. Please let me know whenever you have a chance. Thanks

I've got a surgical drain in my neck. I read that it's not all that common to have a drain after this surgery. I also had two parathyroid glands removed. Initially my surgery was only to remove hyperplasic parathyroid glands but the surgeon had to take the left lobe of my thyroid. The itchiness drives me half out of my mind! I'm on day 4 post op. As for eating, you mention chicken and turkey. Why not beef? It's the easiest thing I can eat as far as protein and it has much more nutritional value than chicken breast.

Just had my surgery two weeks ago. It was pretty invasive. The left side especially is still quite sensitive and the bandage is allowed to get wet now. As it is lifting I'm cutting away that section. It is pretty red and nasty looking. Should I be worried?

@@bethkendi5157 I will try to answer for you because they have not.
I had mine out for 16 or so years.
I had some weight gain but you just have to work a little harder to keep it off. But I didn't try at all. That might be why I gained. It was my fault and I have a sit down job. That didn't help.
There are side effects with meds.
You can look them up. I'm in my 60 now I'm just starting to have heat related problems. Sweating a lot.
I can't take heat as wel feeling weak and need to sit down.l. But where I live the humidity is extremely high as much as 200 percent. Which makes it even harder. So I don't know if it's the medicine, the humidity or both.
But I just looked up all the side effects of levothyroxine. Like I said, only affected me this year.
But in the past I've had absolutely No Issues. I have a great Doctor she is very thorough with blood work. I hope this helps some. But Google and learn. It isn't hard to deal with at all for me. Other than the heat and perspiring...
      Good luck to you. 😉

My thyroid decided to grow down and into my chest 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have not found anyone that has this same issue. My surgery is Dec 7th to remove thyroid along with the growths that are below my thyroid and in my chest. They hope they don’t have to crack my chest open. I will also have a drain put in 🤢, my labs were always normal. I was having a lot of shortness of breath and palpitations, which led them to check my chest. im terrified of this particular surgery, I feel like they are going to carve me out like a pumpkin 😩. Your video has been helpful and has eased my fears a bit. Anything I can do to prep before surgery?

Luz, I'm having surgery myself on the 1st of December. I'm dealing with shortness of breathe, nodules pressing on my esophogus, coughing, wheezing, and choking. Have you watched any video's on thyroid surgery from Dr. Rashmi Roy, Senior Surgeon at the Clayman Thyroid Center & Hospital for Endocrine Surgery? She's had several patients where their doctors have said they'd have to go through the chest. Those patients watched Dr Rashmi Roy's videos, and talked to her to have an evaluation. Dr Rashmi Roy was able to do their surgeries to help them without cracking their chest open. I've watched all Dr Rashmi Roy's videos. I live in Oklahoma, used the information obtained from these videos to interview, and find a surgeon near me. The surgeon I found is the Director of Endocrine Surgery in my area specializing in general surgery, parathyroid, thyroid surgery, and skin surgery.
Through my research (use of videos, reading medical articles, and patient testimonies) I've learned to select a surgeon who has done many surgeries, more than 25 in a month specifically on the thyroid. A doctor who will do minimally invasive surgeries, and use local anesthesia which will make for faster recovery time from surgery. My reason for mentioning all this information is to be informative, not to scare you.
