Hi very informative video i take syntroid 137 mcg but im not feeling my best lately i was doing much better a few months back on 150 mcg may i ask what is your actual dose and have you tried another brand other than syntriod? I will much appriciate your answer Thanks!
I feel like my hospital would not let me spend the night, but I feel like I would need to, but I know they probably just send me home right after they dug around in my throat. I watched a video of them performing this surgery and there's a lot of blood. Actually pretty intense, even though it's probably a very common and simple surgery.
Tomorrow is my parathyroid surgery. Your tips are great.
I envy your voice😂😂 I m(25) sound like Batman and it’s been over a week since my thyroidectomy
What type of vitamin e oil and sunscreen did you use? I’m have partial removal done on Tuesday just want to prepare myself.
Whatever brands you trust! I like Aveeno and other more natural brands for sunscreen. Vit E I ended up just using the brand from our local pharmacy/CVS!
Did you removed the tape around your scar or did it pill by its self with washing?
I think I cover this in another video and to be honest can't remember exactly, but I know I waited a long time for it to peel up on its own! I may have taken a few off eventually because it took longer than I was told it would
Did you get cough phlegm
Not that I can recall <3
I’m on day 3 post op
For anyone and everyone having this surgery: I had it a few months ago (I was only 26). I was extreeeemely nervous and was in complete denial that it was actually going to happen. Everything went totally fine, I recovered quickly, and I feel like it went way easier then expected. You will pull through and look back on it casually just like I am now a little over 2 months later!! Also, I got on a plane to Greece 6 days after my surgery to celebrate Easter and apart from a few naps and some pain meds I was totally fine and ate my familys food like an absolute queen. YOU GOT THIS!!
Thank you for sharing information ❤
this is very helpful thank you :) my wife is getting her thyroid and 2 parathyroids removed since she got diagnosed with thyroid cancer on 6/14 of this year. plus they found a abnormal nodule on her left side of the neck so it will determine if she has to have a 4 hour or 7-hour surgery and surgery will be sometime this month or next month
Best of luck to you and her, she will need lots of love and support!
thank you! your videos helped me a lot with my thyroidectomy. God bless
Thank you very much for this. I was looking for advice like this and your video is very helpful. Do you remember, by any chance, how you washed and showered after the surgery? I've been trying to do some research on the best practice and it's a bit confusing, and I am worried about doing something wrong and getting the wound infected.
Thank you for your video. Kindly make a video now that after 3 years, how you feel 🙏🙏🙏

Can thyroid levels be normal and still experience symptoms? I had total thyroidectomy 8 days ago. Levels plummeted to 7.3. 9.1 two days ago but still numbness especially in feet. Taking calcium carbonate and calcitrol
I had a total thyroidectomy June 21. Multinodular substernal goiter. Experiencing low calcium Getting blood rechecked in two days Two days ago calcium levels Were normal 9.1 but I still have numbness and tingling especially feet. Will it take some time for symptoms to go away even after calcium levels improve?
Hi, can i ask do you still go to hospital to monitor your fsh, t3 and t4 every month?
I had my total thyroid removed about 2 pm and went home at 5pm Had a salad to eat and just took some time to rest and ice my throat. No problem.
I am taking calcitrol 0.5 twice a day but my tingling is still there. You mentioned you take it 3 times a day? For how long more? I’m on Day 5 post op.
Really appreciate your advice. Stumbled across your channel by chance. I'm due for a full thyroidectomy next week and I'm scared. Im also hoping to try for a second child afterwards as well. Praying all goes smoothly. I discovered i had hyperthyroidism after early delivery of my first child. Appreciate your advice very much. Thankyou 🤗
If any discomfort occurs, call the nurse. Do NOT hesitate. I had my surgery almost 20 years ago. I went from feeling great to a little funky to I couldn't breathe within less than 2 minutes. I ended up with a 2nd emergency surgery. Do not hesitate if you feel bad or off in any way. And whether you are having a partial or complete thyroidectomy you should insist on staying over night. It's very rare for something to happen but I'm proof that it can. It's better to be prepared.
Can we teach properly after thyroid removal?
I removed mine in full 22 years ago.
Im happy I found this! Had my 2nd lobe out yesterday, and the surgeon couldn't remove it through the same scar. Now, I will have two. I will try your suggestions in a few weeks! I can't see yours at all 😊 Thank you so much ❤ God bless you!
Hi Rachel. I REEEAALLLYY appreciate your video. It was the first REAL video of the surgery and it was totally helpful and reassuring. I actually have a goiter 11cm so it really has affected a lot of things in my body. It’s so big that it’s pushing my trachea. So I have all the symptoms: hard time swallowing, breathing is not that bad. But I notice it’s compressing some nerves cause the pains I’m getting in my arm, chest, and legs. Pretty much the right side. I have my surgery the ending of July but I don’t know if I’m able to wait that long, but I’m afraid that’s the earliest the doctor got! But hopefully my surgery goes smoothly and hope that my body can hold on longer til I get the surgery. And I have low tolerance for pain, so what you described I hope is not as bad. 😳😢 but thank you for the detailed experience because it makes me feel a little more at ease for when I get mine. 😊😊
Thanks for this. Just found out today that I need a complete Thyroidectomy. Your video is extremely helpful. 💜
How’s your Trab/tsi level after total thyroidectomy? Did it become undetectable?
I am booked in for thyroidectomy due to Graves . I also have TED and need surgery for that too as have constant double vision . I’m still contemplating declining surgery and staying on ATD long term .. I’m so anxious and worried that taking levo for life will make me fat , bone loss and fatigue . There are risks with ATD too .. how are you now as it’s been a while since your surgery ?
Did you stay overnight in the hospital? Thanks
From what I know, for full thyroidectomy, you have to stay overnight as calcium level would have to be monitored after surgery.
I am Nisha sixteen years old girl . I had goitre with hyperthyroidism for past 7 years i recently had surgery ( total thyroidectomy) on 11th may 2024 i am slowly getting improved but my voice still sounds like sore throat my doctor say that it will take time to recover.pls advice if it is normal or should i go for any other consultation or treatment
Wow! I didn't see your scar on your neck.👍👍👍
Super helpful! Thank you
Any brand name of Calcium you would recommend? Is calcium with K-2 is also good? Thanks.
Hello and thank you for your advice. I am 64 years old and I just had the Lyft side goiter 9 cm removed two weeks ago, that was about the size of a navel orange. my surgeon never told me about what I should focus on eating and they said that I do not need any medication after surgery, but I need to have my lab work in about a month after the surgery. I’m new to this, but now that two weeks has passed. I still have a lump on the bottom of my throat pretty much right by my five inches incision. Is it too early for that lump to go away? Is it normal to have that lump? I am not sure. Please let me know whenever you have a chance. Thanks
Thanks for the update this really helps me to get prepared for my surgery.
They sent me home after 4 hours, why did you have to spend the night
It was the surgeon's preference.
There are actually no articles that deal with the treatment of this Thyroid fatigue. This fatigue is not the type that is cured by sleep. Studies do indicate that improvement over time however there is a significant percent that do not improve up to 4 years. These studies indicate that all the patients hormone levels are within normal limits and the fatigue is caused by you having your Thyroid removed and no other factors. Unfortunately this is my case.1 year post total thyroidectomy. Please discuss with your surgeon the quality of life issues related to your surgery prior to having it. There may be other ways to deal with your condition that does not involve the total removal of your Thyroid. The studies concluded that doctors should discuss QOL with their patients and consider doing fewer TT's as a result. QOL was not discussed with me. Many doctors take a nonchalant approach and just say that the difference in your quality of life will be just taking a pill daily. This is not the case in a large percent of TT patients! Ask a lot of questions on this subject.
I’m supposed to have a TT this Thursday. I tried asking questions but my surgeon just told me all u need to do is take the supplements… I’m a 33 year old single mom with 2 kiddos one with severe disabilities. Not sure if I should go through with it. It’s not cancerous just really big and deviating into my vocal cord
im so scared im only 19 and im having this surgery soon but this video helped me 😭

I was diagnosed with Graves disease in 2021. Was starting to think I couldn't have kids just because it hadn't happened yet lol. Then we had a surprise pregnancy, found out while I was at the ER for a burst ovarian cyst. Miscarried at 10 weeks, blighted ovum due to Grave's, this past Sept. My endocrinologist said to definitely not try again until after definitive treatment, so I've been considering TT. You have no idea how encouraging it felt to play this video and see you holding that baby. I just burst into tears because it's like a glimpse into what my future could be. Our due date was supposed to be 04/24/24, so its been really tough lately. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. 🥹❤
oh, your story makes me tear up as well. I'm so sorry. I'm sending you lots of love. I'm so happy you have found some comfort here.

Why does your throat on both sides look really big
First time viewing your vedios, very interesting and informative.
What about internal scaring, probably involving fascial tissue, causing a choking sensation?
7 years and counting. My life has never been the same since my TT. My symptoms resemble those of ME/CFS. Endocrinologist says nothing else can be done. Functional medicine doctor has put me on supplements, and there has been some improvement. But I think I’ve reached maximum improvement.
Hi how did it go after the surgery? Doctor says im supposed to get it all removed.

Hi Rachel. My name is Debbie, I am 66 years old. And have had a goiter, for about 25 years. It has gotten bigger. I have been for ultrasounds, blood work, c.t. scans, etc. and am going to have half of my thyroid taken out soon. As it's pushing my trachea and assophogous and affecting my clavical.
Best of luck to you <3
