Ending: Chopin Waltz #2 Op. 69 If you think it looks a bit sagged again at the end, you're correct--that's because I fiddled with it before taking the end shot. But the camber technique does work.
Thanks very much for sharing. This is just what I need as I’m in the same exact situation as you were in, and am looking to have about the same effect - one continuous rod with no interruptions (or at most only one bracket in the middle). Very inspired.
NegatingSilence+ You could also steam bend a wooden dowel rod, maybe ½, ¾, ⅝ or ⅞. Or basically any metal fabrication shop, myself included, has a special roller tool designed to bend metal into any curve you want, for as long or short as you'd like. Stupidly easily. Just a suggestion so you have more rigidity and no PVC in your livingroom 🤘 Btw I dug your acoustic cover of Metallic'a Fuel! Nice job!
I'm not aware of how I'd steam-bend a dowel that long to the exact curvature required with the things I have. I was not aware that I could get a local metal shop to bend a 5/8" pipe to that radius (or how much that would cost), but if I ever get around to it, I might check. Thanks!
Not sure if this would help you for future projects, but there are spray paint cans that are specifically made for plastic. I've used a few of them successfully and it omitted the tedious task of sanding down the plastic (pvc) step. Otherwise, good job on your diy!
I used some of that on my rainbow tube project (in another video) but for whatever reason, I didn't bother to buy it for this. The pipe was fine, the metal was just a little blotchy. I'm not sure if the consistency on metal is better.
I forget. I just picked something from the bucket that fit. Screws holding the weight should not generally be the problem. If it's drywall, just put anchors in there.
In response to the guy who posted "saggin' more than my momma's titties," and then deleted the comment or something--you'll note in the description that it is sagging at the end because I fiddled with it before I took the shot and only noticed after I posted it. This video had about 30 views when and wasn't on track to get more, so re-uploading wasn't (and never will be) a priority. But the idea does work--at least, well enough--if you do it correctly. There will be a very slight sine curve, but nobody has ever noticed. If I ever bought a place that had a bay window, I'd do something more expensive.
I thought you were gunna HANG the curtains from the rod, not INTERWEAVE the curtain through the rod Also, just fitting a hook hanging down in the centre would secure the rod from drooping down.
The whole point of those massive grommets is that you put a curtain rod through them. In the case of a curved rod, the mobility and ease of sliding might slightly be increased by using rings to hang it, but I think someone watching this can easily choose that for themselves without me doing it for them. The entire point of this project is to avoid hooks that prevent you from sliding the curtain (or curtain hung by rings) anywhere on the rod. Regarding the droop, I've explained in the description and the pinned comment that the droop is not that significant (I took the final shot after bumping it out of place, which makes it look more significant). There is still *some* undulation, but it doesn't bother me, and the only time I notice it is when someone leaves a comment about it. If I ever actually own my own house, I'll improve it further and make a sequel.
Have to confess I didn't get the joke. Unless you mean you think I look young enough that it seems odd for me to be making a curtain rod, in which case that's a huge extension on my CZcams runway.
@@NegatingSilence Yeah, that was a stretch of a joke I made. You start the video off by saying, "Ok.., here's the situation". The entire video, all I could think about was DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince - "Parents Just Don't Understand." One of Will Smith's lyrics goes, "Ok, here's the situation, my parent's went away on a weeks vacation..." So, here's the good news, if you have never heard of that song in your life, you can still consider yourself nice and young, came out in 1988. Well, that might just mean that I'm old.
Great engineering - looks so amazing after painting the rod - great color curtains too! Thanks for recording and sharing.
Good job! I like your DIY project and not believe in paying big bucks while we can do it ourselves.
I have been staring at my bay windows for over a year. I am absolutely perplexed.

Good luck.
Great item to have in our weekender horse trailer!
Nice idea. You could put a hook in the middle to keep it from sagging.
I'm surprised there aren't some manufacturers that make something for this. There are lots of bay window out there
It's a reasonably custom thing depending on the curvature of the bay.
I have found some but it was hard! And still required some hacking.
Good job 👏👏
This one is really simple n easy ... very helpful thank h for uploay your idea
You can also try curtain rod adjustable corner elbow connectors on amazon
Thank you so much!

Use plastic adhesion promoter spray first, so sanding needed, brilliant fast long adhering results
What size screws did you use in the fringes? I did a similar set up with an inch and a half screws but unsure it will hold the weight.

All that smack talk with little to no results.

You did a great job. Looks very tidy. Cheers
Where can I get please
As you can see, I just made this from parts in the hardware store and it is not sold anywhere.
Very blokey

Your parents went away on a weeks vacation? Haha.
Nice video though.

@@szargos That definitely got past me. Though of course I do remember Fresh Prince.
