    Good tactics. I was a little surprised that 1. attacking the net and 2. hit a drop shot were on the list. I agree with all your points though.

    I really really like this. I will try mixing it up tomorrow. I alredy use the short angles but will add the high bounce next.

    I watched the highlights of Petra vs Ostapenko today. They both use the angle shots to get winners. The difference from them and what you said here is they were able to do it even behind baseline. Thanks for the tips. It also makes watching tennis even more fun 🙏👍🎾

      @MeikeBabelTennis  Před 2 lety +1

      And that's why they're world class ;-) For the normal player a short ball is around the service line, for them a ball is short 4 feet inside the baseline. They're just amazing players

    Thank you, Coach Meike. Many players my age hit the ball very flat or slice, and even though their shots may land short, I feel as though I am always trying to hit the ball up and down, which results in errors, or balls they can get to and counterpunch. I’ve used dropshots, slice approaches up the line, or short slices angled off the court with mixed results. Can you please help? Thank you!

    • @MeikeBabelTennis
      @MeikeBabelTennis  Před 2 lety +1

      Sounds like you need a neutralizing ball and that can be deep through the middle and then having the patience to wait for a really good opportunity to get at them.

  • @Alan-uh6pm
    @Alan-uh6pm Před 2 lety +1

    Meike, you said “don’t hit the same ball twice”, but sometimes my coach told me “be patient, be consistent, let them make mistake”, which one I should take ? 😄

    • @MeikeBabelTennis
      @MeikeBabelTennis  Před 2 lety

      Both :-) You can be patient and consistent AND vary the spin. And use angles if you give yourself the right target and do it off the right ball. To my mind, both tips are not mutually exclusive.

  • @weyman4317
    @weyman4317 Před 2 lety +1

    Perhaps the odd drop shot too?

  • @gretchenlittle6817
    @gretchenlittle6817 Před 2 lety +1

    Too many players I know just keep hitting harder when pressed. All you need to do is get a couple balls back to them, they'll eventually lose control and hit it long. I hope they don't see this video -- I like winning.
