  • selfbuild | vw crafter | campervan | bench seat bed | van build | part 21 | the crafty blinders
    Hi
    In this video I show you how I utilised a small space to give me a bench seat a single bed and a huge storage area, see how I built my bench seat frame and created the huge storage area beneath it and how it converts into a super comfortable signal bed during while trying to avoid a mental thunderstorm
    The bed size is 190cm x 65 cm and the back cushion just lifts off but I intend to change this soon so that the bed will extend side ways and allow the cushion to drop into the gap making a wider area to sleep on around 95cm the same size as single bed, as it is currently I can sleep on it comfortably but you can never have to much room,
    Thanks for watching
    Sam

    i dont want to knock you and im enjoying these , 1 of the few builds where your not just buying things and fitting them but doing a sterling job making your own .....however the comment about the table saw. seriously table saws are the most used and versatile tool used by carpenters, i appreciate its not the biggest or most solid money buys but its got potential, buy a freud blade or similar that makes a huge difference and watch some one like norm abraham or bourbon moth ,,,,,,,,,,,dont give up on it you can and it can do way more than you can dream of and quality of your work goes through the roof. also air nailers are directional , to stop the nail blowing out side ways you need to be 90 degrees to the board not in line with. brad nails are like a 2x4 in shape and they want to bend to thinner side .........epic build tho and im so knicking your unistrut idea xx

      Hi thanks for the comment I did buy and try multiple blades and tried to persevere with it but my love affair with the table saw was short lived it now I a much stronger relationship with someone else 😁

    Hey Sam, I’m going back through old vids mate to work out some sizes for my build. I’ve seen in the comments the depth of the seat is 650 think you said but not sure on the length and seating height, what’s yours ?. I’m looking to make a pull out like you mentioned too but mainly as a double foot rest than extension for a bed 👍🏼 cheers

      Hi sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, but it's been a busy couple of weeks and i didnt want to just guess
      Length= 1490mm we have only gone as far as the B pillar, so we have a small void between the driver's seat and the bench seat where we store little things
      Width= 630mm
      Height= 400mm
      hope this helps you with your build if you have and more question give me a shout on our face book page as well
