    Why were we so mad about losing. America has hosted more times than any other country. Give other cities a chance

    There were many, many Chicagoans who were very happy about this.

      Absolutely, and I was one of them. I remember during the news coverage for this not one single media outlet mentioned that there were protests over how much the Olympics would drive the city into (further) debt, displace thousands of low income families to renovate for stadiums, and open the city for a large event it was not equipped to handle. Many of the people who were fervent supporters did not even live in Chicago itself, rather in its suburbs that would be unaffected by the fallout.
      Obama and Oprah are adored in Chicago, but during this whole Olympic bid, Chicagoans generally did not agree with them.

    The committee snubbed Chicago on purpose because of the television broadcast rights disputes. They took it out on the USA bid. It wouldn’t have mattered who the bid city was.

    In hindsight, Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Legacy was completely nonexistant with many venues now unused. Chicago, is this what you want? You should really thank the IOC for making the decision they made.

    What’s the use of them building so much hope thinking they are gonna win?? Always keep your hopes down because it could go the wrong way

    How uninformed the American Press is about this process. There is no one vote per nation. IOC voting members for choosing an olympic host are note because of nations they come from . USA and Canada have two members each . Some countries have none. History has shown that it took 100 years of Summer Games until America was awarded via a vote for Atlanta 96' . A typical return to any place is 50 years plus. US has lost more times for these things that some continents combined attempts.

      Paul Taylor a hundred years? No that’s false. USA was actually the third city to host since the modern games began. St. Louis hosted in 1904. Los Angeles hosted 1932 and again in 1984. America has hosted the summer games more than another country

      @Natalia not an excuse. you can search it up on wikipedia, the "Bids for the Olympic Games". en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bids_for_Olympic_Games

    • @vynzznyv
      @vynzznyv Před 4 lety

      @Natalia America first won the rights to host for the Olympic Games was in 1904 when it was awarded to Chicago, but was moved to St. Louis as also part of the World's Fair. The most recent hosting of USA was in 2002 Winter Olympic Games when Salt Lake City bribed the IOC. Yes, im saying bribed. The next hosting of USA will be in 2028 when Los Angeles will host for the third time (1932,1984,2028)

    • @vynzznyv
      @vynzznyv Před 4 lety

      @Natalia on en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_Games_host_cities , you can see that USA is ranked 1st on numbers of nations that have hosted. There's no biased situation there.

      What crying? We Americans are laughing! Hosting the Olympics would have been a drain on Chicago's economy. The Windy City saved a fortune due to being snubbed by the IOC. Do you realize that the 2016 Olympics saddled Rio De Janiero with $2B in debt?

    I bet the IOC hella regrets that decision given RIO’s infrastructure, political climate, safety & economic status. I mean RIO’s bid and idea was all great and all but the IOC had bad publicity for that one lol
