Yeah if only they'd add proper anti-cheat asap. You'd think they could afford a few more devs lol. They don't even have that many :)
You forgot the steam community market where people sell their cases. The bigger price on the case, the more valve makes on there too.

Its alot, but u have to take in to acc. that they have to pay the skin-designer as well. They get a big cut to. So its not 1b dollers in pure profit. They do make alot of money on the system, that they have set in place, so its not an excuse. They do also put money in to the majors as well + alot of work and man power in to it.
CS is not even Valves main game, even if its the most profitable game. They have other games like Dota, witch Gaben have sayed they focus more on then CS. :D

Skin designers get paid crumbs compared to what valve makes off of it. If I remember correctly the designer of the Anubis collection signed all of his skins away for $14,000USD no residuals.

Yeah that unfortunately feels like a trend, not just for CS and Valve, but for gaming and other whole industries as well :(
