    One modification I'd recommend to this setup: Cover the outside of the main pipe, and the metal air box with DEI Thermal wrap. You'll keep you charge a bit cooler, and it'll help with power.

      Unfortunately I sold this car for a new one so I can’t get any new sound clips. But it does sound very aggressive with just a muffler and resonator delete.

  • @QuestionRealityStreetcars

    Yeah I added one of these and listed it in the KMD Alliance and had a lot of haters that group is so toxic now in days it's not even worth being in, but regardless my ram intake with a heat shield I got off Amazon I gain 3hp and car sounds better. My only question and I feel dumb asking would getting a longer filter help or hurt the car I hot a 5 inch cone right now and it looks short in there lol

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah some people in those groups can be pretty mean lol hmm I’m not sure a longer filter would really make a difference, it’s more about the actual intake length and keeping the filter clean.

    Question: is that throttle body spacer installed correctly? I believe the manufacturer recommends to install it with the o-ring towards the throttle, and the ridge facing upwards towards the hood. Looks to me that your is installed with the ridge facing towards the back, facing the acces holes for potential nitrous oxide upgrade to the top and bottom. Does this make a difference? I’m assuming the manufacturer went through the trouble of engineering the ridge for a specific reason, to prevent the part from being installed incorrectly.

    So question for you...2 questions since we have the same engine. Question 1: what are the 2 little hoses for on your k&n cold filter? Question 2: Do you know where the Mass Airflow Senor is located?

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  Před 3 lety +1

      Those are vacuum lines. They basically help keep the engine running by supplying air to other parts of the engine than just the intake manifold. Unfortunately I don’t know where the mass airflow sensor is but you can probably pull up an engine diagram pretty easy on Google and locate it.

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  Před 2 lety +1

      No, I don’t believe this one will fit a Cadenza. I’m not really seeing many options out there for that car, you may have to DIY an intake for yourself. What a lot of people do is take off the stock air box and put a cone filter on that end. AutoZone has a couple different size filters from Spectre I believe so that would probably be a good start.

    Back when I was more into cars (been in a long Jeep phase) I came to be under the impression these short ram intakes don't do very much. Now I have a new 2015 SX Turbo and I am relearning a lot. Would this intake be a good way to dip my toes I to modifying my Optima?

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah this would be a good place to start and that’s pretty true about the intakes. If you aren’t tuning the engine to maximize power with the increased airflow you’re not really going to get much out of it which sucks for me because not really anyone tunes the 2.4L engines. However the turbo engines are quite popular so you could find a tune to capitalize on the intake pretty easily. I would check out Lap3 tunes if you’re interested in that type of stuff.

      @@tajmir9 if you’re in an Optima with a turbo check out Lap3 or JB4 for a tune. If not there isn’t a whole bunch you can add to make the car much faster. A cold air intake and throttle response controller will get you some quickness though.

      I’m not certain this exact one will fit but I’m pretty sure I saw one on the k&n website for a ‘18 2.4L

      @@Jose-cc9yj yeah mine is the 2019 2.4L non-turbo, it took about a week and a half I believe.

      @@KDMCurt cool thanks man, I'm considering buying this one from the link you shared, do you think they're a legit sight? Cuz I ordered one but I had to cancel cuz the company changed the date on me, I ordered it Jan. 1st and they said it'll arrive in march then they said April then May lol

      @@Jose-cc9yj K&N is definitely legit, they are probably the most well known name around the world when it comes to intakes and filters. Check their site before you order though there may be a different intake for the 2018/2019, it should tell you at the top of the website when you’re looking.
