I love seeing other people’s “real” homes (not super staged, etc). Thanks for sharing! Your apartment has such a personal, inviting feeling.
Same, most youtubers rent mansions so people think they are rich.
I was just thinking this! It is so real and adorable
Yo, YES. Real homes
this is very representative of a real nyc apt, not one of the youtubers spending 3k/mo of their parents money on soho studio with sponsored furnishings. thank you for being real!
Exactly!! New York is awful. I’m very happy to be moving up and moving out, Its absurd how much they’re charging us to pay to live in a sardine can.
@@sashakholodovsky4930 : I see the sardine can ! How true ! What a realistic image ! Thank you !
Agreed, I can’t stop watching of late , some sound huge $. I didn’t know how much money utubers get ! Some get loads. I live in London but always been obsessed with NY and this home has a real natural home vibe , it’s not all about the cost and the best furniture , for me it’s like how this lady has made it exactly how she wants and she is happy .
This is the first of these apartment tours that actually look realistic.
Finally someone shows their normal, personal and more original, not the typical white-grey-pink designed apartment. I've been looking for this type of videos for ages
Maybe a white curtain at the closet, so there isn't any visual noise of seeing the clothing.
Visual noise? That is an oxymoron statement.
tigermoon44 visual noise is a real concept
Jennifer Wright I agree.
Jennifer Wright there are also fabric accordion blinds that open and close with a light touch on the bottom.
Also a little visual noise under that daybed. I would use a type of tailored bed skirt or a cover that closes up that space
I think it's a lovely apartment!!!! I am amazed at how some people criticise this video, the lady is sharing how happy she is with her place and then the criticism starts!! It's HER place .... not yours, i.e. this video is not about you it's about HER!! ;-)
Poppedijon1951: You are right. My apologies. I don't think anything was said to dampen her happiness
Her apartment is very cute, & it was sweet of her to show us and ask for suggestions.
I'm not really seeing criticism...she ASKED for opinions and ideas, so that's what people are giving.
Poppedijn1951 People really are the pits. the lady shows her home and all she gets is should do this, don't do that and are so damn rude they don't even thank her for showing them her home. It is no wonder I prefer animals
@@skygazer6898 Re-read your comment. It comes off just as negative and nasty as the people you're complaining about. I don't see the person who made the video whinging about the comments.
Poppedijn1951 and she is living in a great city
You have furnished and decorated your house beautifully.
If you put a large mirror on that wall it will reflect more light into your apartment and make it look larger. I would then add a baker's rack or small kitchen island. You can setup a tea/coffee/snacks area there.
I agree about the mirror!!
Maybe a big mirror with a nice frame may give the illusion of more space, apart from decorating. Congrats for the way you succeeded in organanizing your place. It all looks very nice :)
Add to the wall -an oversized picture of a window (maybe even one with billowing curtains)
Felicitas G. Blesa great idea about a mirror!! Then the place will look bigger!!greatidea
My father’s living area was so dark and “close.” I bought four cheap full-length mirrors, started at the baseboard and hung them horizontally, put a single strip of leftover moulding down the center with double-sided tape and finished with shear tie-backs. Looks like a huge, eight pane window/French door!
I learned this from my mother.......its nothing better than a big mirror 2 give your apartment an illusion of being more spacious
T
Nice. I agree with Emma Emerson, change those cardboard boxes under your coffee table into some wicker baskets, something like that.
She can cover up in fabric too. It takes a little time and handwork, but i love the results
Or use a solid or patterned, in your color scheme, contact paper on the cardboard boxes..???
Those and the plastic tub next to the arm chair should be switched. Maybe use a trunk instead of the plastic bin. Although it might be a cat box.
Make them into rope baskets.
Here is a tutorial on how to turn the boxes and plastic crate into a rope basket/container:

I love how you’ve made this space look so cozy and welcoming! Has a cottage feel 💛 I was watching a video of a 3 million dollar penthouse right befor your’s and I stopped in the middle, it was way too big and cold and unpersonal for me. And then your video popped up, what a different feeling. Congratulations!
That is crazy! My mortgage for a 5 bedroom, 2 bath house with garage on a 1/4 acre of land is $1280/month. Omg that’s crazy!
It is Crazy! huh!
I noticed she has no TV that's a lot of rent 4 that small of a space
@@rosehill2317 I don’t have TV either. I use my iPad or computer.
Iowa??
But this is in the city. Totally different prices. I'm in Finland, in Helsinki but 20 min away by subway(40min by car) I'm looking for a small oneroom apartment in the center-area of Helsinki and I will pay as much in rent as I now pay for a three-room apartment...
It is nice of you to share your apartment and even tell us how much you pay. People are curious about how others live.
That's Alot of money for that space...i would have to do 3jobs too keep a roof over my head

Yes I agree!!!
@@davidhenderson8016 $1,2 ish??
That's a mortgage for a house & electric bill.
Evangelist Mary Pillow yea bet you don’t live in NY or Cali
I'm the one that stares into strangers' windows when walking by. Not a peeping Tom, just curious
I never would have thought to remove a closet door! You are so right - the door takes up space to open and close. Great job on this! You get some natural light, too
Curtains are a good option too.
Love the apartment. Great use of space. Maybe a padded bench in the blank space by the door? It would be multi-use as a place to put on shoes, extra guest seating or even to pull out the table for a small dinner party. Also, you could store things under it in baskets. A nice big mirror over it would add light to reflect into the kitchen area and serve as a final out-the-door look in the mirror. Enjoy your space, whatever you do.
Beautiful. You did an amazing job!
More is not always better. You gave your place just the right touch. I wouldn't change a thing, well maybe a mirror in the space on the wall but that's it. Great job!
Does it make anyone else nervous that she left her front door open.?!? Hehe
It sure does!
Must be a very safe block. I'm pleased for her.
Probably security entry, no problem.
YESSSS! I was like close the door close the door close the door.....
I wasn't worried about security; I was worried about pests!
Wow I'm really impressed with how you fit all of that and made zones in such a small place. Great job!
Beautiful! You have beautiful wood floors. Not cluttered but very functional. You are very talented! Love the table cloth!
Cute sunny apartment and well decorated. Love how you made sure everything has it's space.
This reminds me of when I lived in a studio. It was a great time honestly, and being in a space that is just yours and sized just for you is very satisfying. I love how you have decorated your apt and how much it fits you.
The bare wall in the entry way you could use a big mirror
Trisha B. I was just going to say a mirror too lol it supposedly makes the room appear bigger.
Mirror would be great there! Nice place. Luv your 💐🌺🌸
Yes definitely a mirror
Trisha B. Great idea
Mirror & wall hanging Coat Rack?
You have done an amazing job with the space you have! It’s cheerful, inviting, and homey without seeming cluttered. I think you found a good balance, and you could have many warm memories around that home!
I love how you have done this space. Dividing the living area space into a living room and a bedroom by using the two windows to define them is clever. Well done and colorful, not the slick modern colorless apartment so common nowadays.
Cool to see a real apartment put together by someone who is obviously on a budget. I'd say replacing the Rubbermaid totes and cardboard boxes with some kind of "real" furniture would improve the look, but who am I to talk. This is how people on a budget manage and I'm sure it's a work in progress. I'm glad you have a home you like.
maybe a cabinet table thing so you can use as a table and storage
Yes! I am on a budget. Thank-you for sharing.
I covered boxes with rope and a glue gun, lol. It was supposed to be temporary, but it works so well I kept them. Very cheap to do, too!
Consider a loft bed! You would gain an entire new space under it! Also consider a curtain on sliding rings for your closet. I love your color scheme!
E B or a sleeper sofa...even those small sizes ones come with mattresses inside....no need of a bed in a space that small. A loft bed are the ones that you fold after you are done sleeping?
@@viggolover1 Loft beds are like bunk beds but without the bed underneath
Krystal Thompson oh! I thought we’re the ones that you fold up against the wall...I think a sleeper sofa will be better for her small space...that way she will have all that room that the bed is taking.
@@viggolover1 Lol that is true about the sofa bed. I probably would go with that, too.
Yes I was thinking the exact thing. A loft bed as high as you can & perhaps then you could make the under area a desk/office area & also be able to expand your bed to a full size for entertaining any company that you may decide you would like. Then I would slide your white room divider across & over the closet door. It would look so nice there 👍
I like seeing other people's decor in their homes.
Me too
Same
I love videos of people in homes they can afford and decorated with items that have a story.
I love how sweet and cozy your space is, it’s beautiful and very inviting! I noticed some people were shocked at the rate for rent that you pay but it’s all based on location and let me tell you, location is everything. I live in Los Angeles and pay $2,100 for 850 sq feet which is a steal here and I wouldn’t live anywhere else because I love it! I open my blinds to palm trees every morning and I can’t put a price on that ☺️❤️ thank you for sharing your home with us!
The whole time all I thought about was lock your door 😭
Why
Me too......not even a dead bolt. Just that small chain, which is a false sense of security. Most apartments in larger cities have multiple locks
@@robinbrown7953 we dont lock our doors I live in the UK in a village no need
@@dream5142 Well NY is dangerous! Here in U.S we LOCK our doors
Me too. I was nervous just by seeing that door opened. I live in Chicago and we lock our doors as soon as we walk into the house. It's a habit.
I love how each area is really defined as it’s own space. That’s seems difficult to pull off in such a small space, but you did it. I think you did a great job with the space. The kitchen is nice. I’m happy for you.
That’s what I was thinking :)
I lived in a 400sqm studio for almost two years loved it! It’s what you make of the space ❤️
I love how real this Appartment is! Good job of using the space!
Not only the apartment is great but you understand how to do a proper video tour of it. Most people manage to mess it up somehow. Good job!

I love how you have decorated with gifts from others that Stand out and have meaning to you. Your home is beautiful.
I looove how you decorated this space. Really lovely!
Have you considered a loft bed? This would give you more floor space under your sleeping area.
Great idea 💡
Great idea and when I was in college my dorm room was even smaller than this apartment. A friend had a loft she gave me when she moved in a much bigger room, which I loved because the bottom area fit my desk/chair and even a bean bag chair. I put drapes around the bottom so I could close myself in. It was so cool BUT it got old REALLY fast. Climbing up and down that ladder. I eventually started sleeping on the floor and when xmas break started, I took it down and did exactly what this young lady is doing here. LBVS
@Jenah WentVegan4Life My grandson has a loft bed. Under his bed, he has a game system and a TV to play them and his dresser for clothes. He loves his bedroom! He is 10 years old and this is perfect for him!
Michael VR There are many places to have sex. Most people don’t limit themselves to beds only. I’d never allow a tiny space to stop me. 🌸
Michael VR Did you know that beds are not the only place for having sex?!? *gasp!! It’s got to have an imagination and that way there are no limitations. Also, not everyone is sexually active.
She is living the dream. Hope when I retire i can find a NYC apt just like this - have a 1 year vacation exploring NYC.
If your dream is to live like a mouse then it'll work lol
It's not my dream but kudos if it's yours. I don't mind the small place but NYC smells so bad and when I was there I had bad vibes. Too many people and I'm an empath so I pick up on others emotions, negative or otherwise. I had terrible dreams when I visited and they didn't feel like my dreams but somebody elses.
vaskylark wow that’s fascinating, very interesting. Glad you shared that. You’re lucky you get to be in tune with your surroundings like that.

This gives me great perspective. So cute. You have a great living space.
What about hanging the kimono up on that blank wall?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree! just get a wooden dowel and two eye hooks and some ribbon. Screw the eye hooks into the wooden dowel, put up two 3M hooks like the ones you hang your jackets on, put the dowel through the sleeves of the kimono, attach the ribbon to the eye hooks and hang from the 3M hooks. Easy and cheap! AND you can put a mirror on the other side to reflect the kimono. Double perfection!
Oh yes, I was going to suggest that too!
Agree. and getting rid of that big plastic that takes up major space like the boxes under the red table (unless it is stuff that makes you money)...Cute space otherwise.
I have an antique kimono hanging on the wall. I use a bamboo pole through the arms so that the whole kimono can be seen. Great colors and soothing to look at.
add a big mirror to the blank wall in the entryway...it will help the space look bigger...nice decor....thanks for sharing
Janet Velazquez full length light weight mirror on the closet door, using command strips will camouflage the door and be practical.
I agree..do a big mirror.. you've done a wonderful job...
But the salaries are much higher in NYC.
They look real - well arranged apartment, you’ve got everything and it’s not cluttered- amazing 👏🏻👏🏻well done

I would definitely store your purse away from door maybe around the corner where u hang your coat. You did a great job with the space you used have.
I thought that 2
I said same thing
Sameeeeww
Yup, I thought the same thing and I don't even own a purse! LOL Someone could have snatched her purse while she was doing her video as she left the door open. That kinda scared me a little bit. It's NYC--ALWAYS lock your door ALL THE TIME! Yes, I am shouting! It's too important not to! 🤣
I think you did a great job! I love the furniture, flowers and the bathroom :). I love your interest in other countries and respect of your family's things and gifts. Your apt. is lovely :) It is comforting and welcoming. Thank you for sharing.
Maggie Caden yeah, I may your taste and how you like to live; what surprises me is that later you complain why you can not get a decent man

Wow! Only $1,250 for a Manhattan studio with a bathtub and full kitchen??? Great find!!! Love the seating area and the dining area. Perhaps a free-standing 6" deep bookcase instead of the sleep area divider screen? (Books facing the seating area). Mirror on the blank entry wall, nothing in the empty entry space. The wall in the entryway can remain empty, but that blank wall between the loveseat and the easy chair is dying of loneliness! It needs just a splash of color.
I mean, she is no minimalist, but this apartment isn’t really cluttered either. Not really sure what you are seeing as there seems to be a balance between her filling spaces but still plenty of flow to walk through freely.
Oh you dont know. I've live in NYC for 4 years now and these apartments tend to be cramped with things bc people pack them with so many things they acquire over the years. People dont easily move bc rent keeps going up and you have to pay 1 month rent, 1 month deposit and 1 and a half commission to the broker plus application fees. I ended up paying 4,700 for a 1br. But it was in the bronx and 5 times bigger than Manhattan apartments.

Beautiful job!!! So many people cannot fathom living in such a teeny space; however, when you get right down to it, most of us only us 3 basic areas of our houses anyway....Bathroom, kitchen/dining area & Living area. And you have demonstrated that amazingly well! Take care & God bless! 😊
Melinda Gandy for me it’s Kitchen, bathroom and bedroom
Most people in houses use only a fraction of the space regularly. There have been studies about it. The American ideal of space for the sake of space is a joke. When my family moved to a larger home when I was a kid, there was an entire living area that we never so much as walked through. It hardly even got vacuumed.
Needless to say, I am extreme about living in small spaces now as an adult. There's no need to pay for unnecessary space.
