Cute dress.
So here's a quick gathering tip: take a roll of fishing line and zigzag over it using a big stitch. Pull the fishing line until you get the gathers you want. Secure the gathers then but the fishing line. Perfect gathers every time! And you don't have to worry about breaking the gathering "thread".
Thank You. This is a great tip. I'm sure its not well know but it should be.
Thank you! I will try it👍🏾
Great tip!
What a great idea!!! Thank you.
Even without fishing line, a wide zigzag with sturdy thread, and pulling the bobbin thread is a good method.
O.M.G!!!! MY BEAU IS A SIZE 2X, AND I'M A SMALL. I WILL BE USING A FEW OF HIS T-SHIRTS/SHIRTS TO MAKE ME A COUPLE OF THESE DRESSES!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THEM!!! 😍
I tell you, i don't sew garments nor do i do quilts. i Design and Create canvas tote bags and acessories (CHASSIEDOT CREATIONS, LLC) BUT, i love looking at your channel! you give me inspiration and joy and you are just so much fun to watch and you juice me up in getting my day ready for my bag sewing! so i got my eye on you gurl! KEEP IT UP AND KEEP ON "SLAYING FABULOUS!" LOVE YOU GIRLIE!
I like your design and I like how you not only explained how to make the dress but also the design elements. Really enjoyed all the personality in your video!
Thanks so much! 🙏🏾
I know one thing Angelina Sweetie, you cut REAL GOOD! your cutting is precise, nice and straight! Hunny, it's the rotary cutter for me and a quilting ruler! lol! i can't cut a straight line to save my life! lol!
Hunny! that machine (as expensive as it is) should be talking like Tiffany Haddish, "UH HUNNY, MY TOP STICTH IS STUCK! FIX ME! UNHINGE ME NOW, SISTA, SO I CAN WORK!!"LOL!
I have followed you for years. I have grown as sewer with you!!! Thank you
I’m so glad 🥰 Thank you for watching and supporting over the years!
This would be a cute way to add some extra cuteness to a cut off sweatshirt using a flannel shirt for the bottom. Love everything you do! One of my favorite CZcamsrs. ☺️
Thanks so much! 🙏🏾
Love it. Like the way you talked your way through the machine behaving badly instead of editing. Sign of a true pro 👍🏾
I appreciate that!
Great idea-- I'm gonna steal some shirts from my hubby! Thanks for your humor-- it always makes my day. xxoo
Watch out hubby! 😄
This came out really cute on you and another good way of changing up a look of a men's button up shirt. Darn machine just showing out. lol! Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
Mama always used two rows of gathering stitches because they made a more ‘stable’ set of gathers. You still gathered them simultaneously.
Very cute dress!
20 minutes, you have my attention! Lol😊
Yup, I needed something quick this week.
This is just darling. I love a cute peplan (sp?) top! This lady of 75 may not wear a dress like this, but if it was a long tunic type top with the ruffle at the bottom... bam!
I saw a lady on Instagram with pants under a dress like this. It was so cute!
"you clowning" 😂
Great idea. I'm gonna use this idea to add skirts to some shirts. Very cool idea.
Oh yeah. I like the idea of adding skirts to the bottom. I did that once years ago and forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder😀
😆 It was! That’s a great idea. 💡
So glad I could not sleep and found your channel!
This is sooooo 90s! I love it!
Thanks! 💕
This was a good idea doing ruffle dress all the procedure.🙏
Thank you 💕
As I said, you're amazing and getting better and better and better.
Thank you 💕
Really cute minus the prepping 20 min exact. Keeping the pocket on the ruffle was super unique
Yayyy, so glad you tried it!
Cute. Takes me back to my Catholic school uniform days. It’s timeless.
Yes, I only wish my middle school uniforms were this cute. We just wore blue skirts and white blouses. 🙁
@@BlueprintDIY I remember those in Chicago. Ours were a little cuter. Actually, I’ve seen plaid skirts recently with the pattern we had junior and senior year of high school
You teach so easily. Brilliant. Thank you so much.
Thank you 💕
I am in love with this dress ! 😁
I'm excited for the fall runway review. Alot of fashion nowadays is looking upcycled.
I've noticed too that they are doing a lot of upcycled looks on the fall runways.
It is! Makes watching the shows more interesting.
Such a cute and easy idea. Realllly liked this teaching in 20!
Thank you 💕
GOOD MORNING!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!! Planning to make this dress. Keep up the good work!!!! Have a wonderful day 😊 Robin Clayborne
Good morning Robin! Yayyy, I’d love to see it!
Super cute!!! 😃🤩😍 love the two fabrics together ❤️
Thank you 💕
I enjoyed your dancing too.💯☕
Im cutting my shirt in a minutes.
😆 Yayyy!
Amazing Angelina 🤩🤩🤩, very cute and easy to sew, you look like a schoolgirl….love from France 🇫🇷🥰
Yes, this has me feeling like a giddy school girl. 😆
It's the dance moves for me ;)
So adorable ❤️💜❤️💜❤️
Love the dress - so unique! (Also, I find it comforting that even YOUR sewing machine can be moody, too! 😆)
Yes, she gets real moody sometimes 😆
How easy way to make an amazing dress from two shirts! Soo feminine!
Your natural unmade up face and skin are SO PRETTY. Just wanted to let you know, that glam or natural you are just as fly as your tutorials 😍
Bless you 🙏🏾🥰
I see this dress and for me, I would like it better sleeveless and more formfitting. I saved this video and I will try making it that way.
Thank you for not only sharing this cute dress idea but also sharing the sewing machine fail. If a clear pro like you can have a machine hiccup, it makes a novice like me feel so much less discouraged when mine nuts up.
Yes, unfortunately no matter how long you sew you still have to deal with crazy acting sewing machines. 😆
Great idea. You could save a little sewing time on the bottom: un-button both bits and re-button to each other.
Cute dress and love the lipstick.
Thanks ☺️
I love this dress soooooo much.
Thank you 💕
So cute. Loved the modeling.
Thank you 💕
💚 it! For the Fall would love to see what you do w/blazers, more plaids, jogging pants, & oddly denim; overalls & jeans! 🥰
Sounds like a good playlist!
I love it comfy and fresh good for quick runs or long travels
YES!
Yup, I wore it out shopping on Friday. ☺️
Super cute Queen. I love this light and fluffy dress 👗.
Thank you 💕
Thank you for your excellents ideas ❤❤❤😊
You are a genius!!! Love your work.
Thank you 💕
Has any brand recruited you to design or collab with them? I love everything you make wayyyy better than anything I’ve seen from a lot of these brands honestly. You are a gem! Thank you for showing us how to make real fashionable and super versatile pieces!!!
Thanks so much! 🙏🏾 That would be awesome to design for a brand.
This is uber cute and very simple!!
Thank you 💕
You are brilliant!...Such a cute cute dress!...🧵🪡

This is the up cycle I've been looking for! I'm going to need dresses I can nurse my baby in this fall and this fits the bill- thank you!
Oh yeah, it’s great for that!
I love it. I also love your lipstick.
Thanks! This is the lipstick. amzn.to/3TG6CUd
Wow that's so cute thank you for sharing
Thank you 💕
Loved the outcome
Thank you 💕
Greetings This is going to be my 1st thing I’m going to make this week, will show oh my days here we go I’m putting it out there
You got this 💕
Instead of fishing line I use dental floss zig zag. Two rows as well. I would use a french seam also.
Love the video. One of the best sewing video's around plus I especially like where your machine goes wrong as happens all the time to me. Makes it more normal to see it happen to the professionals too
Yesss, these machines won’t let us be great!
Good morning Angelina, great to see you! I’m still watching your video but I just wanted to say hello!!! Judy
Hey Judy! Always good to hear from you. I hope all is well.
I’ve been wearing drop waist dresses since I was 15 and it’s true…very flattering on all shapes and ages! Love this tutorial and looking forward to making my own up cycles like this one! 🙂
Yayyy, thanks!
I did something similar to make a "house dress" to wear in the hot summer days of over 100 degrees. Cut off short sleeves to make sleeveless, cut collar off on men's shirt and then cut further to make a V-neck. I learned to make sure the men's shirts button in same direction for top and bottom pcs. Obviously, I made it longer, and in the 2nd one used some cotton fabric I had in my stash to do that. It is so hard to find these classic "house dresses" at retail and if you do find them they are not designed for super hot days at any reasonable price. Men's cotton shirts to the rescue!!!!
You’re right. That’s awesome!
I've been sewing for a long long time ... and, I learned a few tricks! That's always fun!
Yayyy! Thank you 💕
Thank you for sharing!I have always liked drop-waist dresses and large shirts, so, “win-win” except they flatter your figure better than mine,🤓. Upcycling is great for all!
Looks sooo cool 😎 n comfy too ...yeeesss!!! X
It is! Thanks 😊
As usual, super cute.
Thank you 💕
Love this look
Thanks so much!
Adorable.
Beautiful! Looks good on you as always! Why aren’t you a model?
Aww, thanks! ☺️
Would love to see an easy way to make a poncho 🤗
Another hint on gathers I stop and start my gathering threads at the seams. Its too hard to pull across a seam. You can do as in other comments zig zag over another stronger cord. I have also made two gathering stitches then you sew seam inbetween those two. It stops those folded in puckers at the seamline. Being older and hippier I like my waist about an inch above waist or gathers and loose materials hang up on my wedge butt. Or I make an empire waistline and attach with elastic casing by making an 1-1/2" seam allowance I fold over.
Yes, you’re right. It can be difficult gathering over seams.
You are doing an amazing job. I love how you give a longer lifespan to clothes that we were ready to discard!!! Thank you
Thank you so much!
Thats so cute!
Oh....I was just going to say I would need two shirts! Didnt think to use the top half of shirt for width. Sometimes just have to see someone doing what you cant think of! I have made a dress with two shirts. Same brand, similar colors but I cut into panels keep the front buttons at sides. I attached to a cut off tshirt.
I visited to a warehouse in London Silver Town E-16 called Thrift factory Kilo sale !!
They had a massive selection you could spend a whole day there.
They only allow some people to pick and choose as they are really exporting mostly. but They also do events , thrift factory £10 per kilo
You need a strong back to go through the clothes as mostly in cages and Trollies.
But it was worth it as many where (Brands) New with Tags are available.
Very cute. Better make one for your daughter also!
I know right 😆
As always great look!
Thank you 💕
Love your hair and makeup with this. Your little dance moves help us get into the fun with you. Short and quick idea! Perfect. Thx,👑💜👑
Thanks so much! 💕🥰
Oh, wow! On a freakishly weird trip to goodwill, I found 2 identical Tommy Bahama cotton and silk blend button-down shirts. I grabbed them because the fabric was such a pretty blue and pink plaid, and felt so good. They will make a PERFECT dress!
Yesss!
Love it!!
Super cute!
Thank you 💕
I am truly in love with your channel new subscriber thank you so much
Soooo cute!!
Thank you 💕
Luuuuuuuuuuv it🥰
Thank you 💕
LOVE IT!!
Super cute! 💕
Thank you 💕
Love it so cute 😍 💕 💖
Thank you 💕
I love this dress. Going to make this asap. So easy🌞☀️
Yayyy!
This is really cute and would look great with knit leggings... Unless you're a "pear" and should avoid horizontal lines on the widest point (which can you look as wide as a barn) in favor of horizontal lines on or near your narrowest point (to give a timeless "hourglass" silhouette.) A peplum top version would be much better for a "pear."
Adorable!
Thanks ☺️
Very cute!
Thanks Dana! 💕
So cute and so easy. This is definitely one of my favorite ways to turn a men's shirt into a dress.
Thank you 💕
Love this going to try it out 💜
Yayyy!
Great tutorial, love the other one too! Just pulled a bunch of men's shirts out of my "other" closet! Thank you!!!!!
Thank you 💕
Love it! Very cute 🥰
Thank you 💕
Lovely! 👍🥰
Thank you 💕
I love this. I bought 2 shirts about 2 weeks ago to try to do a riffle peplim top; similar to this. I will be my first intentional attempt at upcycling.
Yayyy!
