Homemade Immunity Booster, Fresh Turmeric, Ginger, Ayurvedic Recipe, Manjal Kashayam, Wellness Drink, Homemade Potion, Ayurveda, Immunity Booster, Kashayam, Fresh Ginger, Pepper, Cinnamon, Cloves, Wellness Drink
Hi folks, hope you are doing well and keeping safe. Our latest episode from my home kitchen features the recipe to a potent immunity booster that is very relevant to current times. An ayurvedic potion of fresh turmeric, ginger, and a host of other spices and ingredients that you can easily brew at home. The recipe comes from my wife's grandfather who was an Ayurvedic practitioner in Thanjavur. A potent immunity booster, rich in antioxidants and known to ward off a host of ailments, including respiratory such as common cold, sore throat, alleviate morning allergies, etc., this brew is a part of my daily diet now. Hope you find it useful too.
    Ingredients to make Manjal Kashayam
75 gm fresh turmeric (if using dry turmeric instead, you could use around 50 gm)
    75 gm fresh ginger
    2 tsp peppercorns
    2 tsp cumin seeds
    1 tsp cloves
    12 to 15 cardamom pods
    5 to 7 cinnamon sticks
3 to 4 tsp jaggery (optional)
    2 tsp carom seeds (optional)
7 to 8 leaves of mint leaves (optional)
    1 1/2 ltr water
Please refer to the video for the method.
Note: Whilst this is an Ayurvedic based immunity booster that is widely used, please refer to a medical practitioner for specific medical queries.

This drink really helps👍 I’ve been making this for past few years... I also add chopped mint ( pudina) /Basil leaves and some lemon juice in the cup and instead of Jaggery I add pinch of black salt and drink it hot.
This drink tastes really good and its so good for the health too. I never take paracetamol when down with flu or cold, I just drink it 4/5 times a day and i recover from flu in just 2 to 3 days with no following coughing which is usually the case. Please try, if you dont have all ingredient then try with whatever out of these you have got... It may help protect you from all kind of infections and keep you healthy . Take care🙏

I am trying to get rid of a sore throat I’ve had for 2 weeks. Doctor said it will go away naturally but it’s still there. I will try this and make it apart of my daily routine if it works. I hope she’s right about never getting sick!
    OK UPDATE:
I made this before I went to bed last night (a full litre) and I drank it all. This morning the pain was gone. I am drinking it again for breakfast. I’m very happy because 2 weeks was a long time to suffer sore throat.

Hi with all due respects, I would like to express certain things here. i am somebody who has been consuming turmeric tea from the past 2 years not regularly though since my experience has made me understand that this is something which can't be consumed on daily basis due to its side effects. This undoubtedly has wonderful benefits but here the recipe looks very much condensed and the amount of ingredients (especially turmeric and ginger) is quite high. This proportion definitely causes symptoms such as burning of stomach, heart burn, burning sensation in the heals and abdominal pain and cramps. Moreover the cinnamon in this amount causes dryness of mouth and skin peeling from the mouth. Altogether not a pleasant experience when taken regularly (the proportion of the ingredients and the amount to be consumed everyday matters). Hence my sincere request to the makers and viewers is that please understand that though every ingredient available in the nature may have magical benefits but has to be customised accordingly. This tea doesn't suit all. I seriously have a doubt if the lady is consuming it regularly.

It's good drink, but the quantity of all ingredients is high. And can be harmful to drink on daily basis. This stuff prepared in video should be consumed only 15ml daily in winters ,and during present situation of virus , 10 ml for a fortnight then gap of few days then again for a fortnight. For kids it should be given one big spoon daily for fortnight then gap. Nice recipe 👌 . Thanks.

She appreaed first time on your channel for full episode till the last. Ayurveda is our identity and she does well with it using ingredients those are more herbious and great medicinial props carrier. I m sure post 30s one should adopt to this lifestyle. I got bit late almost a decade. Now varibly using ingredients with lot of herbious and medicinal props. They keep your metabolism intact and increase appetite helps digest food easily. This is usually a winter drink or to be consumed where cold weather is predominant.

Please advise her to start her own channel of making home food recipes of her Grandma/ Tanjore style..... My blessings to both of you. Long live and happy eating......

I use powder turmaric and 4 pieces of black pepper and drink it in the morning. Maybe I should add other ingredients. Is it ok to just add hot water or should it be boiled.
You are a beautiful couple 💓Allah bless you.

By the way Kripal, this is a new segment that you can start doing from now on - healthy Ayurvedic drinks and eats. If you wish to crowd fund this particular initiative, I am sure we will all contribute something to bring in a few GoPro cameras strategically placed in your house kitchen as Madam goes about her Ayurvedic preparations.

It is good to learn, practise and share all the good things that we are into so that we grow as a like minded community together. Thank you for bringing this immunity boosting recipie at this much needed hour. We can also add salt in which case it would taste like a typical rasam I guess, instead of a sweetener, with India being the diabetic capital of the world. Also my understanding is that ginger skin is carcinogenic. So, you may want to check on that as well. In our channel run by my little one and I, we have covered a basic list of immunity boosting foods from Indian kitchens. Happy we touched two of your important ingredients turmeric and ginger as well in our list of 10. Please keep sharing more. Our best wishes.

You can plant the fresh turmeric and you can grow a plant from it.. I have grown many trumeric plants from the roots. My grandma used to make it and give it to me. I give it also give it to kids every winter ( ofcourse for kids I don't add garam masala because they are blood thinners) also we get Fresh turmeric pickle...but I am not sure but I think too much of turmeric I guess causes heat. But in winter I feel it's fine...

Really thankful for your recipe. Those days my mother would give us as kids. The whole presentation was so fine. It would have been more appreciated, if the lady had been allowed to speak with her flow instead being constantly disturbed. Though he tried his best to make her speak by virtue of presenting her with questions from her background to recipe. Anyway thanks so much for your info. Appreciate it.
