60fps is more important than 4k imho. It disappoints me that 4k is a bigger priority than 60fps.
Must admit 45-50fps at 4k is more of an experience for me then 80fps at 1080p. The jump in smoothness is not as noticeable once at around 50fps. But the jump in resolution makes all the difference.

Kacper Laskowski hmm i disagree with that. It does matter. But it comes to a point were the fps is bearable. Again 50 would be minnimum. Good to note that most of the games i play are along the lines of assassins creed origins so whilst the framerate should be atleast 60 for a game like cod, especially multiplayer, it is not as important in other types of games.

I've given up on the "Xbox vs PS," debate in the same way that I've given up on the "Android vs iOS," debate. It's good to have the competition of multiple platforms for gaming as it drives developers/manufacturers to create better and better products for us consumers.
At the end of the day, if someone plays Red Dead Redemption 2 (or any other multi-platform AAA title) on an Xbox One X or PS4 Pro (or PC when it finally arrives) they will have the same awesome story experience, which is great for all gamers everywhere.
Sometimes PS4 guys kinda force us to defend ourselves when they insult us and because of stress and anger we insult them as well.

GoodeisSXE honestly including peripherals, in 2018 an entry level PC will cost around $1,200 to 1,500. Meanwhile I can buy an Xbox one x with a decent 4k monitor for less than $1000. All while having a much steadier frame rate than the original Xbox one and better visuals. Sounds like a good damn steal if you ask me, and I'm a former PCMR.

I have never cared about what people play on, whether pc or console. Often or not it should come down to what you can afford, how much space you have and other considerations.
At the end of the day both work really well, whether pc, console or a switch....your going to have a lot of fun.

I don't understand why nearly every PC used in LTT videos can be made significantly better in just a few minutes for no major price jump.

Both xbox one x and s4 pro are great. However my pc cost 900 bucks, with i7-7700HQ, Rx580 8g, 12 gb of ram and 1tb harddrive. And I can do editing, streaming, recording, hell even music making if I want to. Not saying the consoles suck, but PCs are just way more versatile.

I honestly prefer having a 4k capable console run on a 1080p display. It keeps the power usage low along with temps and the lower resolution leaves room for higher graphical settings. I'd go the same way for a 4k capable pc as well.
While the XBox One X might perform better on these titles than an equivalently priced PC, it's only in the short term that it's a better buy. Factor in the monthly/yearly payments to join the PSN and whatever network Microsoft has for the X-Box, plus the fact that the games for consoles are way more expensive in the majority of cases, and you get quite an additional bonus money to put into your PC in the long run, a better gaming machine with cheaper games (90% discount sometimes) with FREE multiplayer capabilities, so on and so on.
That isn't a equivalently priced PC. That is a $600 PC. For it to be a proper comparison for a 'equivalently priced PC' he should change the hardware to make it $100 cheaper. This is a typical PCMR comparison.

I've had my Xbox one for four years now and the initial 500$ plus the 240$ of gold membership sum up to 740$. The games for the xbox are also a little more expensive too so I would compare it to a Pc with a upfront coast of around ~830$.

Main problem I have with consoles now is the monthly payments. Comparing a $500 console to a $500 PC isnt fair because every year the console adds $60 to its price.
If the same was applied to a PC you could upgrade part by part and have a killer machine for years to come versus a console slowly fading into obscurity while you continue to pay for your internet twice.
Super old comment BUT… you don’t just go to the computer store and trade an old CPU or GPU for a nice shiny new one! You still have to PAY for those upgrades. So yes it’s nice to have upgradeability but it’s not free. You could buy 3-4 consoles within the life span of your gaming PC.

X1 doesn't work with 4k, X1S can run games at 4k, but not natively.

I know this is old, but you realize that was impossible right? The CPU's with the mid-gen refreshes didn't increase performance NEARLY enough to make that happen. Getting GPU performance up otoh was much, MUCH easier. If a game can't run at 60fps on the base models, it likely couldn't on the Pro/X models either, no matter how much they gut the graphics settings/resolution.

The game console can do more than game. If you bought the 350$ ps4 pro, and a 250$ notebook or cheap tower, you could do just as much as you could (but way better bc the gaming is way better) as you can with the $600 crap i3 system.

You can build a 4 core Ryzen R3 1300X system with a RX 470, 8GB of RAM, 7200 RPM WD hard drive, and Corsair or Thermaltake 500+ watt power supply for $514.83. The XBox One X has an underclocked AMD FX-8XXX series CPU from 2012 with an integrated graphics which are similar to a RX 480. So a Ryzen R3 1300X is definitely an improvement in the CPU department.

The PS4 pro and XB1X/S don't actually do 4k they use the fact that you got a 4k TV to render at higher resolutions that are often below 4k. So running at 1440p would've probably been more of a fair matchup.

Not as high. They're a huge corporation and they bought the chips in bulk which saves, a lot, on cost per unit and they only need the chips, not sticks of ram like the average consumer would buy, also saving on cost per unit. Plus if memory manufacturers are colluding on retail price, like some speculate, companies might get entirely different pricing all together.

I was about to buy an eGPU enclosure with a GTX1080 for my Intel NUC 8 i7 for 400EUR but Amazon couldn’t deliver it as it was out of stock. The day after, the One X was 289 EUR with a free game. I know the new generation is about 8-12 months away but at this prices it’s unbeatable.
If I see that I get into gaming again in a regular basis I will just build a new PC and enjoy the proces while I’m at it.
You should try the Focal Listen BT headphones with 4.1 they will beat the pants off anything else trying to do the same.
They are amazing for immersion in games, have not tried them for movies because I don’t need to watch them on my desktop and fantastic for music with tidal as BT or plugged into an AMP/DAC. (Note I normally use my Grado RSe1’s for audiophile listening but the Focal do a fantastic job as well when I need something portable)

canadian like luke and me are poor, usually people buy intel core i20 and gtx 1090ti. these conoles are just for broke ass people who need to mine bitcoins in order to get money.
Instead of 1050ti and i3 7100 you should use an RX 580 and a R5 2600, this would even be cheaper ($60ish USD) than the 1050ti and i3 7100 and it would be more even to the XBOX ONE X, possibly better considering you would go from 2 core to 6 core 12 thread, and your Graphics would go from 4GB VRAM to 6-8GB VRAM (Depending on what RX580 you get)
Seems like when you consider that for a console, microsoft can buy in crazy bulk, standardize the manufacturing process for their units, and generally ship out a product that outperforms a similar-costing PC in it's weight class. And that's great! You can definitely get a better machine for similar price, but you WILL need to go used. Including cost of Windows, even that's tough, but doable with something like a Xeon X5650 or something. And of course the added versatility of a PC with things like emulation etc. But damn, as a plug-and-play ready made experience, it's hard to beat either of these consoles.
It's weird having pc guys hating on console. I have both and I absolutely enjoy both platform. I have a ps4 slim and a pc with 1070 card. Its true pc have better graphic, but ps4 is a lot cheaper compare to my pc. I don't understand the hate some people have with console gaming. I played both, and have no complaint at all.

PCs clean the floor with consoles now. Even if a similarly powerful PC costs a bit more, it doesn't charge you for online (and it gives you the option to lower resolution and play at 60FPS in ALL your games) and the games are significantly cheaper so in just 1 year the console can end up costing you way more. Oh and PC gets free games too. We just don't need to have a dumbass subscription. Even if console allowed you to lower the resolution in games like Assassins Creed, you're still stuck at mostly 30FPS because the CPU is so damn weak even compared to low end CPUs.
But I guess console gamers can't grasp the concept of an investment. I'd rather pay 600+ now and pay half price for my games and free online, than pay 500 now and pay full price for my games and for multiplayer, which should be free seeing as how they dont even host the servers you game on.

What setup did you guys use as the pc specs ?
The Xbox One X is actually pretty good and I'm always happy when people get to experience games with good performance. But I always struggle with the mentioned price in these type of reviews. Cost of ownership of a Console is higher than that of a PC in most instances. Additional cost for online play and games that are on average more expensive and stay more expensive over time really add up. For example right now Middle Earth Shadow of War is $70 on Xbox and $36 on Steam and this is very common and something that should be taken in account.

The Xbox One has high resolution textures on Shadow of War, The PS4 Pro has not. Watch Digital Foundry,s video, and you will see that there is a huge difference between the two.

Consider that PC hardware has advanced a generation and a GTX 1650 only lacks in VRAM for 4K and I'd say the results would be the same, with the $449 PC being a bit better than the one in the video.
