    • @bradskis81
      @bradskis81 Před 2 lety

      Yeah, HF digital modes aren't for everyone for sure. The G90 and R pi are way more complicated and lots to set up and mess with to make work. Using a radio like the FT-991 and a windows PC make it so much easier. It's kind of fun playing with, just seeing how far out your signal can get with little power, doing quick QSOs, I don't know.. kind of fun to play with if you don't feel like just yapping or hearing static. Just another facet of ham radio is all, some like it, some don't.

    Thanks for the video. Great walk-thru. I have an XGGCOMS Digimode-4 on the way, and I hope that proves more successful. I have not been able to get digital up and running so far on my G90. Using the CAT cable and the CE-19. Direct connect to WSJT-X is a no go. If I use FLRig (which now has a G90 profile) I can get my radio to receive signals in FT-4 & FT-8, but the TX doesn't seem to do anything. When I test the PTT I see same results as in your video. • @TheSmokinApe

      The PTT is done with the cat cable is a the audio is passed via the sounds card, which it sounds like you know / have covered. First I’d make sure you time is correct on the PC and you make want to use a time sync service. Also, double check the sound card setting for TX. 👍

      no. You use the AF stereo socket, and split that into your soundcadr input & output as mono each - use the cables provided with the CE19, and solder them together, two 1:1 and the third one to the same ground, but the black and white wire twisted - one plug goes into the CE16, and the other two into mic and speaker of your sound card.
      (if you have passed a license exam, then you should be able to understand the graphs on the ce19 and solder a couple of audio wires together)

      That's not what it says. "Usage of this image means that you freely give your consent to running the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing software, which is configured to only run when the Raspberry Pi is powered on and idle. The reason this image includes this software is that the author originally asked for QSL cards for usage of the previous software image. When there were over 8,000 direct downloads of the previous image (plus an unknown number of BitTorrent / indirect downloads) and the author received less than five QSL cards, the author determined the only way to get something in return for all the hard work (non-monetary, mind you) was to code it into the image. The BOINC client will run benign network computing tasks, such as science applications like protein folding, or searching for neutron stars. The author also believes that this rule isn't for "other people" but includes the author as well, and runs the BOINC software on his Raspberry Pi as well. If you don't consent to this, you should stop running and destroy your copy of the image."

    I got the WSJT-X working with the Xiego G-90 but I have been experiencing WSTJ_-X crashes during some QSO's. I figured HF was getting into the USB cords since it only crashes during the transmit cycle so I put a bunch of ferrite beads on the USB leads. It's driving me nuts. Any experience with this type of glitch?

      I did have that problem with an old laptop so I switched to a Raspberry Pi, if the ferrite beads aren't the correct mix (mix 41 works very well) RFI can still make its way to the PC.

      @@TheSmokinApe Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find any 41 mix but ordered some 31 that had a lower frequency range. Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot.

    Congratulations. You made a confusing project simply unbelievably complicated and a complete turn off.
