IMPROVED Amaro Latte! | The Hot New Way To Drink Amaro

  • We have been making improvements to the Amaro Latte template. If you want a more complex, sweeter gentler version this is for you:
    1.5 oz Whole Milk
    1 oz Amaro
    .25 oz Liqueur
    1 Barspoon Homey Syrup (2:1)
    * I kept saying half ounce when I meant quarter ounce, it is a quarter ounce of liqueur *
    This version tames the very bitter aftertaste of the hot amaro. The regular, equal parts version is still great though, especially if you love bitter things like I do!
    Remember to keep it under 35% ABV and let me know if you come up with any killer combos!
    Cheers!

    I amazed this isn't being served constantly in Melbourne bars - a city obsessed with both latte and amaro.

    Per your template with Fernet Vallet + Ancho Reyes Ancho Chile liqueur + honey syrup + whole milk. Very good. Also a riff on the Edmonton cocktail with Fernet Vallet + 1/4 oz Scotch (Highland Park 12) + 1/4 oz Drambuie + honey syrup + milk. Also good.

    Like the idea of the honey for the throat warming. What about using say Drambuie or Irish Mist or Barenjager as your liqueur and honey all in one. Now Amaro Sibilla has large honey notes so that may be perfect without the honey. More experiments!!!

    • @UnclePete
      @UnclePete  Před 7 měsíci +3

      Yes! More Experiments! Drambuie is 40% so would have to be the liqueur, but yes, worth a try! I have baerenjager, but I dont love it lol

    Practically every time I froth milk with my french press (fancy electronic gadgets not necessary to jump on this, folks!) for a cafe latte I keep a little behind to try out a new amaro latte combination, and this improvement will only continue that practice twice as long. Bless you and b0000urns for your evangelism.
    Also, great timing for my “ok but why didn’t I get Cynar 70” bottle of Cioco to suddenly seem useful at its low proof!

      For plain steamed milk it’s easy, though it requires a volume that’ll sit above the lowest point of your filter plunger (so I use a small French press). Basically add a measure of warmed milk (I microwave it in the glass pitcher for 30-60sec), plunge across the surface 5-10 times, then plunge just below the surface level another 10ish times to incorporate and smooth out.
      You can do fancy tapping, swirling, re-decanting into a pouring/steaming pitcher tricks for more “artful” lattes - Lance Hedrick gets into all that and more on his 6min Latte Milk French Press if a visual guide helps.
      The amaro adjuncts can be added pre-frothing or post - it’ll make a different product but not necessarily better or worse IMO.

    • @UnclePete
      @UnclePete  Před 7 měsíci +2

      So cool! I might have to get hold of a french press and try it!
