i’m so glad that volk is starting to get the appreciation that he deserves from the community
Same here. Bloke is incredible!
Idk I kind of feel like he always had respect from the fans until the second Holloway fight when a bunch of toxic Holloway fans (not saying all Holloway fans) decided to start hating on him solely because he arguably beat their favorite fighter in a close fight. Other than those toxic fans though, the real MMA community has always respected his skill set.
Even back then they liked him look how the fans reacted when Bruce Buffer introduced him at the beginning
@@shushanthswinderballs1122 Volk was always known to the hardcore fans, who largely respected his impressive skillset. To the casual fanbase though, it was very much a case of "who the fuck is that guy?" especially after he beat Max Holloway because they had no idea who this Aussie bloke with a Russian sounding surname was.
He's a great #2.
That moment volk grabs the fence for a second and apologize to the ref is such a wholesome moment
Total opposite of a POS Jones or Derrick always making sht up stalling for time......

😑
hahahahaha
Not cringe at all. They’re so excited for their fighter. It’s wholesome and hilarious when realized it wasn’t over and stopping themselves
I know that was 2016 but man he's an entire different level with his striking now
Hard work 👊
@@roningamingandentertainmen716 "Hard work!!!" - Floyd Mayweather
George bush doesn’t care about black people
@Taliban Dana lol
@Quick Silver Ortega got bodied by Volkanovski. Volk survived insanely tight submissions then started beating on Ortega right after.
Now is the time to rewatch his legendary career
4:00 this is genuinely hilarious, volk turns away to look at the ref and apologize for the fence grab and proceeds to punch the canvas and get leg lock swept.
🍗
Sorray mate!! 🦘
I think now that you've pointed it out, it increases it's comical value.
"Sorry mate."

I keep watching this part now lol
..... Stoopid ref !! Blind to as a bat. Good skilled win by da ozzy though !!!
🦉😸✌️😎👆🦉🌈
Despite his lack of finishes, Volk has become one of my favourite fighters. He's great in almost every aspect of the game, he never lets his opponent get comfortable and his fight IQ is amazing.
Its actually weird that he doesn't have that many finishes , look how he fights n how powerful he is .. But look at his last 4 opponents guys that are impossible to put away
@@italianstalian331 cuz hes a point fighter
@@ugnius2707 zzzz

Fun Fact - Volk is undefeated in UFC and is riding a 20 fight win streak. Underrated Champ. FW goat.
Beat 2 FW goats, Aldo and Holloway (X2)
Volk is a great fighter and champ, but he isnt a FW goat. Aldo is
Nah, not underrated at ALL
Lemme know when he gets 8 title defenses.
aldo has entered the chat
His striking developed so much to the extent that it's very hard to touch him even for someone like Max
Well he fought max 3 times, he had max timing down already
Volk has some vicious ground and pound, it was disgusting what he did to Ortega.
It was brutal.
you need to learn English better
why disgusting ?
Ortega refried beans are gluten free.
It was disgusting how herb dean allowed Ortega to toe grab the fence it was disgusting how they allowed Ortega to be lifted onto his stool it was disgusting how herb dean allowed Ortega to just lay on his back for an extra 20 seconds 💀 It was absolutely magnificent that Ortega got so destroyed by the wolf.
I'm a huge max fan , but gotta give it to Volk , he is a he'll of a fighter and a solid dude 💪
There are many specialists in the fight game.
But Volkanovski, Valentina, Petr and Usman are the most well-rounded in terms of MMA
Jon Jones there to
@@bastienm.2709 agree
Usman dont belong with them
oliveira is very well rounded as well. not only does he have amazing grappling, but his striking is really good as well. probably the most well rounded fighter in the ufc imo.
Accuracy in analysis 💪
Volk looks so puffy at Lightweight. His striking has improved tremendously since this debut. You can also see the elements here that came out against Ortega, mainly the ground and pound.
Yep, he used to play rugby at 614 pounds.

Happy the UFC released this fight. Alexander is a straight up stud.
While max is cleaining out the contenders, volk is just beating max.
Since max lost to volk twice he’s beat Yair and kattar, volk has beat Ortega. Is Ortega not a contender I’m very confused?
@JEFM well I think he made him even more scary, never seen someone take so much leg kicks and not even show a sign of slowing down or being hurt
@JEFM That was a superb fight. Yair is friggen game and super talented. Giga will also mix things up at the top soon.
@@lolly_bread Giga's got a ways to go. He's an incredibly skilled kickboxer, but he's not well-rounded in a division full of guys at the top with broader skillsets, all of whom are skilled strikers in their own right. I think being humbled by Kattar will turn out to be good for him.
Volk has some of the best ground and pound

Anyone else going on a Volk binge before his Islam fight?
*Alex looked identical to Fedor in round 2. His confidence is his best trait. You can see that he believes in himself completely. I wish I had that.*
Volk is the man. I love listening to him talk. He's so intelligent too.
Volk is such an amazing guy.. lots of love and respect
I've never seen this fight. Goosebumps man.
They forgot to turn on the clock for this one? Don’t think I’ve watched a UFC fight without a timer lmfao
I said the same shit lmao
I like that Volkanovski didn't wanna keep hitting him on the ground. He kept looking for the ref to stop it and finally he yells "he's out! he's out! He's not fighting back!" (at least that's what I heard). I always like the classy fighters. :)
Alexander Volkanovski is the only fighter in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship to defend the Virgin Nerds !
Volkanovski can be the first 135,145,155,170, 185 champ
For some weird reasons but stylistically good reasons I feel Khabib vs volkanovski would have been a good fight at lightweight. It would have surely gone to the decision.
Possibly with Volk's skills now with his greatly improved striking, but certainly not earlier in his career. Wild swings like the ones that got him taken down away from the fence in the first round here would have had him quickly underneath Khabib.
Both heavy against the fence and have good ground n pound against it
Gotta love volk he's one of the most genuine fighters out there

Who’s here after the Topuria fight😢. This version of Volk wouldn’t have gotten knocked out back to back from Islam and Ilia. He would have beaten them both mid difficulty.💪He’ll bounce back I just know it but only if he takes like 10 months off and fights in the last ppv of 2024, instead of 6 months from now or something like that.
I didn't know Alex fought at LW in the UFC (I thought he only fought at higher divisions outside the UFC). Great debut!
I was there for his debut in Melbourne he’s record was 13-1
Damn he was always highly skilled, the active G & P plus the bicep control he does during grappling was creativeZ
The punches in that final sequence were fucking brutal. Every shot was so loud it was like they were fighting in the Apex
Knew he would be champion one day, what a beast he is !
10-0 in UFC and his only loss was at 170lbs
I love how Volk’s cornerman goes to pick him up after the first round as if he won 🤣
I think he thought it was a finish?
yeah wtf was that all about lmao, maybe was so excited about the good round he thought he won for a second
lmao it definitely looks like volk had to tell him it’s not over yet 😂😂 im rolling about this
@@WonderFig 🤣🤣🤣
Kasuya was done he barely got off the ground
Birth of a legend
Pretty clean birth too. Only a few spots of blood on the canvas.
He was already very good at ground control, you would think he's an accomplished wrestler or something but not at all, he's so gifted
That strength and cardio from his rugby days really shines since he could keep Jose Aldo pinned to the fence the entire fight, and with his skills on the ground he's a tough match-up everywhere in the fight.
Wasn’t he a national champ in Greco?
