Enjoy the videos and hope you continue to update everything onboard to your satisfaction. I'm amazed at your knowledge on all the electrical systems onboard and how everything works together. ( Love that solar system !!! ) Take care and live it up !!

    The inverter never takes the solar power straight from the panels or MPPT. The MMPT charges the batteries and then the inverter takes the power from the batteries. If you say the power of the battery bank without voltage, you say them in watt-hours ;) Top video trouwens!

  • @davidking1501
    @davidking1501 Před 3 lety

    Commercial land based panels are up to 600 watts with the multilayer panels still in the labs at the moment though (increases the efficiency of the panels which at the moment is only up to 22%).
    Your system is set a certain way with a combined serial solar panel configuration. Have your panels been fitted with the bypass resistors for when one panel is in shade. Balance cats configure their systems in a different way as an example with individual solar panels in parallel with a dedicated controller per panel, so if one panel goes into shade or malfunctioned it does not take down the whole solar array system

    I'm assuming your anchor windlass and power winches run from the 12V AGM bank as well. Also, I'm going to assume the reason you went with an AC to DC (110/240 -> 12 VDC) converter, instead of the typical DC-DC converter (48->12) is becuase you have the inverter on a lot. THanks for the video guys

    You totally missed the most important part. Total consumption at any given moment and/or per day. In other words, how long can you run off of batteries alone without making any concessions of use.

  • @jochenjochen8780
    @jochenjochen8780 Před 3 lety +1

    I am a bit surprised about the high watermaker power consumption... 2530W sounds to much for me. Just looked up some datasheets: a 60l/hr unit needs abou 300W. Where does the mismatch come from? I dare you have an 500l/hr unit. Is it a typo or a really inefficient system? Might be worth to check the root cause of this mismatch...

      Regular A/C systems usually use condensers as form of heat exchanger, usually they have a fan and air moves through it to cool or heat, for boats they use raw sea or lake water to do the heat exchange for the Cooling mode...

    Why are you converting AC to DC, very inefficient especially as you already have DC at 48v, you just need a very cheap DC step down transformer from 48v to 12v to both charge your AGMs (Not AMG as in your graphic) and even power your 12v systems directly. I do feel like your system is far more expensive and complicated than it needs to be... If I built out my own system, I could close to match yours (Batteries & BMS cost only) for just 2500 USD for 320 Ah at 48v, I am gonna bet you spent a LOT more than that.

    • @jnjentinc
      @jnjentinc Před 3 lety

      Just love the “ IF I build out my own “ 😂

    • @spindreams
      @spindreams Před 3 lety +1

      @@jnjentinc Thats "If I was to build out their system", I don't need or want a system like theirs so I wouldn't, I have a 13m monohull, I have 800w of solar and 2x 320Ah 12v LifePo4 cell packs (I built my own packs) and I run a hybrid system with an AGM in parallel which allows me to maximise their particular properties while it handles alternator compatibility and charge profiles of older charging systems. I am not doing anything special; you can buy lifepo4 grade A cells from china, 320Ah 12v packs for 450USD, just have to do the math. Far Less than half the cost of what their big battery packs cost which is a saving of thousands of USD on a system their size.
