Polaris Sportsman 570 First Service - Oil Change - Oil Filter - Full Grease Of The Machine
Oil change is applicable to other Polaris Sportsman models, such as the 450, 570, 850, etc...
The same oil change kit made of Polaris Sportsman ATV's, also covers mutliple models. Other fluids are the same unless otherwise specified in your manual.
At around the 24 minute mark in the video, there is one tip that might save your machine from premature engine failure if your dealership did a bad job at assembling it. - Jak na to + styl
See how the oil was pulsing when it came out? Loosen the dipstick before you undo the bolt under the engine and the oil will run out smoother
Huge help. New 570 owner and newbie at maintaining them. Thanks for taking the time to do this video.
Thank you so much for this! I have the exact same model and everything! New to ATV stuff and this video is a life saver as I can’t find much of anything out there on the 2016 Polaris 570 Sportsman.
Really appreciate this video! As a new 570 owner this will make things much easier, so thank you!
Awesome video man. I literally started my service then turned your video on. I absolutely left the brass washer in the drain pan! Luckily I saw where you said to watch for that. Thanks for the help! Saved me a headache
I’ve looked at so many how to videos and this one is the best! Very explanatory in every step! I really appreciated the simplicity after going thru several videos!
Fantastic!! Thank you for the time and effort you put in to make a clear, concise video. Much appreciated!
Video was okay. You showed things well, but definetly are pretty green at doing this. Always take filler/check plugs out before draining. The oil fill is under the seat by the air intake (makes filling the oil alot easier and less messy). You also simply don't have the required tools for this job. A funnel is not a good tool for refilling (except for the oil). A screw on pump or hose is the way to go ($10) and as you stated you absolutley need hex key sockets. It's also important to torque to specification when ever a bolt uses seals. This insures it seals correctly. Over tighting seals causes premature wear or a improper seal. All this showed me was really what not to do to avoid a complete mess. Still it was pretty good camera work and I appreciate that.
Ha! Found out something today that REALLY impacts servicing the front diff/"on-demand" fluid. I have a winch on the front of my 570. The bracket holding the winch on very inconveniently blocks ANY combination of hex/socket/wobble extension/etc (don't ask I've already tried it) being able to access the service port where you add oil to the demand drive (idunno - front diff to me). It's the plug Matt is removing at approx 37:06 of the video. My first side-step will be to loosen the winch bracket and try to get my multi-wobble-combination-frammitz-extension to go around the bracket.
UPDATE from a few days later. I took out the winch plate bolts but the winch didnt have enough room to move because of the brush guard. I had to take off the brush guard to get the winch to slide forward. I supported the loose winch with a jack stand and was able to get just enough clearance to get the 8mm hex socket on wobble extension into the plug.
Yep.. great design right?
Had the same problem today. Took the winch right off and then put back on after
Excellent maintenance review of the 570! Much appreciated!
Great job, I learned a ton. Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks buddy ! I lost my owners Manual here in Mexico and ur video def was very useful servicing my atv myself :)
Just used this to do everything today. Thanks for the video. Really appreciated.
Awesome vid, was trying to track down a service manual for the specific details but no need now!
This was super helpful! Thank you so much for making this video!
Great video, thank you for taking the time!
Yeah thanks alot! Awesome video. Just got a 2020 450 only 2 hours on it so far! 😁
Buddie I could not have done this without this video. The only snag was I have a winch on the front which blocks the fill plug . I won’t go into that but it was a pain however everything else went fine . Way more grease fittings than I thought. I owe you. If you’re ever in va Richmond area I’ll buy ya lunch
Not only is this video super helpful this guy is hilarious, good job buddy! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome video. Thank you for taking the time.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate the step by step👍
I did this the other day with my 570 good video
Thank you so much for this video brother!
Great video but I would highly recommend not blowing these paper filers out with compressed air. They are very weak and compressed air will put small holes in the filter allowing dust to pass through. My brother learned this the hard way and ruins the motor on his 570. Was $3500 to fix through dealer.
Great video, was extremely helpful!
very good video and give a lot of info and how to but don't be afraid to get dirty there bud
Great detail...well explained. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Helped me alot.
Thank you!! I know how to do it!
Thank you for providing that information your video was very informative. I have a 2016 sportsman 570 also. It has about 750 miles on it now and I’m having problems with the battery keeping charged. I hope it’s the voltage regulator and not the other part people are talking about down by the crank case. After replacing the battery Last weekend by Sunday evening the low-voltage indicator came back on again and the machine was dead. Would you suggest getting a OEM. from Polaris to replace it with or just buy it on eBay?
They make the filter a real pain to get at! One thing that pisses me off is Polaris wants you to replace the metal o-ring for the oil plug with every change yet they fail to throw one inside their official oil kit! I remembered to ask the dealer for one and he had one. Should still come in the box though!
Great video thanks!!
Same bike I have I've 4000 km on it now good unit if you keep up on the maintenance
Oh, and if you have a warn winch... good luck with getting that front diff fill plug out, I filed it with a round file for like 2 hrs. If you take the LH bolt out of the frame under the winch you can file just a little off of the rear side of the winch plate, and then if you have an allen wrench with the swivel ball on the end of it you will be able to get it out - just hardly but it worked for me
Thanks no you should do a video on changing the thermostat
Thanks have same machine I bought a full matnince kit off ebay
great video.
i like how the engine slowly kept getting closer and closer lol like a shark du nu da nu da nu DANU DA NU! lol
Very informative. Thanks
Awesome Awesome Video! Thank you! Been wanting to do my own maintenance. I actually wonder if the shit Polaris "dealershit" in Albuquerque where I bought my 570 really performed a proper preventative maintenance on my machine.
So I recommend getting the K&N filters with the nut on the end..KN-303... easier to get off. Also there is a top oil fill cap under the fuel tank pull the seat and look on top of the engine.
well done sir.
Thank you
great vid
Great video! I was wondering if you have done a video on the 570 for a coolant flush, refill and bleeding procedure, I can't find any videos for it specifically for the 570.
Agreed
Great video. One quick question regarding greasing. You only greased one fitting on the back of the drive shaft (rear yoke). Did you ever find out if there is one fitting in the front shaft (yoke)? I don't see one.
doing the demand drive if you have a winch you will have to pull it off and always open the fill bolt first because if you pull the drain bolt and arnt able to get the fill bolt off you will be in trouble
Good reco!
Wish I would’ve read this comment before I started
This was very helpful...what in the H*LL was Polaris thinking with this design for the oil filter...what a pain!
Could you do a video on how to change the battery on this? That would be awesome!
How do you like the 570 now that you have had it a while? Did you get the squeak out of the steering?
Little hint. Never drain your fluids until you can crack your fill plugs loose! ;-)
like funnelling a beer!
@@haus05 No, because if you can't get a fill plug loose, you ant refillen! ;-)
@@notagain8661 yeah but if you crack the fill plug then take the drain plug out it creates a natural vacuum and the fluids will drain quicker
so I have a question... can you run a friction modifier in the oils to further reduce wear?
Would love to see some videos on the 07 sportsman 800 twin efi. First CVT ATV Ive ever owned and the noises are killing me. I'm not sure whats normal and whats not. Not sure what to change or grease. Just cant find any videos on it.
The dipstick will go back into where it came from, aka into the oil, so avoid getting the dip stick dirty by placing it on the dirty floor board
I'm about to do my maintenance I just wanted opinions on the grease... The one you listed is good for all of the zerks???
The front right body panel is a lot harder to get back on when you have another piece that covers the dip stick.
Get yourself a bottle pump and some clear tubing, makes getting the diff fluid and transmission gear case fluids in much easier.
Yep, I just did my full service and used that exact thing. Bottle pump with clear tubing and the kit came with different bottle attachments and one of them tightened right onto the Polaris bottles. Super easy, no spill, highly recommend.
@@eddiediederich7244 Same as mine, no mess, no waste.
so, great tutorial. however, youtube chose to put a 48 minute ad in there for my viewing annoyance...
If your right leg gets hot while riding my 17 450ho eps had a service bulletin out for a block off panel to go between the floor board and the upper side panel and has an access door for the dipstick
Where can I look up this service bulletin, I have a 2016 450 ho and the burning is annoying at times. Thanks in advance
Holy Commercials Batman!!!
You can also add oil on the top of the motor under the seat.
I was looking for this comment thanks
Awesome. I looked for a steering column grease nip too. Lol nope..
The rear hold more AGL because it is the entire gear box for transmission and rear dif. Mine has a Winch on the front that needs to be dropped down out of the way to do the Front. Nice video though.
Yes I was coming to confirm your exact same comment, looks like it is a little more of a pain of an arse. Thanks for chiming in on this video!
Where did you get the front and rear A- Arm guards
Napa does carry 5w-50 and a filter
Take the front tire easy to get at the oil filter
zerk fitting hole location on 570 steering column see attached link. You need to add a zerk fitting, grease up and you should be no more squeeks. link: www.polarisatvforums.com/threads/17-sportsman-570-steering-squeak-resolve.186557/
Thanks dude
I have a 2017 polaris ace 570 i can't find a complet service video for the ACE your video on your 2016 sportsman can i use that one for my 2017 ACE
Hi, could you tell me if this ATV has a front differential lock?
Great video, Matt. Do you know how to reset the mantenance notice in the panel after the service? Thank you
Press and hold mode button options will display select service hours. Press mode button, toggle through to select next service interval.press mode to set service hours. I suggest replacing oil and lubes at 75 hours instead of 100 it's cheap enough of a job
little bit more to it than that...
Sportsman HO Models
Step 1
Turn the ignition switch on then off. Wait for a 10-second period.
Step 2
Lock the parking brake and place the ATV into neutral.
Step 3
Press and hold the "Mode/Reverse Override" button and turn the ignition switch on. Release the "Mode/Reverse Override" button once the speedometer display has fully activated.
Step 4
Press the "Mode/Reverse Override" button to scroll through the menu functions on the display until you have reached the service interval function. Select the service interval function by holding the "Mode/Reverse Override" button for three seconds until the service wrench icon begins to flash.
Set the next service interval by holding the "Mode/Reverse Override" button to advance the next service interval in one-hour increments. Wait until the service hours display stops flashing and turn the ignition switch off. The service wrench icon has now been reset.
Remove your dip stick it will drain faster

Grease recommendation??? Reading all the Amazon comments people are all over the board on opinions... Is this grease working well for you and do you still believe it can be used for every zirk on your Polaris 570? Did you ever locate a U joint zirk?
Did grampa pull up on a old 2 cylinder John Deere??
I just bought a 2020 sportsman 850 premium. In the owners manual it says to change the oil and filter at 25 hrs. No other fluids need to be changed. All the other drive line fluids it says needs to be changed at 100 hrs or 600 miles. So my question to you/everyone else; why does everyone think they need to change all of your fluids at 25 hrs? Great informational video! 👍🍺
Different years have different maintenance schedules. Also as a preventative for shavings, some folks like to change everything after hard break in.
Hello! Do you know where is the engine serial number STAMPED? (No sitcker). I have to sell my atv and it's a requirement. Thanks a lot!
Okay you said “transmission and AGL fluid” are those two separate fluid changes or one. Cause you only did one. I’m confused.
AGL is rear differential and transmission fluid in one unit. One drain, one fill plug.
Sonofabitch I can't get grease into that drive shift zert! 3 different grease gun tips! I'm putting off taking the step off but I guess I'll have to.
Is changing the AGL fluid the same as changing the transmission fluid? Or is there another service to do transmission fluid?
In my 2013 Sportsman 550 EPS there are three different fluids that need to be changed, 9.3 oz of Demand Drive fluid in the Front drive; 37 oz of AGL Transmission fluid; and 7.1 oz of Rear Gearcase (differential) fluid. Since I have the ADC, I need to flush and fill it with Demand Drive fluid as well.
I have a 2018 sportsman 570, Is there not a rear diff/gear case oil (Angle Oil) Required?
the rear diff shares oil w the transmission
I have the 2014 570 exaust got so hot mealted seat pegs
Are your heat shields in place?
@@southernracing2468 they are I hurd 2014 is a bad year I used extra heat tape seems to do the trick
Damn I just replaced a engine in one I sent it home the other day I regret not addressing that now lol
is all this the same with the 2019 version of the 570?
I have a 2018, and mine was the exact same. 2019 should be the same as well
I am hoping for a valve check/adjustment video on the sportsman 570 too. Fingers crossed!
That would be great.
I just recent bought a 2017 sportsman 450 ho with less than 90 hours on it and then thing sounds like a rattle can! I was told it was normal I’ve chained the oil and hasn’t seemed to of made a difference! It sounds like clutches rattling on top off valve chatter does anyone else have this issue?
@@mattm4991 part of that might be the intake tube rattling on the plastic under the seat.
@@rzl07375 my 18 had that problem too. I got some foam insulation with adhesive one one side and lined the edges with it. No more rattle.
Oil Filter PN 2540086 does this work for this polaris 570?
Wouldn't it be easier and cleaner to just remove the bottom skid plate?
I think it's welded on...
Just so you know, there is a large diameter engine oil fill cap under the seat, much easier
Are you sure?
@@ProBro330 yes I think mine is gray. I have a 15' X2 model 570
Why so much maintenance required just asking
gbipit1 4wd system and transmission is all seperate pieces not like some where transmission is build into motor case etc
What kind of grease are you using?
this Ultra grease: amzn.to/3didGlv
Is this the same for a 2015?
Everything except the oil filter I believe. Totally different oil filter setup on the 2015.
Any update on the steering squeak?
Still squeaks like mad, they should’ve put a zero fitting there
@@matt-justice I was researching this and there is a bushing in there that guys say to give a shot with some WD 40 to help with it
Yep either I did it wrong, or it only lasts a short while. Still love the bike overall, rode a Honda a bit ago, and hopped back on happy with the squeak!! Lol
@@matt-justice Also found that the vent line can drip gas down in there causing a squeak to??? I hear ya I love my maintenance queen Polaris's. Lol
Haven’t seen that one, how do you check it? 10-4!!
Why the hell do they make the dip stick so hard to remove? A dip stick should never require a pliers! I stripped mine out because the thing is so tight- had to order a new one! What a joke, Polaris!
Don't you have any friends that can film for you?
59:22, WTF happened! SMH!
Haha milking the quad
