If you watch the full video (search for D-Day 80th anniversary ceremony full video and select the one that is 2 hours long. It is actually rather moving and patriotic), you will see that was not the first time he had sat in that chair, and he was not escorted out before the ceremony was over. Right after the edit cut here, the rest of the people with him sit down because the announcer had announced the next person to speak. He just started sitting down before them and stopped when he heard the announcer.
Look at his left hand. You can see it stops moving when it reached the armrest of the chair.
